do you remember what questions you were asked at the interview and did you study the whole 100 questions from the booklet?

They run through all the questions you answered on your application form to check that your answers are still the same.

On the civics questions, they ask a maximum of 10 questions randomly selected from the published 100. You need to get 6 correct to pass. If you get the first 6 right, they wont bother asking you the remaining 4.

They will also ask you to read a sentence written in English and write a sentence in English.

Received my oath ceremony notice on saturday....scheduled for Thursday 22nd December at 1.30pm. Not sure yet if I will have to reschedule it due to the mrs having to have time off work to go with me.

As of 3pm yesterday, I am a newly minted US citizen :thumbs:

Received an email from USCIS today saying that I am scheduled for an oath ceremony. Will get the date in the mail :thumbs:

I had my interview in New Orleans yesterday. I arrived at 8:00am for an 8:20am appointment. I was called in at 8:40am. The IO was very nice and friendly. She swore me in and asked me all the questions on the application form and ticked them off as I answered. She asked me the civics questions (stopped after 6 cos I got them all correct :thumbs: ). She asked me to read "Who elects congress?" and then asked me to write "The people elect congress". I then brought up the fact that I hadn't had my fingerprints taken yet.....this surprised her a lot as she thought the computer system should have alerted her by now that they were missing. She asked her supervisor and luckily they were able to fingerprint me right there and then. Then she told me I was approved and that the oath ceremonies are every Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm.

Once the fingerprints are approved I will get an oath appointment in the mail.

I was back on the road home at about 9:40am.

Hey, Congratulations!! That's good news. Have you done your FP within the last 16 months? I believe, if you have then they don't need a fresh one. Am not sure...so better verify that before your interview.

I heard it was 12 months.....I'm really not sure.

I will definitely be making sure they know about my biometrics when I am at the interview.

Well, it looks like the phone call I made to USCIS last week has paid off.......got text/email yesterday saying that an interview has been scheduled and I should get the letter from them within 14 days. Finally!

Still no mention of any biometrics, so I wonder if they will do that on the same day?

I didn't try to talk to a second level officer because the first woman I talked to was very helpful and didn't try to fob me off. Hopefully things speed up a bit now.

So it's over 5 months since I sent in my application and still no biometrics so I called the service line on friday. They raised a service request and said I should hear something within the next 15 days, and if I don't hear anything, they told me to call them again. The woman I talked to was very polite and helpful.

I am originally from the UK and now have US Citizenship and live in the US. I understand that the US does not recognize dual nationality but the UK does. My question is: on UK on the customs form it says "what is your nationality?" Do people put US & UK or just US? as I am traveling on a US passport.

If you still hold a UK passport then enter the UK on that passport and as far as the UK is concerned, you are a UK citizen. When you re-enter the US, enter on your US passport. because as far as the US is concerned you are a US citizen. If you only hold a US passport, then put "US Citizen".

It is perfectly acceptable to carry two passports and enter different countries with each. People do it all the time.

Some say that Biometrics is valid for 18 months... that must be why you're skipping it on this stage?

I'm not sure if I am skipping it yet! I got a biometrics appointment letter at the end of May, and the letter arrived AFTER the appointment date. I wrote to the ASC and asked for a rescheduled appointment, but I've heard nothing from them til I got the yellow letter yesterday.

This may be a good sign. If you received a yellow letter then you may not be required a biometrics. When was the last time you took yours? They are usually valid within 12 months.

I was hoping the yellow letter was a good sign. The last time I had my biometrics taken was (I think) just over a year ago when I renewed my Green Card. Pretty sure it was over a year ago.

Not now that I've mailed in the NOA. Plus it's a 4 hour round trip to the ASC so not really worth going on the off- chance that they will see me.

So I received my biometrics appointment letter yesterday afternoon, the appointment was scheduled for yesterday morning! Not cool.

I called the helpline and I was told to mail in the letter to the ASC with a cover letter asking to be rescheduled.

On my new card, the "Resident Since" says 06/12/08, on my old card, the "Resident Since" says 08/01/08. Problem or not?

Instructions: If more than 30 days have elapsed since your NOA1 date and you have not received your biometrics appointment letter, you can call the NCSC (their number is on your NOA1) and put in service request to the service center which you filed (CSC or VSC) to find out the status of the biometrics appointment letter. Make sure to verify the home address and mailing address (if any) with them on the phone. You can also request to speak to an immigration officer (you may have to ask at least twice to be transferred) to get your CR I-89 receipt number, (it is the receipt number of the biometrics letter) so that you can track your case online.

Had my biometrics done yesterday in New Orleans. Arrived about 30 minutes early and they were able to fit me in straight away. This was my third trip to the ASC in New Orleans and, as always, they were very polite, friendly and efficient. :thumbs:
