Thanks for asking this. I had the same question! I didn’t make copies either and printed them all out, didn’t know what date to put on the signature!

So my wife has her green card (I-485) interview coming up in a month. In the instructions they sent there is a list of items we have to bring to the interview. One of them says, “A complete Affidavit of Support with all required supplemental documents,” then it lists W-2’s pay stubs, etc... it ends with, in brackets “(unless already submitted)”.
All of that was submitted and accepted when I first filed. I even got an RFE about it early on (I forgot to send a copy of my sponsor’s proof of U.S. citizenship). So it all got worked out, but all the information was for 2017 because I filed in March of 2018. It took 13 months to process. So do I have to bring all new financial info, sponsor info, another affidavit for 2018? Or do they go off of my original filing?
I know it seems like it says clearly “Unless already submitted,” but that fact that it says “from the most recent tax year” is confusing.
Thanks in advance!

Another update:
We just received the letter. My wife’s green card interview is May 7th! We have to get her medical forms done and bring them with us, plus an interpreter for her because I don’t qualify as the spouse. It’s game time!

Hey everyone!
I am beyond ecstatic today! We finally FINALLY got the interview touch in email form. We haven’t received the notice in the mail yet but it should be within 30 days! I will keep you guys updated. So it took just over 13 months!

Well 400 days gives me hope, that is only a couple weeks away for us, a hopefully that turns out to be how it is for us!

UPDATE
Well, just checking in once again for future readers. Another month is coming to an end and still no interview scheduled. 8 months now we have been waiting for the interview to be scheduled, 13 since we started the whole green card process.
This is in Texas, I realize it varies with location and some places seem to be much faster than others, but for all you future readers out there, this is how long it’s been for us so far. I’ll check in again later, hopefully with good news next time!

Right, as others have said. It totally depends on the office you are with. We are in Texas, which is at the top of the worst offices to have to work with in terms of wait time. But My in-laws, who are in North Carolina, we’re done with the entire process from initial filing to holding the green card in less than 9 months.

Just thought I would post an update here for anyone who read this later. Today is February 7th, 2019, and we STILL have not been scheduled for the interview. I went to InfoPass and spoke with the agent and they said everything is fine, we just have to wait. I received the Your Case is Ready to Be Scheduled notice on August 8th. It’s been six months.
I honestly thought that after all that other stuff this would be the quickest part, I mean, it’s like a twenty minute interview. So anyway, I’ll let you guys know when we actually get it!

Okay cool, that is good to know. Thank you everyone!

My wife and I began the process of obtaining her U.S. citizenship about a year ago. I am a U.S. citizen, she is Panamanian, our kids are all dual. We were told she needed to be Stateside for three years before she can apply for citizenship. The question is, does that three years begin when we started the green card application process, or does the clock start once we receive the green card.
Thanks!

We have been "ready to be scheduled" since mid- May 😕
Bummer, I had this hope that we would be getting the interview letter pretty much right away. But I do feel a little better knowing it is normal to wait. Thanks!

I received a letter for my wife a month ago saying her I-485 (green card) is ready to be scheduled for an interview. Just wanted to know what the average wait time is before the interview is actually scheduled? Thanks!

Thank you! This helps a lot! And thank you for responding so quickly!

My wife just received her notification that her final interview date is in the mail. We filed in Texas, but are in Pennsylvania visiting friends. Would it matter if the get her medical exam done here, or do we need to do it in Texas?
-
Awesome, that is a huge help. We already filed, so they already have the affidavit of support from them and the tax forms. They just send the RFE asking for more evidence of what was on the tax forms.
I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer this!

Sorry about that, it’s an I-485, adjustment of status for my wife.
The letter says I need to prove my joint sponsor has an income 125% above the poverty line. Just not sure if that’s 125% for them, a family of two, or including my family, making it a family of six. It the difference of showing $21k for a family of two, or $42k for a family of 6.
Also, all are US citizens except my wife. Only one green card. Myself and two boys are US citizens. As well as my grandparents.

I received a request for more evidence letter from USCIS about our green card application. All is good, but they want to me to prove my joint sponsor has above the 125% poverty level of income. They are my grandparents, two people, but my family is four. So do we look at their income as 125% for a family of two or for all six of us?
Thank you!

I may be in the wrong forum, she isn’t adjusting from a K-1. She is adjusting from a B2. We have been married for 13 years, but living in Panama all that time. She had a 10 year visitor’s visa that we finally decided to adjust because we have been spending more and more time here in the States.
i do appreciate the input though!
