  1. hello dear forum members!

I am a german citizen living in Germany and I married my American wife, who lives in Los Angeles, in 2017. It was our goal to move in togethern California in mid 2019, but unfortunately our relationship did not survive the long distance relationship and subsequently we are going to get a divorce.

who has experience with this? im doing an online research atm and am a bit overwhelmed.

how much does the divorce cost? is it possible to do it without a lawyer?

what are the legal consequences of having married in california?

is it possible to make an agreement that everybody keeps their money and their things and it doesn't have to be divided?

  2. hello everybody!

I am german, my future wife is American and we are going to get married tomorrow in Los Angeles! Right after that I want to start the CR 1 Visa process.

I am a musician and there is a possibility of me going on tour in the US next year. the management of the artist wants to get 1 year working visas for us.

Will there be a conflict between applying for the CR 1 and the working visa at the same time?

    looking forward to some answers!

    best, axel

  3. hey, maybe i translated that incorrectly from german into english.

i mean when two people get married, there are certain laws that say what happens in case of a divorce, who gets to keep how much money, etc. in case you want to change some of these things you can work out a contract that determines these fincancial things!

  4. hello people!

i am a german guy and about to marry my wonderful american girlfriend who lives in LA in the US in a couple of weeks.

i have a couple of questions regarding marriage law:

which marriage law applies to us? does it depend on where we live or where we got married? does it make sense to make a "marriage contract"?

    looking forward to your answers!

  5. hey folks!

i really like this forum and i am glad i found this thread.

so just to make sure: i have heard that trying to enter the US to visit my american wife while my CR1 is still pending can make them cancel the whole CR1 process and make us start the whole process again! so i guess that is not true?

so i can visit my wife on the ESTA visa, correct? or do i need a different kind of visa?

    looking forward to answers!

    all the best,

    axel
