got notice by mail (I-797 Notice) Aug 20
Aug 23 change to reopened.
Found out that the VISA numbers are not available
This is weird because your visa should have been available since your case was current.

That's good.. But just in case if you still have your EAD card, take it with you so when coming back they don't give you a hard time. Also take the welcome letter and approval page just in case.
I sure will. Thanks

I was asked for it and I had the copy so I gave it to the officer.
Just be prepared as these folks are nut jobs and you never know what they will ask
Did you get your replacement GC?
Not yet, I had an infopass and she said it takes a few months to resend it. This is ridiculous. But, I had the temporary gc stamp because I have a trip next month.

No, she did not ask for it, but you better be prepared.

Hi guys, did your lawyer attend the interview with you?
I don’t have a lawyer.
1 hour ago, SamSam85 said:it shouldn't matter if you leave school before interview as long as your were a fultime student at time of filing.
Yes, after the application is received, you can drop classes. But I recommend people to maintain their f1 status because the interviewer may not like that.

Thank you! I read you were on F1 status, did you drop off school before the interview?
No, I went the spring semester, but I don’t have to go the summer.

Guys, if you don't mind, please share your experience at the interview.
Today, my status changed to "Interview was scheduled", I'm just waiting for the date.
Thank you.
My interview was quick. The officer didn’t ask us anything about our relationship. She only asked me the questions in the form I-485. I think they don’t have doubts about relationships of F2A cases. She asked us if we have anything to leave. I left my car insurance and apartment lease which have our names on them. I also gave her our photo book, but she just looked through and gave it back. Finally, she told us that my I-130 was not there, so she had to request it from NVC then reviewed it. My case was approved a month later since the interview.

Who know what policies do these immigration officers follow.
BTW at the beginning, the IO thought that I am adjusting based on my I-140 which was also approved but PD is eons away from becoming current.
I had to tell her that AOS is based on I-130. These officers are no better than DMV workers just work in a less rush environment.
Did not even know what the difference between Computer and Mechanical Engineering was. How would she interview for I-485 based on employment?
Right, they do not know much about their job. My green card was produced and mailed but ended up undeliverable. I made a service request to have it resent but instead of resending it, they told me to file I-90 to get it replaced even though the card was returned back to uscis. It is not lost or stolen. Make sure you guys put your name in the mail box. I saw a lot of cases like me.

My Lawyer had not warned me of this. Else I would have taken it with me.
I suggest if your interview is closer to October 2018, please go ahead and get an updated medical exam done already.
My officer did not ask for it even though mine expired.

I was only talking about I130. I knew they have to move it to USCIS prior to the interview. I called them many times. They said they cant send it unless USCIS requests it.
Yes, my officer should have requested it before the interview.

I told you guys that our cases at the NVC. I called NVC many times, they said they will transfer unless USCIS asks for it.
That is not right. Only your I-130 is sent to NVC no matter if you adjust your status in the US. If you notify NVC, they will hold it there until USCIS office requests it. Otherwise, it will go through consular processing. This is what I read from NVC:
QuoteIf you are physically present in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status with USCIS, then your case will not be processed by the NVC. (You will not apply for an immigrant visa.) Do not pay any fees or submit any forms to the NVC. Notify the NVC by email or mail as soon as you decide to pursue adjustment of status.

I wonder if I need to ask NVC to transfer the Case to USCIS as well.. this never ends !
You should have let NVC knows you will adjust your status in the US before your case became current.

Did you complete your interview? Please Share your preparation efforts
I complete the interview this morning. It was quick. She did not ask me anything about our relationship. She just ask about information in the form I-485. The only weird thing is that she did not have my I-130 because it is currently at NVC even though I already notified NVC that I will adjust my status in the US. So she has to request the form from NVC then review it. No decision is made yet. In the end, she ask me that if I have anything to leave. I left my lease contract, car insurance, bank statements, and a photo book. She then took a look at the photos and returned it to us. She told us to wait for the online case status update and we should receive a notice in the mail within 30 days. That was it.
A few hours later, my case status was updated to “Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed”

My congressman really made a difference on my case. I have never ever contacted uscis regarding I-485

Sorry, we can’t help since you are a silent reader and have not shared anything about your case. Just kidding. Don’t freak out. It has just been a week. Mine took a month to be approved.
