My wife went to do biometrics early, arriving at 8am when they open; the lady at the counter told her that she could not do biometrics early as it was unfair to the people that were scheduled that day. She asked if she could wait and see if they had any extra openings since she had to drive about 45min to get there. The lady told her she could not wait inside, and could come back later in the day as they usually have an opening in the afternoon. My wife waited about an hour or so, and went back one last time before she had to go to work. There was an older gentleman that told her she could do biometrics early, and just take a ticket and head to the front row of seats. I guess they move everyone from the back of the room to the front of the room as appointment times come up. She completed biometrics in about 30-40min. - Viperspike

I attached a letter to the front of the returned petition explaining the "clerical" error and copies of both of her greencards showing the different dates and they accepted it. So I guess shes at least on the way to citizenship, even if it is only a few weeks early from the wrong date on her greencard. - Viperspike

I didn't even notice the mistake until I started comparing the dates on the letter that they sent me to both of the green cards. I do have her original 2 year condition green card and her current one. The USCIS guy I talked to on Friday said that they have everything that we ever submit digitally in their system and also a hard copy. Hopefully they can just look it up for themselves and ask me to resubmit the application when I call them on Monday.
NOTE: Military spouse applications - - - The USCIS guy told me that since we send it to the Nebraska service center first, that he perfers that PART 2 box D be checked for us. He said to write in the explanation box "Military Spouse married permanent resident for three years"

I got my application back today in the mail. It states that I need to wait until 11/08/11 to file my N-400. My wife's first green card says resident since 01/08/08 (the one with the 2 year conditions). Her second green card says resident since 11/08/08. I think someone fat fingered her resident since on the second green card and caused the petition to be returned. Does this sound plausible? I'll call the military helpline on Monday and ask if they can verify this, if so I wonder if they will process my application now, or go with the fat fingered version and make me wait. Probably the wait scenario since anything else would be them admitting to a mistake

I tried to send it FedEx, but they said they cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes as they do not have keys. So I sent it USPS with delivery confirm. It was delivered on the 20th if I remember correctly, Ill check my confirm # when I get home.
Did you include G-1145 to receive an email or text notification?
Yes, I filled out the G-1145 and put it on top of the cover letter, all inside of a folder. I went all out on this petition and printed out labels which I attached to sticky notes for each form to label what they are. Should be one of the easiest petitions they've ever recieved. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. - Viperspike

I'm starting to get worried as they have not even cashed my check yet. What is the maximum time that we should wait until we call to see if there is a problem with our petition?

Does anyone know if they will accept an N-400 application if you forgot to put the date next to the signature block on the last page? I was kind of in a hurry to get it mailed out, and may have forgotten to put the date in there

This shouldn't hurt your filing at all, if anything during the interview they may ask you why you were denied entry. At that point tell them you were HONEST about your reasons for visiting the US, and the officer thought you were a risk to overstay your visa in the US, so he denied you. Once you tell them that, the interviewer might respect your honesty, so even though this sucks, it could actually help you!

Never send any originals to the USCIS unless they specifically ask for them. For all of my documents I scanned a color copy of them, and sent the copy. If you send the original, you WILL NOT get it back unless you ask for it back (probably in writing). During the Consulate inverviews and AOS interview i had a leather binder that had folders in which i had (original, original copy, translated original, translated copy) for each document. ALso label these with dividers so they can be easily found during the interviews. When my wife went to the interview with "The Book" she had an entire copy of everything we had submitted to them. That way they couldn't "lose" a form and need to reschedule the interview.

Couldn't you just have a few friends type a letter stating that you two are a happily married couple. And that they have joined you on many occasions such as dinners, or other activities in which both of you were together. That type of letter would probably more convincing that adding someone to your lease, or bills. When we did our interview they were more worried about what we knew of each other, birth dates, had I met or talked to her parents was she married before. In fact we still don't a joint bank account, the only thing I added her to was the electricity bill.

I received a letter today saying that the case is reopened and the i will be receiving another interview letter shortly !!!!

