I apologize if this has been discussed already but I'm unable to find any info and the instructions, as clear as they are, I'm unable to figure this out. So here's the situation. My wife petitioned for her parents, she filed a I-130 for each parent. That's what I've read to do. She'll be using my income as she does not work so I'm filling out the I-864a form. So we're stuck on the Family member section of the I-864 form Part 3. In the instructions it says to list any family member that is being sponsored with "THIS" affidavit. So here lies the confusion. Do we list my father in law as Family member 1? If we do so, the reality is he will have is own affidavit of support. Now if we don't, the number of dependents is decreased by 1 and out total dependents will be short by 1, that 1 is for my father in law. So for exampled, Me, my wife, and my 3 kids is 5, plus my in-laws makes 7 but the total comes out to 6 because my father-in-law is not counted as he has his own affidavit and is not included in this one. Same goes for my father-in-laws affidavit, if my mother-in-law is not counted, then it comes out to 6 as well. But if we add them to each others affidavits, the instructions says list only those who are being sponsored with "THIS" affidavit, it's saying we can't or shouldn't list anyone there.
