Friday I sent off an email to the Consulate in Rio, telling them I had heard that Santiago, Chile had received all of their petitions back from Lima... and today they responded with this:
Dear Sir or Madam:
Her interview is scheduled to March 28, 2007 at 08:00 am.

Richard, honestly...this is nothing more than smear campaign in attempt to discredit Global Warming. I mean really - does his personal use of energy have ANY bearing on the scientific data that he used in the documentary? (You did watch it, right?) If you saw it, you would have seen him talk about his family's tobacco farming and later his sister's lost battle with lung cancer. Some could say he was a hypocrite when he spoke out against Big Tobacco because of his family's history...but when you dig deeper you see a person's evolution of thought and understanding. Technically speaking, we're all a bunch of hypocrites to one degree or another.
Exactly! (That's my 'Amen' for the day...)

Finally!! I got a response from the Embassy. Check out the email they send me today....
Mr. Davis:
We have excellent news for you. Your petition was approved and is now ready to continue the normal processing. Your wife’s final interview would be scheduled as soon as possible. We will inform you accordingly as soon as we have the date.
Sincerely,
Immigrant Visa Unit
Isn't good to know that you're not a pedophile... Ya po' weones!!! Vamósnos!!!!!

Thanks...we are pretty stoked!!!We filed our I-130 January 3rd and had our original interview date for the 31st of January. We have gone into the embassy five times since the Adam Walsh Act was passed to keep showing face and I think it might have helped to get an earlier date (thinking positive here . And we found out today because we went into the Embassy to ask...they had never called us back and I am not sure when they would have gotten around to it. Hopefully Brazil does get them back soon too!!! .....
Yea, I think you're right because my wife and I filed on the 30th of Dec. But our original interview date was for the 14th of Feb. You really have to bug the hell out of people sometimes to get things moving. It's so easy to ignore an email or a phone call but when you're standing before someone looking them in the face its a lot harder to be ingored.

Today we recieved our new interview date here in Santiago for March 7th. And they have recieved all their petitions back from Peru which they sent by email. Hopefully everyone soon will start to get their petitions back and their interviews rescheduled....good luck to everyone out there in the same boat.
Wow man! Thats awesome news!! I hope we're next...

All pregnant women beware! You are NOT nor SHOULD NOT take X-Rays and/or and some vaccinations. Some of the doctors that do the medical exams might try to do these things anyway. No matter what they say DON'T do it. In order to bypass this, the pregnant woman should get a certificate by her personal doctor saying that she is pregnant and cannot take X-Rays and 'whatever' vaccinations. I think it's the virus vaccinations that are dangerous. My wife and I have just gone through this. Some of the medical practices in some of the other countries are not up to U.S. standards. So be careful! Study and read for yourself to find out what's best for you and your unborn child. I hope this helps!!

Do u mean they began processing already approved petitions (before Jan23th) or accepted new ones as well?
Sorry for not being clear about that. I was speaking of already approved petitions, ones that where pending before the 23rd of Jan.

This morning I phoned the USCIS office in Lima, Perú. I was told that they have received apps from all over South America and that they have begun to process them. In addition, the officer I spoke with said that she could not give me any detailed information about my case and that I should call back in 2 to 3 weeks for specfic information. <---From the horse's mouth!
Best believe, I will be calling back in 2 to 3 weeks!!

Hello hello, I got very good news today......I went in to the Chilean consulate where i filed the I-130 to see if they had any news on the time delays with this new law and the man behind the counter told us he had VERY GOOD NEWS. That on Friday the 9th he recieved final word that all the names to have background checks would be EMAILED today to the USCIS for the checks. And that within ten days all petitioners from this consulate would have calls for their final interviews. He said little time left to wait and actually put us on a priority since we came in to ask. And he also said that this is happening worldwide. HALLLLELUYAHH!!!!!! We couldn't be happier
Man that is super sweet! I filed in Santiago de Chile too. "HALLLLELUYAHH!!!!!!" Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for posting the good news!!

I don't understand why, at the end of the working week, the Social Security numbers of applicants who filed petitions that week could not just be sent electronically through a secure network to the USCIS headquarters (wherever that is), run them through an FBI/police database to see if they have criminal sex records, and if nothing shows up, then the headquarters send the go-ahead back to respective embassies via the same channel.
Maybe I'm missing something here and it can't be that simple? Cause it sounds like bureaucracy to me. All this mailing of applications back and forth...a lot is bound to get lost.
I was thinking the exact same thing! I even said those words to my wife. I mean I've seen people do this. It's like 'click click' BOOM.... info...
Where are the DVDs in Brazilian Portuguese?

Check Amazon.com. I was looking for Chilean movies in Spanish and I found lots of those. The downside is that you have to buy each movie. I hope this helps.
