  1. Hello,

I am a US Citizen.  I am in a position where I am likely to be applying for Uniting for Ukraine for a beneficiary or two recently displaced.

My question is on the process.

I know that the Ukrainians still need to get the COVID shot before traveling to the US.

The best case here would be to apply for the program and get approval then travel to Warsaw and get the shot and then travel 2 or 3 days later.

Can the COVID vaccination be administered in Warsaw 2 or 3 days before departure?

The only guidance from USCIS is that it must be within 90 days but I don't want them to get hung up in Warsaw and it can't be done in Poltava, so I need to know if the approval to travel can be received before the attestation of the shot.  Filling out the attestation after getting the shot then leaving 2 or 3 days later is the most realistic way.

Any advice on this would be helpful.

  2. You will not be allowed to enter Ukraine without COVID insurance issued by a company from Ukraine or who has an office there.

I travel to Ukraine a minimum of every 2 months.  Maybe you get lucky and get a corrupt border cop but it is not worth the bet.  I travel with a vaccination card but if you don't have the insurance and they follow the law you will not be allowed to go.  They will not have a problem with any valid international passport.  If you don't have vaccination cards for you and your wife, get ready to be tested frequently.

    • All U.S. citizens entering Ukraine must show:
      • either a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test done within 72 hours of entering Ukraine, OR a negative rapid Antigen Test for SARS-CoV-2, OR a document confirming the receipt of one or more doses of COVID-19 vaccines on WHO’s list of approved vaccines (children under 12 are exempt from the testing and vaccination requirements). Note: A CDC vaccination card is an acceptable proof of vaccination.

    AND

    • proof of medical insurance covering all expenses related to COVID-19 treatment while on the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainian health insurance coverage can be purchased online – https://visitukraine.today/. You can find further details and exceptions from this requirement on the Ministry’s website.

  3. Hello,

I have been in a relationship with my girl for a long time.  COVID and other things threw a wrench into the works.  We met in person the first time in June of 2019.  Then we met a couple more times and then COVID happened.  There were closed borders, she had COVID and was down for 6 weeks and etc...

My question is since the requirement is meeting in the last 2 years, what date, and what meeting do I put on my petition.  The first date in 2019 or the first one in the last 2 years.  Number of trips is not an issue, just which do I use to fill out the K1 Petition.

    Thanks,

    Brian

  4. I have used Pimsleur courses and they are very good at helping with the speaking part.  I also have a private teacher through take lessons with whom I take Russian lessons.  I know this is all in learning her language and a different language all the way around, but the principal is the same.  I like my teacher and we talk about everything 2 to 3 hours a week in Russian.  Pimsleur helped on my speaking and eliminating accent a lot.  I find it difficult but fun at the same time.

Not sure it helps but liking the learning method is half the battle or more.

  5. Just as an update.  We made the choice that we would wait until after the birth to start the process.  We decided among other stressful complications adding the visa process would induce too much stress.

The short answer is that the baby was born on 24 May and I will be filing the 129f in the next couple weeks after a trip there to spend time together and pick up some documentation.

Thus no updates to the timeline yet.  Another winter apart except for monthly/bimonthly trips to be together.

    More to come........

  6. The question was not rude, it was a good question.  The fact is that the baby is not mine.  The conception was not consensual and it doesn't change my feelings one bit.  She is just over 2 months pregnant so the birth will almost certainly happen in Ukraine given current processing times.  I have read another post here that inferred that what I need to do is write a letter to the Embassy to tell them that I am aware of the pregnancy and still love her and want to go ahead with the marriage.  I am concerned with what happens when she gives birth in Ukraine, How does the baby come with her to the US, assuming they approve the K1?  Worst case to me being birth before the Interview, what do I do then?
