  1. For those who have applied to embassies with USCIS sub-offices e.g. London.

I finally got confirmation of what was suspected that there will be no detrimental effect on visa interviews

    Hope that helps some people

    James

As your I-130 has already been approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sub-office in London, this ruling will have no effect on the processing of your visa application.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

    Hi there,

I've been reading about the Adam Walsh child protection act and its effect on I-130 immigration petitions. It seems some embassies have been cancelling visa appointments and cases are being transferred to other offices. I rang the helpline and they said I should e-mail.

I am currently waiting for my interview on the 26th February in London and was wondering if this was having any effect in London and whether any interviews are being cancelled and whether it will mean a delay in being granted my visa (if the interview is succesful of course).

    Thanks for you help

  2. The rabbit you have there appears to be a a 4-5 month old dutch. Yes its ears are a bit on the shorter side but it already looks too big for a dwarf. Is it a male or female? You will want to have it spayed / neutured. Are you keeping it indoors, or out :)

    It is NOT a lop.

Sure is a cute thing. Remnds me of my Molly.

Rabbits are very cute animals, and sorry to sound stern here- but they have very special needs as far as what to eat, and how much room the need to be happy. Please make sure her diet is consisting mainly of HAY and vegetables- although many are posinous. NO LETTUCE! A good quality rabbit pellet made of silage to suupliment. You can letter train her. You must keep her box clean, and you must not keep her in a wire bottom cage.

Find a web site or a book. I used to run a group about rabbits and rabbit care but it is no longer :(

    Enjoy your new baby

The black and white bunnies in this pic look just like yours.

These particular rabbits are young dutch
  3. How old was your sone when he graduated from highschool in Scottland?

Sitting the GED is not a cake walk. There are questions in there ranging from basic grammar to advanced algebra and trigonometry. Also some US history I think- its been while since I last saw one.

Why does he need a gED anyways, if I may ask?

  4. You must have some way to prove that you were together in the UK other than your passport though, right A? Joint bills in both of your names, etc etc....you'll find something. Also, when I first started speaking to you, I didn't realize you had been married so long either. That's a huge point in your favor. As long as you have all of your paperwork together, you should be fine...and don't worry..if you had filled something out wrong, etc. they would let you know (via RFE) believe me! :) M.

    Hi,

The passport thing was just me rambling on about a time when I had a bad experieince with the embassy once before. They essentially lost my passport and were making all sorts of things up to buy time to find it. They had it for 6 months and it was only supposed to take 8 weeks to obtain a replacement. dorks.

  5. Hi there kitkat,

I called the IRS at the time we filled out the affadavit- and told them my earngings for all the years I had lived in the UK. They told me that I am not required to file a tax retun or report my earnings as they were so little. There was not a year when I earned enought to report my income.....

    Filing Requirements

If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, the rules for filing income, estate, and gift tax returns and for paying estimated tax are generally the same whether you are in the United States or abroad.

Your income, filing status, and age generally determine whether you must file an income tax return. Generally, you must file a return for 2006 if your gross income from worldwide sources is at least the amount shown for your filing status in the following table.

    Filing Status* Amount

    Single $8,450

    65 or older $9,700

    Head of household $10,850

    65 or older $12,100

    Qualifying widow(er) $13,600

    65 or older $14,600

    Married filing jointly $16,900

Not living with spouse at end of year $3,300

One spouse 65 or older $17,900

Both spouses 65 or older $18,900

    Married filing separately $3,300

*If you are the dependent of another taxpayer, see the instructions for Form 1040 for more information on whether you must file a return.

Gross income. This includes all income you receive in the form of money, goods, property, and services that is not exempt from tax.

  6. Hi there, What does DCF mean?

Yes I am working- part time. I forgot to metion that. I make around $10,000 before taxes. My husband has always been the bread winner, making the majority of our income. No, we do not have any children.

I have given him a letter from my employer that stated the date I started work and how much I earn an hour- (but they didnt put that I only work 25 hours a week. )

I also have a bank statement from the past three months- which is how long Ive been back here in the US (to establish domicile) and this statement shows more than $100,000 which is what we got for the sale of our house in the UK.

Do I need to worry about the lack of tax returns- will they require some sort of proof that I was not required to file?

I am desperately hoping that the money in savings and my part time job will be enough.

