  1. Hello Commies,

I have been thinking for a while that it is time for me to move on... To that end, I'm requesting to Ewok to close my account.

As you know, I've been writing a book for some time, and I feel that if I devote myself to my research this year of 2010 that I can bring that book to fruition. The only way for me to complete this task and grow in my faith is to really focus on this task.

To that end, I'd like to wish all of you a happy 2010 and a Blessed Life! I've tried to share bits of my faith and humor and love with all of you, and I am so thankful that in return you've all shared a bit of yourselves with me! Truly, that was a blessing that we all shared in the C4C thread!

    God Bless!

  4. Yup. My peers are getting laid off from their jobs and finding better ones and I bask in the glory of being in a secure job that pays less. I'll take a little less security at this point, thank you.

Again...this was a similar experience with me...to make this work though I had to 'roll the dice' and leave the secure job and relocate...but it worked! The stupid part is that I really should have done it about 5 years earlier. : :angry:

  5. i took a new job and moved south in order to "follow my dream"...

now i just wish i had some $$...

    #### the dream.

Ya...I did the almost the exact same thing when I was in my 20s...and basically came to the same realization. In the end, I completely did a 180 and went back to where I started. Overall though, I was glad that I took that 'shot at my dream'....cuz at least I got it out of my system!

The thing that I did stupid in 2009 was 'underinsuring' a car...then crashing it and totaling it...and then having to pay the difference between NADA value and $ owed to the bank out of my pocket ...ShOiT!!!! :crying:

  6. Hey Commies,

I hope your day is going well. AAm and I were invited to a lunch with some people she works with. While we were there, I met an elderly couple that AAm knew, but who I had not met. They were both in the late 80s, and I swear they were the most interesting people that I've met in a very long time! I mean, they really knew how to carry on an interesting conversation, and not about sports or what was on TV or politics, but about 'living'.

I could have stayed there and talked to them all day, it really was quite a treat. They live just about 10 minutes from us so I'm sure we'll be back  Its always great to meet truly interesting people, because...well...for me at least it just doesn't seem to happen that often...probably because I iz a boring! <_<

The only reason I am back home now is because AAm had to go to work at a restaurant :lol:

    Peace!

    Bishop

  7. See the bible is another thing that is confusing to me. It is a book over 2000 years old. I cannot help but believe that it has been altered or misinterpreted since then.Even with modern technology facts and stories get distorted and bent out of context. I think there are very good core values and lessons but I have a hard time with this concept. This is my own cross to bear (pun intended).

I honestly wish I could find the comfort that some do in reading the Bible. It has been a while since I have read it. I should probably read it again.

Chris...a LOT of people (including me up to a point) think like you've mentioned above, and then seek no farther to try to find out if their suspicions are true or false. The facts are that the Bible has remained 97% unchanged since it was handed down to us. 97% consistency over a 2000 year period is pretty amazing...the 3% differences are mainly 'typos' and errors that came out of Erasmus's sloppy redacting of the King James Version of the bible. He simply made a lot of errors...at that time.

But more importantly is what Susita has said regarding interpretations of the bible. What you'll find in a LOT of Protestant churches is a very literal interpretation of the Bible. What you'll find in Catholic Churches is a very 'spiritual' interpretation of the Bible. In reality, the Protestants tend to be too literal, and the Catholics at times tend to be to spiritual in their interpretation. That is why it is important to read it, to fully understand it. Only then can you begin to erase your doubts.

  8. Yes, Although I am jealous of your New Years Bishop. I much rather be huddled up on the couch with Zhan. My party days and drinking days are pretty much over for sometime now.

I dream of having a small house on a nice sized piece of land in upstate NY one day. It's quite funny, I was always this radical, I don't want to settle down, have a family type person but around the time I turned 28 I decided that what I wanted was much different. I got tired of parties, self centered "important" ppl, social scenes yadda yadda. I really want simplicity, a family, a decent job, and it might sound cheesy but to find God, not just say it but really mean it. I was very close to the Catholic church when I was young, I was an alter boy, loved my religion the kids in catechism called me "The exorcist." because I always studied and knew the answers during CCD. My father was a ornamental metal cleaner in NYC he got a contract job with the Brooklyn archdiocese, I used to go on the weekends to help him since I was 4. We would clean and maintain the mausoleums and then go to the Bishops mansion where they had catered parties, heated drive ways, maids, butlers, drove Lincoln's, yes they were all very nice men, but at a young age i began to understand that my "Donation" was going to them when right out side their mansion there were poor ppl begging for food.

I also, had a friend that was molested by a priest (the priest that actually confirmed me into the church) the boy turned to drugs and eventually died of a heroin over dose. These and more things have made me a little bitter against the church. I do respect the Franciscan orders, But the church as a whole disturbs me. I was taught that the Catholic church is the only true church of Christ but after all the things that have happened I believe that the church is just another institution of man and is subject to corruption just like any other. I figured I am my own conduit to god for now. I think Zhanna has helped me want t take steps back to the church (even though she is Russian Orthodox) She went without religion for most of her life due to Soviet era communism. I hope one day I will find that peace of mind......

look at me go off on a tangent. sorry.

Hey Chris...my party days are behind me too...because I'm old, in my 40s! <haha> In fact, my wife doesn't drink at all...but on NYE..well, its the right thing to do

Believe it or not...what you've written above really 'mirrors' my own life...almost to a exact replica! Yep, I went through those same Church experiences as I grew up...left the Church for basically the same reasons...and then came back to God and the Church because of his calling.

Keep what you've said above in mind and you'll find what you're after...

Peace to you brother, you are right thinking indeed.

  9. My head feels like it has a psi of a gajillion. So I went to a party last night and everyone was from West Virginia, they had their own homemade moonshine, so I had a few whiskeys in me before hand and started drinking that and more whiskey welp, before you know it I'm the town drunk. I came home( I live in a town house) to the neighbors (who is 23) teen bop underage kids drinking party. I go in the back to smoke a ciggy and look over and some kid is pissing on our grill so I ran out and started yelling at the kid and he wouldn't stop, so I started pushing him ,mind you this is the second time this has happened,I was gonna knock him out but the kid look like he weighed 120lbs soaking wet, plus his junk was hanging out

Ugh...I hear you brother Chris...I would have wolloped that punk and his entire party crew  You sound like me and AAm...we too lived in a great townhouse we were renting for a year...and no one lived next to us for the first nine months...it was perfect. But, then a bunch of 23 year old punks rented the one next to us and they sound alot like your current neighbors...but 3 months later we had bought the house we have now and we're on an acre of land so no more worries :star:

Overall though, sounds like you had a great time! Happy New Year Bro!

  10. C4C...blessings for all of you for a wonderous and victorious 2010! The Wife of the Bishop  just called and is on her way home! Now, we're going to snuggle in for the Three Stooges Marathon and then watch the ball drop near Susita's home in NY!

    Twilight Zone marathon!!!

Twilight Zone Marathon is Awesome. Tonight, AAm and I will be watching that, but she is really looking forward to the Three Stooges Marathon. She saw her first Three Stooges today and I thought she was going to laff herself to death! It was great!

  12. what should I drink? I have a fully stocked bar. I have the bottle of dom my friend got for my bday chilling. I have also lots of veuve clicquot because I keep that stocked in the bar at all times. I usually don't drink and am not a fan of opening $200 bottles of dom all the time :P
