  1. Did the embassy approved your expedite request? Has the embassy contacted you after they received the case? I  requested for expedite and was approved. The embassy contacted me after receiving the case from NVC to create interview profile for interview scheduling. I did it all that and emailed and called them several times but there was no response. I  emailed them again with this different address: consularaccra@state.gov and got response next day. I am now able to schedule IV appointment by myself on their website. You may contact me if you need assistance.

  2. Tou can request at NVCExpedite@state.gov with your reasons. mine was purely medical reasons and was approved in 4 days. Make sure you add valid supporting docs. i attached medical reports from doctors and full x ray results and consequence if treatment is not carried out in US without delay. I provided additional documents.

Remember everyone has its own peculiar and different reasons to expedite.

  3. My son attended his immigrant visa interview this week and was denied about the information on his school certificate. His passport information has my last name added to his names but his school certificate does not.

They stated that further consideration will be given to my visa after I have obtain and present  the documents required. They did not give any document submitted to the embassy to back him except his passport.

They concluded that if I fail to take action required within one year following visa denial under section 221(g) of immigration and nationality act, section 233(g) of the act requires that my application will be cancelled.

I am in the process of swearing affidavit to get the information on the passport rectified.

What is the process of submitting the requested documents to the embassy. How soon, and how can I get another visa interview scheduled? Do I have to submit the documents to the embassy or I have to send them to uscis or nvc? Your responses are highly appreciated. Thank you.

  4. My son will be going for his immigrant visa interview in Accra Ghana next week. The interview package ask me to pay for the interview visa fees of $325 without specifying where the payment should be made. Can anyone who has gone through the same process tell me where and when I can make the payment before interview, either the payment should be made at any designated bank or it could be made at the embassy on the interview day. I have contacted the embassy several times but they didn't give me any definite response. they referred me to the uscis.gov website to find the payment process, but I didn't see anything there.  Please help, the interview date is fast approaching. Thank you.

  5. Thanks ya'll for your reply and showing your delight and all your best wishes, we are expecting to recieve her social security card and the green card in the mail. can somebody tell me how long it takes to recieve them. any response is very much appreciated.

my wife arrived on Jun 12, 07 (JFK) from Ghana on ir1 visa. during the application, I applied for the ds 230 part 2, I requested to the SSN.

  6. Congratulations. I'm not surprised at the delay though. We flew through JFK on June 17 and our flight was delayed 2 hours (we fly DELTA as well).

Thanks ya'll for your reply and showing your delight and all your best wishes, we are expecting to recieve her social security card and the green card in the mail. can somebody tell me how long it takes to recieve them. any response is very much appreciated.

  7. My wife recieved her ir1 on the Jun 01 and she arrived here in US on Jun 12. Her POE is JFK from Accra-Ghana. She passed through the immigration and the customs smoothly without any incident. Her only worried worry was the almost 5 hours delay at Jfk enroute to BWI (Baltmore), she was in DELTA air. But we thank God and all VJ members for your contributions and suggestions which ease the entire process.

  10. It has now become a routine that all the completed medical results to be carried by applicants and submitted directly to embassy for the interview.

The cliniks don’t send them anymore bcos of possibility of results being lost in transits.

First I want to congratulate you and your wife.

My fiance had his hiv test done at Akai House, the employees there say they will be mailing his results to the embassy. They keep telling him to call to see if they have mailed them. When he calls, they keep him on hold forever, after holding they tell him to call back another day, hmm, with no answer yet. He comleted his medical, in March, I think middle of the month. I'm going to email the embassy to see if they have received his medical exam yet. I was wondering if none of the clinics mail results, why would they tell him they are going to mail them? I'm glad to have read this post. As always the right doesn't know what the left is doing. Do you know how long they have been making the patients pick up their results at the clinics?

I also wanted to add, the Akai House flat out refused to give my fiance a copy of the vaccination worksheet. I told him don't leave until he gets it. They said, the card with the vaccinations on it is good enough. He told them the vaccination worksheet says give copy to patient. Then they said well we already mailed it to the embassy. How could that be when at that time he still had 1 more Hep B left and they were saying call later to see if we mailed your medicals. They are crazy, how did they become nurses or even doctors and cant follow directions? Well anyhow no success with that. I know, I've read so much about needing that later, what to do now? Doesn't seem like we'll get that.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

    Hi akim & oda,

I think the clinics are changing the system now in Ghana. They prefer the applicants to come for the results and send them directly to the embassy in a sealed envelope. You don't have to temper with enveloped as they may be rejected by the consulate. My wife did her physicals in Holy trinity and the Lab work @ Medlab. They told her to come for the results three weeks but she was forturnate to get everything done in a week time.

