  1. Hi there,

My name is Emma Sheridan and I am doing some research for a major broadcaster in the UK at the moment. I stumbled across this site and I'm hoping there might be some members on here that can help me shed some light on this project!! Let me explain a bit about the documentary...

At the moment I am working on the development of a programme looking at women increasingly assuming roles more traditionally associated with men, and in this specific case looking at women seeking foreign men for marriage.

We are hoping to produce a documentary that looks at women turning the traditional roles of seeking foreign partners on their heads, and getting online or otherwise to find their future husbands outside of the their home country. On the internet Russia and the Ukraine have almost become synonymous with marital introduction agency websites and it seems that brides from every corner of the globe are seeking western men on the internet. But what we have been interested in finding are western women seeking foreign husbands. According to various blogs and international dating sites there seem to be a growing number of marriage-hungry women becoming disillusioned with the western dating game and looking for happiness further away from home, however there don't seem to be any specific sites offering western women the chance to search for and meet a foreign husband.

We are extremely keen to discover whether any existing couples are out there, where the women have actively sought a foreign (Russian/Ukrainian) husband and asked him to relocate to their home.

I wondered whether anyone out there is aware of any such couples who are co-habiting/married/divorced. I would love to talk to anyone(confidentially of course) willing to help!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Sounds like an interesting project. Why isnt there sites for woman looking for a foreign husband? We all know theres plenty for the man looking for a foreign bride. Good luck. Dont listen to the easily offended people who probably dont even understand the idea behind your project.

BTW Julezabelle whats wrong with being hungry for marriage. usually thats the way most people start a family and have children. You sound like an idiot imo. Marriage doesnt always fall in your lap, sometimes you need to find a like minded individual who has similar goals in life. I.E. match.com and many others help men and woman connect. Why isnt there the web presence for western woman to find a foreign husband on the web like there is for Men.

  2. I was able to get my wife her license using a I-797C Notice of action. When we first arrived we discoved her I94 was expired and couldnt test. So after a lengthy discussion and explaining AOS can take a while. She had me come back with proof she is "in process". Sounds like we got lucky.

Minnesota also has the law that a German driver can exchange for a MN drivers license with nothing more then surrendering the German one.

  3. Yes I understand what your saying. However I was wondering when you initially send your I-485 away for you Conditional residency. Does the K-2 Visa holder also have to include her own I-485 in the packet or if her being listed on the K-1 Visa applicants I-485 all that was needed.

So for example. Do I send (1) I-485 for K-1 holder and list K-2 on the form. Or do I send (2) I-485 forms one for the K-1 Applicant and one for the 15 year old K-2.

    -Dan

Since I know the age of the K-2 now, it's easier to answer since I'm not as familiar with younger children.

In your situation, one I-485 for the K-1 and 1 I-485 for the K-2, along with any other documents required as shown in the instructions for each. They can be mailed together in the same envelope, but bundle the K-1 and K-2 AOS documents separately.

    PJ

    Thank You (L)

  4. Now you have me wondering.

Im I supposed to File a seperate I-485 form for my k-2 holding daughter. Or do they adjust using one form from the K-1 holder?

    The instructions state;

"If you were admitted as the K-2 child of such a fiance', you may apply to adjust status based on you parents adjustment application"

Does that mean one form? or does that mean she can apply at the same time, however using a seperate form?

    TIA

    -Dan

Don't confuse the two...her K-2 is already at the AOS stage so it isn't the same as you at the moment. A K-2 still has to adjust status and if the K-2 arrived in the US at the same time they are done concurrently. I think there are some differences if the child is under age 14 but I don't know if it's only the fees or if there are some form differences as well. Just read the instructions on the forms and they explain what you need to do in your particular situation and what the appropriate fees are. I haven't paid that much attention if the child is young since ours were older and you didn't mention the age of your K-2.

  5. Nope, not until it's time to lift conditions, just like you!

Good luck at your interview and best wishes!

    PJ

Oh wow thank you so much for this information :D

That was really surprising good news.

  6. Any way, I just got touched by a big hairy USCIS worker. SO it appears something is at least happening!

I never had a touch after the first few days after my NOA1. Found out by Email! Good luck with that touch. PS Change your plans now while you have plenty of time. Dont rely on the USCIS. Thats just plain silly. Thats like trusting the government with your social security payments. They'll get you the money one day. If they can find it.

  7. She has sent me all they documents already. So what about me do i need to take any proof of what i have in my bank??

Nope, but it never hurts to have to much. In our case all they even took from my fiance' at the interview was my W-2 and the I-134.

I guess they didnt want to look thru the mound of financial documents.

  8. Think of it this way - what if the US had freed all black slaves except one? And what if that single black family was still enslaved and lots of useless white folk were dependent on that familys toils to survive. Would you oppose freeing that family because too many peoples lives would be disrupted by doing so?

Well if thats your argument we best start moving out of the USA, because we need to give it back to the Native Americans as soon as possible !

  9. Americans are dumb and Brits are smart - FACT!

I've enjoyed this thread a lot. However comments like that are irresponsible. Chalk up one more idiot.

weirdest question asked to me about Britian would be " Do they go camping " Weird?

Weirdest Question asked to me about Americans " Do we all have large helmets? " in reference to the genital region ;)

I think they must have been refering to a lot of americans being circumcised.

To be honest your the idiot (hey, i'm not usually in for name calling but you started it. So there :P ) for not seeing a blatant piss take when its right in front of you. This thread was getting out of control with people taking stuff too seriously when no offense was intended. My comments where purely aimed at mocking people like you who took it seriously in any way.

