Hi guys,
This is for my cousin. She's about to get married to her boyfriend of 3 years this weekend here in California and the husband (who's the USC) wants to file an I-130 for her. Now my question is, I was looking at the forums and some of you guys filed an I-129F too (which is a petition for a fiancee or something). Now I'm confused because why will you file an I-129F if you guys are already married.
I'm trying to help my cousin and I'm confused. Can someone here please enlightened me? Thank you!

I just wanna thank everybody for helping me out to clarify some issues at the time of my filing for I-751. I finally got my GC today from California Service Center. Here's my timeline:
11/26/06 sent petition thru priority mail ($205 fee)
After 2 weeks, petition came back (wrong date on check)
Mailed it back the following day
1/16/07 Biotmetrics taken
2/20/07- petition approved
2/28/07 GC received from the mail.
To those who are still waiting for approval, good luck and just hang in there.
Congratulations!

My wife's green card arrived today. We had been expecting a notice confirming the email which said the card had been ordered. We were pleasantly surprised. Her 2 year card has not expired yet. I gotta tell you I like CSC a lot better than I liked NSC.
12/18/2006 Sent I-751 to CSC with $275 enclosed
12/23/2006 CIS returned the app with note that fee was only $205
12/26/2006 Sent I-751 again with $205 enclosed
01/10/2007 NOA with 1 year extension
01/11/2007 Received notice of biometric appointment
01/23/2007 Biometrics taken
02/24/2007 Email from CIS that card production has been ordered
03/01/2007 Green Card arrived in the mail.
We hope everyone else has as good an experience. Be seeing you in the Citizenship Forum.

congratulations!

Hi OCgirl
Congratulations
I have a question for you, what about the two years expired GC, did you return it to them or you still have it?
Thanks
I still have it. They never asked me to return it. Besides, it has an expiration date because its just conditional so it doesn't really matter if you keep it or not.

yes, you can go back to the US without any hassle even if you go home just by yourself..you just need to present your greencard and your passport when you get back. And of course bring your marriage certificate and some ID's with you to show just in case they ask you.Well happy trip and enjoy your bakasyon!!
I see. Thank you for the info!

Hello! As probably some of you know, I just got my permanent green card and I'm planning to go back to the Philippines to visit my family. The last name in my green card is my married name and the last name in my passport is my maiden name. Now here's some questions:
1. Will I have problems going back?
2. What last name should I use when I book the ticket?
3. Should I bring my marriage certificate and some IDs to show identity?
Please advice! Thank you so much because I'm quite confused and I haven't traveled back after I got married here in California.
We just got back from visiting the Philippines.
My wife still has her maiden name on her passport and her married name on the permanent resident card.
You should book the ticket in your maiden name -- it needs to match the passport
When we returned, we just presented the permanent resident card along with her passport.
If you take you marriage certificate with you, your spouse can get the balikbayan visa on entry good for up to 1 year as long as you enter the country with him.
Thanks for the info regarding booking names for the ticket.
What if I go home by myself and not with my husband due to work/schedule conflict. Can I still go back to the US without any hassle? I talked to a friend of mine and she said to just bring an original copy of my marriage certificate. I'm not sure though so I want to get opinions from the forums.

What about copies of lease/mortgage etc of the place both of you guys living in?
I still suggest to add affidavits. It's better to have a lot that none at all right? Your list looks really good though. Good luck!

I suggest for you to be there at least 10 minutes before. Its a first come, first serve basis. They will first ask you to fill out a form, do the finger print and then take your picture. You're in and out in 10-15 minutes max.