I do not have any assets just the savings. Unless you count a car.

    Thanks again

    Angie

  7. Hi there,

Since living in the UK with my husband, I never earned anough money to file an American tax return back home. My husband was the breadwinner. Now the affadavit of support is asking for my last 2 years of income tax returns. NaturallyI dont have them, so I wrote a letter stating why. Will this affect my ability as the sole sponsor for my husband? We do have $100,000 in cash savings, so I am hoping this will let them overlook my lack of earnings in the past???

    Really worried about that,

    Angie

  8. Hi there,

Im not sure the name of the form we messed up on it may well be the same one you are talking about. It asked for the details of my paretns- birthplace, date of birth, etc. I never knew my dad, and never knew this information.

My husband looked at the instructions for filling out the form, and to our releif it said, IF KNOWN, put the information, and if you didnt know, just to put 'UNKNOWN'. So we did this.

6 weeks later we got a letter stating that they wanted that question answered in order to process the application. Sheesh. So We did a little digging and found out. My advice, try to find him and put it down. Even tho the instructions gave the imprssionthis info was optional, it wasnt.

  9. Just FYI

Rabies vaccinations are required by most states, check witht he state in THE FIRST PORT OF CALL not your final destiantion.

Untited no longer allow animals as carry on. Most airlines do not allow animals at all these days. Do not think it is always going to be this easy getting your cat here- My plane happened to land in Texas, and I had the forseight to call the texas officails- and was told that the animal most CERTAINLY would require a rabies vaccination, and furthermore that the vaccination must be at LEAST 30 days old.

If I had arrived with the cat, no rabies shot, they would have A. Quarantined her at my expense B. shipped her back at my expense or C. make me sign an affidafid that sas I will get her vaccinated within 30 days. So you can see there was a 2 out of three chance that cat wasnt coming with me. I left her here in the end.

  10. I am american and my husband is british. We planned to move to the UK after we married here, and the process was pretty straighforward and easy. We went to the conuslate to apply in person and waited there for 2 days after we applied and my visa was in my hand. I can give you some tips for your interview- take all evidence of your relationship with you. We had loads of pictures, letters, bills, all our marriage stuff , etc etc.

We are now in the process of moving back to the states, and 4 months in. I can say that me getting to the UK was a hell of a lot easier than getting him here. So make sure you are sertain that you dont want to change your minds later. The child, I believe, will have to apply too.

  11. Alix, how did you cope with being apart for so long?

How long did it take to get your interview letter?

Will they want me present at his interview in the UK?

We have been married for 5 1/2 years and we didn't spend alot of time apart during this time. I am a worrier, and I keep thinking something we did wrong, filled out something wrong, etc. We had the papers returned to us once becuse we answered a question wrong- and my husband recently moved out of our house when it sold, and filled out a change of address with the embassy. I worry that this can slow things down. I just wish they would hurry up and give us a date, even if it were several weeks from now.

I once lost my passport and it took them several months to issue me a replacement one- they lost my file, then had it in two pieces in two places, then they had no record of me entering the UK- I had been living and working there for several months. The whole thing was a fiasco that leaves me nervous!

    thanks

    Angie

    Hi Angie,

I hope that you find out the interview date really soon!

I don't think you should worry about not getting an approval. If you both have no criminal records, are well-educated people and can prove your marriage is true, you'll be fine. I also worried about all that, and it only went away after we walked out with the visa in our hands!!

I was apart from my husband for 4 months and it was really painful and sad to be away from him. But now that we are together, it made it all worthwile. But honestly I don't have any tips on how you can cope with it because each person deals with it differently. It makes it harder when you don't know any dates...just hang in there. Try to keep yourself busy. Reassure him of your love. And everything will work out in the end! :luv:

  12. Hi there,

This is James Wife, Angie. We started all of this a long time ago it seems. I have been here in the States waiting for James to join me from the UK. We have been apart for nearly 4 months. I came here to set up domicile. It seems I just wait every day for him to get the letter for an interview date.

Apart from the pain of being apart all this time, I also worry that he will not get approved for some reason. I am working part time, and we have over $100,000 in my bank account over here. My husband is well educated and has no criminal record. Can you see any reason we would get denied? I am looking for some reassurance and some tips to get through the seperation. I am finding it very difficult right now. If only we had a date for the interview.

    Angie