The vacinations was done by Akai house and the results (weeksheet) was sealed in an envelope. They gave it to my wife who took it to the embassy.

I know this new process is given some extra burden to the applicants but it's the surest way to send your own results to embassy at the time you need it most!

  11. Very good news and I want to share with everyone.

The very long journey of my IR1visa got ended today when my visa was approved this morning.

These are the how whole process took process.

    Medical process:

I sent out the interview package that I received from NVC to my wife. She received within 5 days via USPS express mail. She used it to do her medicals while the package sent to her by the embassy was received 3 days prior to the interview (what a delay on their part). At the holy trinity clinic, medical officer told her that she should come for the results by herself by three weeks time. Which means the result is gonna be ready two days after the interview date this is because the Medlab always delay the blood test (HIV). She was very lucky to meet one guy who works at the clinic and he’s the one who used to go collect the completed lab results Medlab to the Holy trinity who promised to contact the guys to expedite. True to his words all the test results was completed in one week instead of three weeks.

She received all the packages from the holy trinity, medlab, and Akai house two weeks before the interview date. That was good time save.

It has now become a routine that all the completed medical results to be carried by applicants and submitted directly to embassy for the interview.

The cliniks don’t send them anymore bcos of possibility of results being lost in transits.

    Interview success!!!

My wife had the first batch interview this morning

According her they asked her to submit her passport, medical results, 2 passports size pictures, all the evidence of ongoing relationship, she gave them letters, post cards, bunch of westernunion receipts, pictures, life insurance certificate having her name as major beneficiary, we also filed married and joint on the tax return for the past three years.

All the documents were collect before the actual ineterview.

Her appointment time was 0830 and the interview was over by 1030 Ghanaian local time.

She was the third person to be interviewed on this morning.

She said she was interviewed by very pretty young lady by her age. She called my wife to window. My wife approached her with a beam of smile and usual greetings, good morning ma’m, how are u doing this morning? According to my wife she also responded back with a smile.

She said the whole interview later turned into a mere conversation with some question not relevant to the case at stake.

Some of the questions asked my wife are as follows:

    Your husband name

    How did u meet?

    Where did you meet

(We were students at university of Ghana)

When did each completed the school

How did I get into the states

    What work I do here

    Do we have children

    Did I previously married

What I bought for her at her b’day

    How often do we talk

How does my wife know that I love her

    Do my mother loves her……..

My wife was so poised for the occasion as she answered all the questions with perfection.

She was later approved and was issued the green paper to come on Friday June 01 for the visa package.

Truly the whole process didn’t surprised me bcos were actually prepared, I prepared her psychology and materially,

I gave her all the motivation that she is going to be approved.

We ran through all these questions on everyday and her documents were well arranged.

We owed this success to God and all VJ members for given out more information to others for which I benefited greatly from it.

According my wife three other applicants were turned away for failure to present supporting documents. She said one lady went there with just the appointment letter in her hand.

Please let me know if somebody needs some clarifications on some information.

  12. hey there! YAY for folks married to ghanaians..Okay, so i believe that they send you the actual medical forms (at least that is what they did for me and my husband) except we are going the K-3 route, so it might be different....I think they will send it to your wife...

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks for your information, do you how long before the beneficiary recieves it (medical forms) from the embassy, very curious!!

Do not wait for the Accra Embassy. EMS/DHL/FEDEX the entire package to your wife in Ghana. Global Express with USPS is fast these days. Don't forget to make copies first. The letter says the embassy will send her a package. Trust me, they'll not.

Thank you very much KingMedusa, for your information I have already sent all the forms to her through USPS via express mail and she has since received it. It took 5 days. She is doing the medicals this week and hopefully the results get to the embassy prior to the interview date.

  13. Congrats Sammylee!!!!! I replied back to the PM you sent me but I just wanted to congratulate you and your wife again because I know this a long process but now you and your wife will be together soon enough and start your lives together under one roof!!!!

