They should be able to apply for a SSN at your local office, just take their passports with the I-551 stamp in it and fill out the form and they should get one in a few weeks....

Their SSN was already applied as they checked the box on DS230 that says if a SSN should be issued for you. In that case does it makes sense to apply for it one more time?

How much time is it taking to get SSN these days. My parents entered in US via SFO on June 3rd, and social security office still does not show any record of them in their database.

My parents checked to get SSN on the DS-230 form.

Hoe much time is DHS taking for clearance etcc?

The law has to pass both houses of congress first and be signed by the president before it can even be put into effect.

Typically a law that is passed usually does not go into effect until the following January.

My parents are immgrating to US, and the petitioner is my sister who lives in Ohio. We have a family event soon in California, and are debating if my parents should come here first or go to the Ohio.

I heard that they are expected to land at a place close to where the petitioner is. Are there any issues if they come to California instead.

Hmm, does not sound too reasonable to me, as the documentation that was submitted still holds true, and they have contact information on all documentation for people who provide the documents like banks etc. The Delhi Embassy site also says that if you have submitted the documentation, you don't need to submit again, but they are Government, so we can't Argue.

Anyway, we will prepare the documents one more time, and submit if needed.

My parents are getting interviewed in New Delhi in March, and I am hearing from various sources that people have to resubmit the Affidavit of supports or other financial information about Petitioner.

We submitted ours back in June, 2006. NVC was happy with it.

Any one experienced such issue?

My case got completed yesterday dec 4th 2006. NVC had recieved my DS230 on Nov 7th... I think they do take entire 4 weeks...

That is not good news, my DS 230 was received on 11-28 and was hoping sooner than later for completion. But I guess I have to wait for 4 weeks.

Anyone have their case complete before 4 weeks? Anyone have an idea whether it is different for different counselates..?

Yes terday I talked to an operator, and he told me that these days they are taking full four weeks and asked me to be patient.

I am also eagerly waiting for the review to be completed.

There is a question at the end of DS230 part 2 that asks:

Were you assisted in filling out this form, if yes give the name address and the relationship to the person assisting.

I am filling out all the forms for my mom and dad, should I put my name over there?

I have also petitioned for my parents, their DS230 was entered in System on Nov 13th(NVC recieved it on Nov 7th). I am still waiting. I almost call everyday hoping to hear a "Case Complete" but from what agents are saying it looks like they are waiting till 4 weeks are lapsed.

Just my personal openion.

Yes your husband can send DS230 to NVC signed by you in original with photocopy of your passport bigraphic pages and the barcode sheet having your case barcode etc. (it is available through Jame's Shortcuts)

we just sent our ds-230 package using the barcode sheet from this sight and had no problem with it. sent it last week, monday they had it entered in the system already. whether the barcode sheet looks the same as what nvc sends, cant say cz we havnt recvd it yet.

I am preparing Ds230 form for my dad before I get the actual package from NVC, they have already processed the Fee. I am bit concerned about the barcode sheet on this website.

I want to make sure I don't actually delay the process by not sending the original barcode sheet. My questions are for those of you who have already recieved the Ds230 package from NVC:

1: Does the document looks exactly the same, FONTs, wordings, ATTN:CMR? size of barcode etc?

2: want to know if anyone actually used the document on this website and any issues etc?

3: I am sending the following to NVC

DS 230 part 1, filled and signed by my Dad

Photocopies of his passport, biographics data pages

The Barcode Sheet.

Did I miss anything?