You guys are not gonna believe this!!! I made an info pass appointment for two weeks from today. I printed it out and took the denial of adjustment letter, and the info pass, along with my wife’s id and passport to the office. Somehow I was able to show the security guard my info pass, and letter of denial, and he let me in, guess he didn’t look at the date. Also I waited in line at the window to talk to the immigration officer, I showed him the letter that said I was denied along with my I290B motion to appeal, and he hand wrote me an appointment number on a sticky note and said to go to the window when called.
Once at the window they I told them my story, that I didn't receive the notice of appointment and she pulled my file. She looked it over, and told me to write a brief explanation as to why I wanted another appointment. I showed her the explanation on the back of the I-290B, and she photocopied it and said they will set me up another appointment. She also gave me a # to call their office and check on the appointment. !!!!!
So I Sneaked pass security, passed the immigration officer appointment guy, and to the supervisor who reopened my case and scheduled another AOS interview!!!!!!

I got a letter in the mail today from the field office director, Las Vegas, Nevada stating that my wife did not show up for her interview. It says that they mailed us a letter on 12Aug, but we never got anything and the USCIS website did not say anything about a letter. It says at the end that we were provided sufficient notice and the application is denied!!!! i called the uscis support line (what a joke that is)
and they told me to file an I 290B and write Service Motion to Reopen at the top, and mail it to my local office stating i never got a letter in the mail. Does anyone else have any advice for what i can do? Thanks Shawn

Just a little extra info. My wife flew in to Vegas from LAX (her POE) and they did not stamp the I-94 correctly. They could not read the number of the immigration officer who stamped it. I got a random phone call stating that I needed to go to the airport to get it re-stamped. After figuring out they weren’t calling from LAX I went to the airport, and not only did they Re-stamp the I-94 they also put "Employment Authorized". I guess that it is a really random occurrence to get it stamped "Employment Authorized" so you might want to call LAS immigrations and see if they can help you out.

I saved the forms in Acrobat Pro as a JPEG file. Since some Russian computers sometimes don't correctly display english acrobat forms, they all recognize JPEG (picture file) I attached the JPEG files to an email and presto- half way around the world in a second.- I then sent my fiancee down to the local internet cafe to print out the completed documents already filled out. Have her sign it and mail it back. Cuts down on half the wait time, and half the shipping cost!!!

I have a question about the DS156K for the Moscow Embassy when filing a K1 Visa Application
The embassy website says that the form must be filled out in Russian. But is that Russian text on an English form, or Russian Text on a Russian form. My attorney sent a copy of the 156K in English, so i translated it. But my fiancee said her 156K form from the embassy is in Russian. Which one do I need? Russian on English, or Russian on Russian. If so;
Does anyone have the DS156K Russian Form?

My lawyer didnt even know there was a part II to the DS-230, So I downloaded my own 230 and filled out both parts just in case she needs it, its already there neatly typed.
I filled out the 156K in both Russian, and English just to be sure, if you need a copy of the 156K in PDF format to fill out let me know and I can email it to you. The version I have you can save information to the file, Also if you need Acrobat Pro (to edit the text fields) i can get you that also. I just figured it would be more professional if both documents were neatly printed out by computer, and not handwritten.
If I remember right, your interview is soon, so; (i didnt have time to mail a copy, and she couldn't print out adobe forms at the internet cafe) so with Acrobat Pro you can save the form as a JPEG. That will print out anywhere, and solved our problem of mailing last minute forms

The Moscow Embassy site recommends using the Pony express to deliver the approved visas, however there is also a DHL service available. My fiancee will be staying in a hotel during her trip to Moscow for the interview. I was wondering where should she have the approved visa delivered. I really don't want to fly her back to Khabarovsk Russia, just to wait and extra week for the delivery. I hear that it takes about 2 days for the embassy to make and mail the visa. What is a good place to send the visa to? i.e. could she have it delivered to the post office, and sign for it there? if so which post office, and courier does this work the best with? ??Is the Medical exam scheduled by the Consulate?
??Can you get a medical exam before the interview and just take the sealed package with you?
If so the lady in Vladivostok approved hospital said that exam could not be more than 2 weeks before interview
I thought medical exams were good for like 6 months?
My petition was recently approved by both USCIS and NVC. I emailed NVC to confirm the approval and ask for the new number assigned to the case since it was forwarded to Moscow. I received the MOS # and they said the Interview date was Jan 10 2007 at 8am. I know my fiancee needs to have a medical exam before the interview, but we have yet to receive anything from the Consulate in Moscow. Also due to the holiday season i was wondering if she could travel from Khabarovsk to Vladivostok for a medical exam before she even travels to Moscow. But I don't know how the whole process works.
