  1. My fiance in Costa Rica passed her Visa for K1 on Monday August 6th. The only snag was that her son who is a k2 applicant  and only 17 years old  needed to show proof that he is not married. We supplied that information and it was delivered 2 days later. I called the embassy and the staff person said that your file is in review and cant give me a time frame on when they will issue the Visas, Please help we have a wedding date set and am very nervous on how long this will take.  Has anyone had this happen and have an estimated time when this will be done? Thank you in advance

  2. Sorry thought i was clear that only the fiance living outside the country applying to move to, takes the medical exam not the US citizen. I saw some mixed info  that both parties take the exam and wanted to clarify.

Thank you all this is a great forum

I think it widely depends on both the embassy and the applicant's particular circumstances. Some embassies are notoriously more strict than others, particularly those in high-fraud countries. Also if there are any red flags, such as previous marriages, children from previous marriages/relationships, large age differences, lack of supporting evidence to prove a relationship, etc then the CO will probably be much more scrutinizing with his or her examination as well.

At a minimum, most people are usually asked about their relationship history with their spouse. How they met, how long they've been together, when they got married, have they ever been married previously, when they will go to the US, do you have any other family members in the US, etc.

Thank you for the info. She is from Costa Rica. We are both divorced and we have included her 17 year old son to move to the US as well. We are only two years apart in age.

It's not guaranteed either...I've seen plenty of people not get an RFE using the same website and mentioning it. It's inconsistent, hence why the safest option is to include the evidence that they aren't an IMB.

Also be careful on search for customer service numbers of these websites I thought I found Tinder’s # and it was an fraudulent call center asking personal info and he told me he was with Google and will transfer me to Tinder.

I submitted a letter stating I could not reach Tinder anda screen shot of subscription payment along with terms of use. My application has been mailed off today. Hoping not but how long does a RFE hold up the process? Wish me luck

    Hi!

I met my fiancé on tinder, too. All the information we supplied was on the “extra information” on how we met on form I-129f. All it was was a few lines saying “we met on tinder, carried on talking until we met in person, started a relationship” and so on and so forth. When we got the approved petition back we saw it had been annotated with “non IMBR” (non international marriage broker”.

There were no problems in the slightest.

In fact, when I had my interview last week the consular officer said he interviews at least one fiancé/e who’ve met on tinder!

    Best of luck!

Thank you, I am using Rapid Visa and on the application I did put that we met through Tinder and have been talking ever since and all the times we have met in person. Rapid Visa is asking for a hand written letter from Tinder. I would think that immigration knows about Tinder
