  1. many people have been able to find out the date when the checks were ordered. Mostly if you need to guess the namecheck occurs just after NOA1. I do recall someone on here who was told their namecheck was not ordered (slipped through the cracks) and it was ordered on the day of the interview or thereabouts.

Yes...that was my case...the interviewer said they forgot to send it and she sent it the same day of the interview...I did the biometrics months before the interview, so it does not seem to be related to the FBI name check. She said the name check should be sent to the FBI when the AOS petition is received. Now I have been waiting for two months since my interview for the name check to be cleared.

  2. Thank you.

Just an update, today I received a letter from the National Benefits Center, saying that they received and reviewed the application for a new card and verified that the old card was issued with incorrect information due to USCIS administrative error. The new card will be arriving in 2-3 weeks.

The request for the new card was received at the NBC on April 16, 07.

  3. We had our interview in March 2007. I was not approved due to FBI name check not being cleared.

My son was approved and we received his Green Card, but there was a mistake on his birthday date.

I filled the I-90, prepared an explanatory letter and sent the card back with supporting information to the National Benefits Center. I did that at the beggining of April and never received any notice. I called the Customer Service line and they told me that I should not receive a notice for that. That the card will be issued and deliver to my address.

Has anyone gone thru that? Is that right? How long may it take to get a new card?

My son has a stamp on his passport with the approval, will that serve to get his SSN or there will be a problem because the different dates of birth between the passport and the one that may be on the USCIS system?

    Thank you

  4. Okay...

I am waiting for my namecheck too...

My NOA 1 is from November 2006

My interview was in March 2007

I was told by the interviewer that my name, by their mistake, was never submitted to the FBI until my interview.

Is there any use in calling the information line to know if the name check was cleared or do I need an Infopass appointment?

I was planning to make a monthly visit to the USCIS until I get approved... Any advice?

    Thanks.

  5. I went to apply for SSN the next day I got my EAD. First, they sent me back home because they said they needed my birth certificate. I came back the same day with the birth certificate. Then, they verified in the system and said I was not there yet and recommended me to come back the next week.

I came back the following week and gave me a letter that says "This is to show that you requested a Social Security Card on February 6, 2007. We cannot issue you a Social Security card until we check the documents you gave us to show your citizenship or alien status. We will check the documents with the agency that issued them. This will take about four weeks"

I have no notice of my SSN card yet.

  6. I don't know how it works for Mexico, but from Canada, if you enter with a B2 visa by land, they may give you a I-94 that sometimes is marked as multiples entries. The immigration officers encourage you not to return it if you are going to come back to the US before the 6 months expiration date, in order to avoid waits that can be of one hour or more in some of the POE. It is also a common practice as some people cross the border daily, therefore it would be complicated for them to give an I-94 every time that they cross. Sometimes it is not marked as multiples, but they still tell you to keep it and return it back before the expiration date. Even if you keep it after the expiration date, you can mail it to PO box if you are able to furnish other proof of your return to Canada.

Maybe this is the same case in Mexico.

I agree that the OP should consut a lawyer...

  7. Hi,

With my son's and my AOS interview notification we received a separate note that starts: "Notice to Applicant: If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law officer for any reason, you must bring the following for your adjustment of status interview." and then lists different situations and the documents that are required for each of these situations.

It looks like an standard note and nothing is highlighted on it or checked on it. We have never been arrested and my son is only 9 years old, but I would like to know if some other people received this note. We are adjusting in Miami.

    Thank you,

    S

  8. Review History of Acute, Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

The civil surgeon should obtain a good history of acute, vaccine-preventable diseases, including

measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella, from the applicant to identify any naturally acquired

diseases for optional laboratory confirmation (see section IV, “Laboratory Support”). Applicants

who provide a reliable written or oral history of varicella disease do not require laboratory

    confirmation or further vaccination.

This is from the instructions to civil surgeons that can be find here:
