  1. Just a thought,

What about reversing you original idea?

You buy your round trip ticket (I'm assuming you need to do that and can't get away with a one way)

When her visa is approved and in hand, if you can't get her a flight matching yours,

Scrap your return flight and buy two one way tickets together.

It seems to be about the same amount of money at risk, or maybe even less.

Your travel agent may have suggested the othe way around so s/he wouldn't lose the commission on the return trip!

    Sue

thanks Sue, i will try that as well,,.. Brian..
  2. I am going to the interview with my fiance the middle of this coming June.. It is in Manila.. If everything goes well, and the visa is approved, i would like to return home with her. It has not been easy at all to get a coinciding airfare one way for her, but the travel agent said i could get a roundtrip ticket with my same itinerary, and just not use the first portion of the ticket to get to Manila.. She would then use the return,,.. Is she able to do this . This is already somewhat of a gamble that the visa will be cleared, and i cannot afford to make those kinds of costly mistakes.. It is not a cheap way to go, but from what i have seen , there really is not a inexpensive way to do this.. grrr... Any advice, or experiences would be greatly appreciated, .. Thanks everyone, Brian

  3. USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases. Please be advised that USCIS no longer returns original documents submitted with the exception of Certificates of Naturalization, Forms I-551, Permanent Resident Card, Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Document, valid passports, or those specifically requested by the officer. Such documents will be returned when they are no longer needed.

Thanks for the help everyone.. it should be fine...

  4. I submitted the 129f petition in late December, but was notified by my fiance that the name on her birth certificate was spelled wrong (a typo), when she went to get her passport she found out... grrrr.. I think the application was filled out properly and complete, but it is with one letter on the last name

wrong.. She has since applied for a name change, to the correct spelling, and has gotten a passport with the wrong name at this point..... I do not

know our best option to get this right, and as quickly as possible... Can i call the USCIS, and cancel the petition, and send another packet, with

her current legal name? or possibly wait for the legal name change? ,hmmm,, anyway, i dont see an easy or quick way for this to go, it is a 110 day wait in Texas service center for them to look over the packet, and they have not gotten to mine yet... Any advice would be Greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks , Brian

  6. My fiance sent me passport photos, and they do not meet the 2x2 inch criteria, I resized the photos and they seem fine and meet the criteria now, except for the fact that the shoulders are now a little cut off .... Does that matter or does the photo need to show the upper chest and shoulders completely. Like everyone else, i dont want to have to wait for her to get another photo and send it, since it takes several weeks ... Any advice would be great.,, Thanks

  7. Just a question regarding the newly required electronic online visa application form ... Can anyone tell me when this needs to be submitted in the petitioning process? My fiance does not have a passport as of yet, but she should have one in about 2 months. Does anyone know if i can submit the 129 packet first, then send the online application a few months later in the process? thanks,, Brian..

Thanks for the advice on both topics, i think i will be using this forum alot. I will begin working on the timeline shortly also... ;)

  8. Do the forms for the 129 packet need to be the originals with original signatures, or can they be copies of the originals? There was a mistake on the form my fiance sent. She checked the wrong box on the 325 form, by checking Naturalization instead of the Other for fiance... This is a learning process, but i dont want to make any mistakes.. Thanks, Brian

  10. This is the beginning of my journey into the visa process.. I am going to apply for the K-1 visa, and i have been reading and hearing that there must be no misakes... I am either going to attempt to file myself, and learn as much as i can so things go fairly smoothly, or , so there will be no mistakes, have some help. Maybe Cherry Blossoms visa assistance? Any advice would be appreciated.. ;) Thanks, Brian
