  1. Just Had my interview done today. I'm sorry, not a regular poster on here, but I thought I shared my timeline experience at the end.

Filled our case on 1st of March 2018

We had our Notice of Action 2 weeks after.

Had my work Authorization on 10th of October 2018

Case was ready to be scheduled for interview same Months after EAD was received.

Case was scheduled for interview on 15th Of March, 2019 at the Minneapolis of Office.

Interview date and time was 04/24/2019 @ 10:15 AM

We make sure we got there and checked in 20 minutes earlier to the appointed time. At exactly 10:15AM our number was called and an officer showed up at the door, but upon realizing we had our 3 months old baby with us, he came on rushing towards us with him giving us a sign to hold and he met with us right at where we were sitting. He said since you have a baby, i think it will be best to have you guys in one at a time while the other look after the baby. So he decided to go in with my wife first, and after about 15 to 20 mins, wife came out saying he is waiting by the door for me while she get our baby. So i grabbed all of the documents to meet with him by the door.

He walk me into his office while we have a brief friendly conversation.

Upon getting into his office, there is another man right behind him sitting with a computer but no communication was made with him... the office asked me to raise up my right hand and make a oath.

After that, he started asking questions about the documents i485 we submitted and he said is nothing serious but just to be sure if anything have changed, which obviously has with our new baby and moving in to a new address... everything went smooth with all questions and answers, even when he asked if I have ever worked without Work Authorization, I said yes as i really did for sometime after I dropped out of school. And he said well, that is forgiven, we just have to hear the truth from you, even though i said yes in my form.

After that, he asked about my relationship with my wife and how we met, where we had our first and second date, my wife date of birth... all which i gave the right answers. Asked me about my wife Family and siblings if she has any..  gave the answer as requested too, and asked of my family and siblings, I told him and he said we both have a very good relationship knowing much about each others family.

So he said he is approving the case at the spot, even though he's going to hand me a letter at the end which he said i shouldn't mind as it state in it that our case is going to be reviewed before final decision. He said it's just a normal protocol, and I should expect my card at our address in about 6 days or latest a week. He said again he was impressed the way we have our relationship going and he's happy for us. He walked me out of the office and told me "say the same thing to your wife that your case is approved". And he said best of Luck with your family.

And upon getting home to check my account, its already was updated to "Card is being produced"

And that's my Journey and experience on the Permanent residence process till date. Thanks to everyone on the forum, a lots of experience comes with you guys on here. Best wishes to everyone and people hoping for their dates too.

  2. Hello guys...I am wondering if I can file tax with my wife as Married but not Jointly... Coz as it is, if we filed jointly she end up paying more refund back on both state and federal tax, but if we filed as Married but seperate she end up paying less on the tax refund and I get some refund by filing Separately but married. I will like to know if that will have no effect on our interview as we await the dates even though we just had a baby. Thanks

@UncleAK We have just started our AoS process. I would say that your case is more serious than ours since you had dropped out of your program. To your questions, yes—you do need to fill in all work history truthfully. My best advice for your situation is to work with an immigration lawyer. Working with him has eased so much of our concerns and anxiety around our process. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks so much for the knowledge shared. I will keep in touch if there's anything I need further.

  5. Hi everyone, I am in the same shoe with #coffeandkoureac#. Having dropped out of school after my first semester of Master degree program. And i was working for a year now with my ssn which was given to me while in school. And now I'm married to a US CITIZEN who we share a greater dream together. And she's scared if that might affect our filing of Adjustment of status. I need to know if I have to fill in the petition my work history in it, and if there is need to file for tax or any other stuff that could help. I need some advice... Thanks

Everything is written in the USCIS website. if you dont understand something we can try to help but this is general information. Since you are already here you need to File I130 and I130A (Petition for Alien relative) also I485(Application to register a Permanent Resident)  For adjustment of status need a medical exam(Go to a Clinic Approved by USCIS you need a immigration exam) 6 passport photos I765(Employment Authorization Form) assuming you are already in the states, and I864(Affidavit of support)  also if you would like Advance Parole so you can travel while waiting for your Green Card, this is the form you need to fill out.

Thanks so much for the full discretion. I will get on it as you have highlighted and still always be back if any information is required. Thanks once again for the great information.
