  1. Will they look for entry stamp into foregin country to see date?

    Yes

Any ideas what would happen if she tried to enter on her green card and her passport does not have an date of entry stamp? Her old passport expired and has since gotten a new passport?

  2. Have a friend who has a valid green card that does not expire until '14. Problem is that she has lived abroad for the last 4 years and I'm afraid that she has abandoned her green card. Question is how will ins at POE know how long she has been abroad? Will they look for entry stamp into foregin country to see date?

  3. Hello,

Thanks to all that post here for us new to the works.

My fiance has a 4 year old son. I had a lawyer prepare and submit our K1 application. We did submit her son's info with the documentation.

I am wondering if any of you can shed light on things we should prepare for in regards to her son and the K1 process?

AS long as your son is named on the initial application he can get a K-2 visa at the time your wife gets her K-1 visa...he will have to pay the approriate appointment fees and do the medical exams but will not have to do the lab work...However, if the son is not planning on travelling with the mom, you will have 1 year from issuance of the K-1 visa to do a join to follow...hope this helps.

  4. hi guys!

just a quick question. iposted this in the november filers but figured i may get the answer here.

i never filed for AP as i have no clue when i would be going back for a visit and the form seemed pretty specific when asking for travel dates.

although i do want to go and visit family next year with my son, i'm not sure when as most of my family have already been over here for a visit since i left.

my question is should i have just applied anyway at the same time as the aos? if i do make arrangements will i have to pay for the ap now i've already submitted my aos application?

any help as always greatly appreciated:thumbs:

you should do it with your AOS...additionally, you don;t have to include specific dates...My wife got her AP and it was valid for a period of time...if the time lapses and you don;t use it you can get another one....

  5. Oh, I have no doubt about that! Lots of people aren't handy with the search engine (as evidenced by the questions that pop up again and again), so I thought it might be helpful anyway to someone, somewhere.

Its ironic that SS says that a minor can only get a SS card with a green card in hand or with EAD. I couldn't quite figure it out cause my daughtyer is only 8 years old and I don't think she'll be working anytime soon...Other oddity is that it would take atleast 3 months to get her EAD and by then her I94 will be expired so we wouldn;t be able to get it until the green card anyway...so i dont know why they just don't say u gotta wait for the green card. lol

  6. Just a question for everyone. How much time did you have to wait for your AOS interview after receiving a notice of the date. ShaSha and I are getting worried because she had her bio appointment in July and we still have not received anything or any touches. We woul like to know how much time everyone had between notice date and actual interview date.

    Thanks everyone

We got notice of our interview approximately 4 months after our biometrics...we didn't have any touches or any other notices either. I wouldn't worry quite yet...

  7. EAD card rcd today in snail mail =)

    Congrats!!! :-)

I went to my first job interview in the us today, after they do a background check i think i actually might have the job, they told me, that they were looking forward for me to come work for them :-)

I guess being a danish security guard gets better credentials over here, than i expected.

Good Luck....isn't it nice to be able to work again? Never thought I'd say that. lol

  8. Hello...not sure if this is the right forum...but here goes...a friend of mine received her green card in 2003....Her green card expires in 2013. Since 2005 she has been living in colombia..and is currently in colombia...Does she need anything else to re-enter the U.S.? Is her green card considered abandoned because she has been out of the country for more than 2 years? If so what does she have to do to re-enter? thanks

  9. Over the last couple of years I have looked at the US medical facilities and set up through rose tinted spectacles when compaired to the mess of the UK National Health Service. I listened to the complaints about the medical insurance requirements and thought that if it produces good service then hey, it's clearly working. Having now become a resident and just gone through the turmoil of finding a Civil Surgeon that will just do the I-693A, my outlook is changing rapidly. The list of approved civil surgeons is full of greed merchants that refuse to just complete the suppliment purely because they cannot get the full physical fee! In my opinion they should be struck off the approved list if they are not prepared to provide the service mandated by the appropriate authority ie USCIS.

We are so annoyed by this attitude we are going to write to my wife's senator to urge him to take some action and we would urge all others who have found the same poison to do similar.

Too many of these people have abused their position for too long at our expense and it should be stopped!

Thankfully I have found one surgeon on my 'local' (50 mile round trip) list that is willing to follow the guidelines.

Good Luck to all from annoyed in Tampa.

I agree....i was able to find a civil surgeon who was willing to just do the I693a after about 20 phone calls.
