  1. HI all,

i have been away lately, trying to focus of my job and still waiting for my AP to get over with,

Meanwhile on development is somebody from embassy called me and asked questions about my passport and international travels and if i ever travelled for umra or hajj.

Well, i have an international assignment due for quite some time now, can anybody tell, how can i get my passport back from embassy and can international travel to a european country(denmark, sweden, norway) effect(read delay) my case?

I wish you all the best with your efforts to get united with your families

    aftab!

  2. Congrats and Mubarak to Zaki, KJO and everybody else with good news, i hope rest of us will bring some good news soon.

I have been busy with my job lately, so have not been here for a while, and today it was a pleasant visit for me to see a few good news here,

my wife called DOS yesterday and they said our case is pending at embassy and DOS sent back the response to embassy some time ago. Lady at DOS didnt know whats already done and what is still to be done with our case.

    congratulations again everybody

  3. thanks marry for all the information and advice!some day i wana see the designers of american immigration system. :). Atleast it can help me learn how not to design a system :). anyway, i read somewhere they are upgrading and developing software to process things faster, so hopefully that should help future applicants and i also read that electronic biometric devices being used to get finger prints can clarify wrong hits in matter of hours. All this transition from old manual systems to automated systems should also be causing some delays. Ok, i cant travel abroad as it will only delay my security clearance How about changing my job and/or residence in Pakistan? I have been getting offers but didnt change cuz i was waiting to see how my interview goes at US embassy, but now i think as it may take 1 year or so to get this AP thing finished, i should concentrate on my job and education. i have a job offer from a USA based Software company, which wants me to travel to USA and they also want to place me in there NY office once my visa process (K-3) is over with. This sounds good to me that whenever i go to USA on permanant bases i wont have to start my career from zero. (and i was excited about the fact that i can travel to NY and see my family while on work assignments but as mary said its not going to be possible cuz it will only delay my permanent reunion with my family,,,,) So will changing job and residence also effect security clearances? do i need to tell embassy if any change in my address or job occurs?

    Aftab!

  4. HI everybody, i have been away from the forum due to being busy with job and other things,

but i have always thought about all of you and prayed for everybody.

Yesterday was my interview and here is how it went.

I could only find 2 male applicants including me and 1 candidate for K-1. Most applicants for immigration visa were female.

After depositing fee and submitting passport at window 5 the pakistani guys also asked abt my choice of language, i was then called at window 6 and a pakistani lady collected documents from and asked about the who co-sponsor is and his relationship with me or my wife. Then she told me to wait.

I was called @ window 3 for the interview with counsler officer.

He took full set of finger prints and following questions: -

    1. Who petitioned for you?
    2. Where she lives?
    3. What does she do?
    4. when your marriage took place? where?
    5. how u met? and when?
    6. When was marriage decided?
    7. was it a traditional pakistan marriage with mehndi, nikkah, rukhsati?
    8. Who were the witnesses of marriage?
    9. what was the name of "molvi" who solemnized the marriage?
    10. how long she has been in USA?
    11. How she became US citizen?
    12. did she come to see you again? when?
    13. how you keep in touch? (I offered him to see the phone bills and emails, but he said, thats ok, i dont need to see them)
    14. have you ever travelled outside pakistan?
    15. Is this your first passport?
    16. who is your co-sponsor?

He then went through the photos, 3 pocket albums, stopped at a few photos and asked about the people in there. then he asked me to wait for a couple of minutes. and again called me after a couple of minutes. and said, Sir, we have two outstanding issues with your case, 1. We have to do some administrative processing, which will be done in washington and it can take 2 months. 2. We need proof of nationaility of your co-sponsor (oops, i missed this thing in the instructions). I said, Ok, but do u think it can take more then two months, he said, well sir, I have seen case coming back in 2 weeks and i have seen cases taking several several months. He then, said he is keeping my passport and all original documents, including all three albums of photos. He said while while smiling, he will send them to me later on via amex.

Then he gave me three papers, and said I wish you good luck with your case (and he smiled, even though he was friendly thoughout).

Among the papers one is a blue letter stating

"Dear visa applicant, this office regrets to inform you that it is unable to issue a visa to you because you have been found ineligible to receive a visa under following section(s) of the immigration and Nationality Act. The information contained in the paragraphs marked with "X" pertain to your visa application. Please disregard the unmarked paragraphs.

    X. Section 221(g) which prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act or regulations issued pursuent thereto. The following apply in your case.*

Your case requires additional administrative processing.

    -----

    -----------

    ------------

    X. Further consideration will be given to your visa application after you obtain and present the documents listed above and/or following:*

We require a copy of your joint sponsor's proof of citizenship/status in United States.

SO I am on AP right? :) well,,,,, and do u see anything special or different about my interview? or its just like any other interview that ended up in AP?

How can i check for whats going on with my case? can i or my wife call somewhere in US to see whats going on with AP over there?

will they do AP in pakistan (like verification of documents, making calls to parents, field investigations after everything is cleared from USA or in parallel, i hope they do it in parallel, that will atleast safe some time)?

Also, can i travel to USA while this visa is being or some other visa type? as my employer indends to send for to new york for a temporary assignment?

    Aftab!

  5. What is partial dependence?

I have two kids and even though my ex-husband doesnt support them in any manner, we have joint custody of my kids. They live with me and I am the one who meet all their needs.

Should i mark them as partially dependent or fully dependent? what effect they have on count of my household members?

also can i add my husbands(or his parents) property in pakistan in affidevit of support?

    regards

    Sadia!

  6. Hi All,

I received my K-3 Packet a couple of days back.

It contains a letter with a check list and interview date. It also contains 2 copies of DS156, 1 copy of DS157 and 1 copy of DS230 Part 1.

Is it packet 3? do i have to return it to embassy to get packet 4? it doesnt say anything about returning it to embassy. It says i have to appear for the interview on 15th of may and bring .. check list... with me.

Also Part 1 of DS230 says at its bottom Page 1 of 4 and then page 2 of 4. I cant find page 3 and 4? is there something wrong with it?

Hope everything is going better with everyone here..

  7. I wrote to Pakistan Embassy inquiring them about my husbands K-3 case reciept and when he should expect Packet 3.

But their response is a bit confusing, they said packet 3.5 will be mailed to his address in ....... along with interview date?

as long as i know, it should be packet 3 and once he submits packet 3 they should be sending him interview date.

are they treating our K-3 like CR/IR?

    Sadia!

  8. AOA fellows,

nice to see a seperate thread for Pakistan/Isl..... :)

My I-130 and I-129F were approved on 03-01-07.. i havent recieved snail mail from USCIS as yet, however i was wondering which option is good for us considering history of Islamabad Embassy. I have read on other threads that they are keeping I-130 and forwarding K-3 process. However if anyone wants his I-130 to be forwarded he/she needs to submit some form and fee. I also learnt that even after sumbission of those forms and fees, no I-130 has been forwarded as yet. So should i sit laid back and see how our K-3 proceeds? or i should try to get my I-130 forwarded?

Also generally i know what to expect and how long it can take as i have been going through other threads, but Islamabad is a special place :) so can any body explain to me what and when should v expect my case being forward to Islamabad, then when we should expect packet 3.5 and how long can it take before my husband is interviewed?

I am extremely thank ful to marrynmian for introducing me to this thread.