Akatagirl, Thanks very much for your for all your valuable information. I've expressed mailed the appointment letter to my wife for her use for her medical exams next week.

I want her to do medical far in advance so the results would be available at the time of the interview.

    Any other information is appreciated.

  15. I CALL NVC TODAY AND THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT MY SPOUSE INTERVIEW (IR1)DATE IS SCHEDULED FOR 22MAY, IN ACCRA, GHANA. THIS CASE HAS BEEN COMPLETED SINCE OCT 18, 2006.

I HAVE ALSO RECIEVED THE INTERVIEW PACKAGE TODAY IN THE MAIL, THEY ALSO SAID THEY'VE SEND A COPY TO MY WIFE... IT SHOWS ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO BE FOLLOWED FOR THE INTERVIEW.

NOW MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN MY WIFE GET THE THE MEDICAL FORMS FOR HER MEDICAL. DOES SHE HAS TO WAIT FOR THE EMBASSY TO MAIL THE FORMS TO HER OR SHE NEED TO GO THE EMBASSY FOR THE FORMS. THE PACKAGE THAT I RECIEVE INCLUDED THE THE LIST OF APPROVED MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS, IS THIS THE RIGHT SHEET FOR THE MEDICAL OR NOT? IS ANYBODY WITH SIMILAR EXPERIENCE.

YOUR HELP ON THIS IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

  16. According to my wife, the Consular asked her about our marriage and our kids ages. Then she, the Consular, said the kids names as written in their passports and that of their birth certificates do not match and that there should be a hyphen between the middle names and the last names. My wife told her the names are not compound (borrowed) so they don't require hyphens or anything. Then the Consular said the middle names have been added to the last names in the passports so she should get new birth certs to match the passports.

Secondly, the pictures she produced are not enough so she should bring more. Especially, ones before I travelled to the USA. She has been given another date to bring all that stuff in April. This is what transpired today at the Accra Embassy.

My own personal thought is that this is complete waste of time. She sent all available family pictures but we'll provide them with some more from our student days. On the name issue too: Some "wise" immigration officer put my kids middle + last names where it says SURNAME in the passports. So to the Consular, that makes the names compound and should be hyphenated. New birth certs we'll provide them. No problem at all. It looks like she realized the uncanny resemblance of the children and did not even mention DNA tests at all. Continue to pray for us as we do for you all.

    Thanks!

I hope things will be cool for your next appointment, wishing you great success!

  17. SOURCES INDICATE THAT THERE ARE BACKLOG OF HUNDREDS OF CASES QUEUEING TO BE SHEDULED INTERVIEW IN GHANA. YOUR CASE MIGHT BE A DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO TEMPORARY TO DELAY IT TO CLEAR OFF ALL THOSE CASES PENDING IN THEIR SYSTEM BEFORE YOURS IS ADDED. THERE IS A LOT OF CONCERN WHY GHANA EMBASSY IS SO SLOW AS COMPARED TO OTHERS. KEEP FINGERS CROSSED AND HOPEFULY YOU HEAR FROM THEM SOON. GOOD LUCK!

  18. Hello to All in the African Forum!

Today is a good day because God is good! My husband was granted his visa today! Praise God! We had a really hard time envisioning this moment but our day has come and we are in bliss!!!!

FYI, I posted in the European forum for those of you who want to know more details about our experience with the Athens, Embassy! In short, the Athens, Embassy staff are professional, kind and very helpful!

I did want to share that no matter what embassy you are going through, if you think too much evidence is not necessary, then you are wrong! My husband did not see the value of all the evidence I had him bring until today because they looked thoroughly through everything he brought. Also, for those of you that love scrapbooking, you may want to rethink the 11x 14 scrapbooks because they didnt allow this in the visa section since they said it was too big! They did have my husband flip through the pages as they looked through the glass window!

My husband met a Nigerian man at the embassy also going for the same type of visa and he said he felt really bad for this man because he noticed that the man did not have much evidence with him. The consular officer later told this man that they will give him a call and let him know what will happen which doesn't look so good!- So based on what my husband witnessed today, come equipped with a lot of evidence and make sure you are organized, and remain cool and confident!

My husband was issued his visa that same day!

I want to thank all in the forum for posting your experiences which has helped us get through this visa process with few bumps in the road! :innocent:

    CONGRATS!
