The most important part of your F1 application will be:

    (1) Proof that you can afford being a full-time student. Universities usually have a calculation of cost of living and tuition. This was added to my i-20 which is the document the university gives you to apply for the F1. You should ask them for that number so that you can gather proof that your parents can afford that. They will ask you to see money in a bank account and maybe your parent's monthly income. You probably already know that tuition+cost of living per year is pretty high.

    (2) Academic interest in the program. You will have to show that this is a very good program and your interest is to pursue the program, not to simply live in the US. The fact that the university says they are not providing advice for the visa is already strange. Maybe you asked in the wrong office. You should contact the office for international students. Lawyers are not needed for F1 visas. Universities do not hire lawyer for that. They have visa specialists on staff that provide information.

You should also consider that if you are taking your child, the cost of living will be higher.

By the way, your husband should send you money for your child's care. Even if things between you too are bad, as you say, he has a financial responsibility.

Thank you so much for the response.

You still have to put your husband name in the visa application. And probably state that he's on the visa in the US. That's not something you can hide.

    Thanks for reply

I can add his name and tell that he is already on visa, but do i need to provide any of his documents for that.

  3. Thanks for reply.

No I didn’t asked university about visa and they said they don’t help.

All my financial aid is from my parents. So do i still need to show Husband income statements.

while I’m on L2 in US I haven’t worked at all. Just a house wife.

Is there any way not to have any relation to my my husband in my F1 visa process? As i said I don’t have any support from husband(Terms are bad). I can’t  produce any document.

Please let me know if there is a way.

    thanks again.

  4. Hello

I came to US on L2 ( husband L1 ) and we are having a baby with US citizenship. I went back to india 2 years back with my baby. Meanwhile husband got H1b but I haven’t changed my L2 to H4 and I’m staying in India. I don’t have any support from husband to change mine to H4. So i decided to do F1. I already got admission in a university. So will there be any issues? Please help me with the required documents. Will any of my husband documents are required? Will there be any specific questions asked for doing this?

please help me out from this.

    Thanks in advance.
