  1. It's a little tricky, but if you log in the first place you'll go is your portfolio. If you've added your cases to the portfolio, it will say when it was last updated "touched". Don't click on the cases (that will take you to the notice that it's been received, you'll hear from them about the next steps, blah blah), just look at the date to the right.

Thank you for explaining it so well! I kept clicking on the case number and didn't even notice there was a date on it.

    Thanks so much!

  2. Hi Everyone,

I filed AOS at the end of January. So far my husband has had his biometrics and now we are just waiting. I know alot of you say your case has been touched. How do you see that? I go to the USCIS site and I log into my account. I check the recipt numbers for the application for green card and work authorization applications, and all that shows up is the date that they recieved the application and the letter of biometircs being sent. Is there another place to go on that site to see if it has been touched?

    Thank you,

    Janelle

  3. Hello,

My husband Mohamed and I went to immigration to get all the green card and work authorization paperwork. They told me that he could not work until he has the work authorization which could take as long as getting the green card (3 months is their estimate). He came on a k-1 visa. I am curious if there is any form that we can fill out, since it is neccesary for him to work. I am a first year teacher and make little. The cost of his green card and work authorization took 80% of my last check from work. Is there some form? Has anyone tried to fill out a form or have had a similar situation, where they needed two incomes?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Janelle

  4. Ahmed is in Casa right now picking up his visa.

    TIME TO DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance::dance::dance:

And it gets better! I already bought my ticket to go to Morocco in a couple of weeks, so there's a very good chance he'll be flying home with me. DANCE DANCE DANCE :dance::dance:

WOW that is great news! Congratulations! Make sure he has over 6 months on his passport before it expires. They won't let him travel if he has less than 6 months on his passport. That is a lesson we learned the hard way. Enjoy your trip to Morocco and congratulations again!

  5. Mohamed is here now from Morocco. In his visa they attached a card and it is stamped Employment Authorized and then there is a number. I know I sound dumb but does this mean he can work before getting a SS card? Will emplyees use that number on it to be able to hire him? Has anyone had any difficulty finding work with this? We were married on Friday and I am waiting for the certificate before we mail the SS card information. If you could please help I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    Janelle

you will need a social security # or a TIN.

  9. Have a safe and wonderful trip! I am leaving for Morocco on Sunday and bringing Mohamed back with me too. We will be flying into JFK also. What day are you flying back? We will come back on December 31st. This is all new to us too and I have no idea either what line we should stay in at customs  I will just ask and go with the flow. Enjoy your time with your loved one!

  10. the good news is that you have regular contact with them although they are being inconsistant. if we hear nothing - its bad and we are disgusted that we cant get answers, if we get too much contact with little result, we still have frustration because its not a streamilined workflow in any regard.

i think Amy had a good idea to re-forward the emails back showing the inconsistancies. I know very well Jean how convuluted it can get right at the end as they did the same thing to me.

I am so sorry to hear about your turmoil during this time. I understand how hard it is for you and Mohamed. When I was waiting for my Mohamed's visa I did a lot of possitive visualization. I really beleive in the power of the mind and thoughts. If you are worried and upset and put those thoughts and energies out there then they can reflect back to you. I focused on good thoughts and possitive visualization of us together, Mohamed getting his visa and us being together soon. It might sound a little silly but I swear it works. I know it can be hard not to think of all the sad time or frusterating times. If you could try to think more about the wonderful times you have shared together, miracles could happen and those thought will reflect back to you. I wish you the best of luck. You are in my thoughts and prayer.

  11. Well, compared to what they make in Morocco, the low paying jobs here are very high to what most people make there. Mohamed was working over 70 hours a week and was only making about 50 dollars a month. He will work any job. He wants to help with our new life. I would be very worried if he came and didn't want to work.

  12. Thank you to everyone who congratulated us! It is so amazing to feel this good! Mohamed called me right after he got the visa! I was in the middle of teaching class so I couldn't answer the phone :( He said Visa in Hand! It is truly a miracle. Now, lets just hope he can get the same flight home with me on December 31st. :D

  13. WOW I am so excited! I called the department of state and was checking the status of our case. She put me on hold as usual and then said "Well it looks like your case was apporoved on the 6th" I said What?!! She said that it looked like they have already issued the visa. I was so surprised. Mohamed has been in Tangier visiting his sister and usualy he calls me when it is important. SO I called him and asked if he had heard from Casa. He said yes and screamed! I yelled at him and asked why he hadn't told me. LOL He said that they wanted him to come there today but he was so far in Tangier so he is traveling now back home and he will get the visa tomorrow! This is so exciting! I just bought airfare to go there for a week now he will hopefully be flying back home with me. Thank you to everyone who helped answer all my questions and kept encouraging me!!

  14. WOW that article was unbelievable. It is so sad with the level of highly educated people in our country,to still be so close minded and arrogant. Thank god there are people like us who have spent time with Muslims and seen how beautiful they are and the religion. We just need to keep educating people and hopefully some day everyone will be treated fairly and equal.
