pay as soon as you can, the stamp is valid for a year but you have to take in account that the card can take months to arrive, so don't wait until the last minute to pay for the card

 

there will be no problem at the point of entry because you don't have to pay it before you leave, you can pay for the card once you're here, but don't take too long
