So what should we use, UPS or USPS? We're sending money orders too so we wont be able to see when they cash those in (will we?) so how/when will we know that the application has arrived if it can take up to 6 weeks to get a delivery confirmation?!

Checks cashied on the 24th so the clock is ticking. So I guess USPS isn't real time with its delivery confirmation like UPS is.

I'm one of those girls who's boyfriends proposed unexpectedly and we married very unplanned and in the spare of the moment while I was here as a visitor (VWP).

Now we're sending in a petition for alien relative, AOS, and EAD. The question is> When I get my EAD, can I apply for a ssn without a valid I-94? Can anyone who's been in this situation please help me with the answer. We can not possibly be the only ones doing this.

We've heard from a lawyer a while ago that it would be possible to do this, but I'm not sure how. It doesn't make any sense that they would approve a EAD if it wasn't possible for me to work anyway because I couldn't get a ssn....? Or?

Is there anywhere I can read up on how the whole tax system works in America, like easy to understand... Or can anyone explain it to me like I'm a 12-year old?

In have NO idea how anything like that works around here. Like How do I pay my taxes when I work? when do I pay them? and how does the tax return work? what's a w-2?, what's a form 1099 schedule? What's a dependent, who can be a dependent? What does it mean when you claim a dependent?

So confused...

And how do you make sure you have a pension, and get money, when you get old and can't work anymore?

Anything else you think I need to know as a confused immigrant?!

Where it says: 21 Household size - DON'T COUNT ANYONE TWICE, I put in "01" as the number I entered on line 10 (sponsoring my wife).

But then where it says: Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit theres 1 for myself and then theres: C. If you are currently married enter 1 for your spouse. What do we put in there? We are married but we already put her in under the number we entered on line 10, and she IS the one I'm sponsoring in this affidavit. It says don't count anyone twice so what do we do?

you get married first..... then you can go home and file for K3 or you can go home and file for K1 then come back and get married once approved.....

As I said, I came here as a visitor and dit not expect my boyfriend to propose to me. I have a return ticket and everything and didn't plan to stay at all. I guess the idea of me applying for a visa in sweden, and the time that takes, was more than he could handle so he asked me to marry him and stay if I could. The reason we want to apply from america is because then we don't have to be apart anymore than we've already been. I know we can apply from here (after many hours reading... didn't know people could do that). It's just the licence that's an issue.

I'm from sweden and I'm here in America as a visitor under the Visa Waivor Program for 90 days. My american boyfriend proposed to me and now we're getting married within my 90 days here. We want to have a church wedding and because the holidays are coming up we want to wait to get married till January 6th. My authorized stay expires january 14th.

The problem is that it appearently takes time before we get our marriage license. Is it possible for us to get our license and send the applications ( i-130 and i-485) to chicago before january 14th, when we're getting married on the 6th? How do you suggest we do? Is there any other way? (except for getting married sooner...)

Can we wait till we get the marriage license and send everything then, even though it's going to be after my authorized stay?