What you said was exactly my point. A comment like that just makes those people more upset. Seems to have worked on you perfectly. :P

    and actually you started it

  11. Nikki, you are seriously deluded about the rights of non-USCs and coming to the US tho. :)

Not Her rights, MY rights to bring her using the VWP as the tool at the time. However maybe your right. I also think that if someone meets the qualifying conditions under the VWP it is their right also. Having lived along the Canadian border for 3 years I can say that the economy and peoples lives would cease to exist there if it wasnt a right for Canadians, and Visa Versa. The border is Fluid and it makes no sense to stop and all of a sudden be forced to do a K-1 Visa. Just to walk into the country and start all over again as if you entered under the VWP. If you needed a visa to get into the country in the first place then fine. You might as well go the K-1 route, but if you didnt need a visa in the first place then whats the year long wait and a whole lot of extra $ for?

  12. I'm also on the side of the camp that believes that if USCIS is going to take my money to process my REQUEST, they need to give me my money's worth. If they want to make this a 'customer' process, then they need to treat me like one - not a beggar.

Thats exactly it. If they are going to run it, then do it right!

Wow what a thread. Fun :)

I guess as you can tell Im from the camp that thinks it is a right. Things have not always been mircomanaged like this. I dont expect immigration to work like 1819, but I still believe its a right. If its not a right then I think we have given up part of what the constitution was fundamentally written for.

That aside. Im doing the K-1 visa like most people here. I think the process is over the top. Infringes on what I think our rights as a USC should be. Hopefully the governement can find a better way in the future. Until then I'll play the game like everyone else. Unfortunetly it doesnt stop after the K-1 as T&D pointed out so well in a previous post.

  13. and yes LisaD my fiancee does have the right to be here under the VWP. Your also right I dont like waiting. I dont think we should have to when anyone can come to the country legally or not. I think its punishing people who play by the rules, like us. I dont expect everyone to see it like me. I dont expect the government to be effiecient. ( I can dream can't I) I was just commenting on what you said in referance to me. Just wanted to explain myself and where I was coming from.

Her coming here is a privilege, not a right. She could be denied at any time. It is up to Immigration whether or not she is denied entry.

Not exactly probable, but being pedantic to prove a point.

But thank you for your response. I may not agree with you, but I appreciate the effort in replying.

He he, we can agree to disagree.

I believe a the VWP is a right because as long as you met the qualifying conditions and bring what is needed to prove it, your golden. People just dont come prepared if a officer is suspicious you dont met the VWP or have some other issue. Unfortunetly you get those people behind the counter who are pricks and can find a reason to deny anyone. Who could carry all that proof on them at anytime. We all just hope we dont get that person when we get in line.

But you're technically wrong because it it NOT a right. Go do some research.

I went into the UK on the VWP for 6 mos (their limit). I had proof of onward passage (my return ticket), I had verification of my bank account funds (cos that's a long time to stay with no job), I had my health insurance card with a printed list from my company of where I could get covered treatment should I get sick whilst on hols (which shows I'm not there to get the NHS) and many other pieces of evidence.

I was detained for 9 hours and almost deported.

Was it 'MY RIGHT' to be allowed entry into a foreign country? No, it wasn't. If British officials had decided to send me home, there's absolutely nowt I could have done about it.

You seriously need to research the difference between 'rights' and 'privileges'

That is because a officer has the right to refuse anyone at anytime for any reason. That still means you have the right to come to the USA under the VWP. If you want to pick my post apart that is fine. However my point to begin with is that you can come legally to this country on a VWP and get married. It is legal! If it was not legal people would never be able to adjust status afterwards.

  15. I forgot to address the OP at the end of my post. lol

Anyways if its something you want to do. Just take a "holiday" from work. Come over. After your here buy a ticket to Vegas with your fiance'. Dont plan ahead. You wouldnt want to come into the country on a legal VWP and have to lie if they ask you if your getting married. If nothing is set in stone, then nothings 100 percent planned until you do it. Its not something I would risk. Once you piss off the government your SOL.

  16. As for entitlements - I have a lot less trouble with people expressing a sense of entitlement over THIS than I do over artificially low tuition payments at state schools, not having to pay taxes, the right to a $1.50 gallon of gas, etc. . .

The right to marry is recognized as constitutionally guaranteed (let's leave out the creativity with which it has been interpreted with regards to same-sex couples or a variety of other areas - no really, leave it out!). I absolutely feel entitled to a speedy process here. I extra absolutely feel entitled to a process similarly speedy to that enjoyed by our North-Easter brothers and sisters who file through VT.

He's still going to comply with the laws here. He won't be stealing American jobs. Doesn't sound like he's moving here for the welfare benefits. He won't be an undocumented worker or illegal alien. Sounds like victimless crime to me.

Again, like I said, my opinion. Which has nothing to do with the laws or anyone's need to follow them.

Thank You for saving me the time to type that out.

The OP is asking a reasonable question. I assumed you should be able to go about immigrating this way. The OP would be coming into the country legally, and the Govt would have his fingerprints and he could AOS as normal. I dont think this is a sense of entitlement. They would be marrying a US citizen to AOS. I dont find that morally bad in any way. Anyone can come to america and not leave. Regardless if they wait 6 monthes or more for a K-1 visa. I made the personal desicion to use the K-1 visa route. I like to play things safe. I think that "My sense of Entitlement" as someone has said is completely normal and how I think the government should be working for us as citizens.

The constitution was written for the people. I think everyone should read it and understand WHY it was written. I could use a refresher myself.

( This post is 100 percent my Opinion and if I offend... Well no harm intended. )

  17. I'm saying you should be prepared to answer those questions which could be asked. Do I think it is a problem - either practically or morally - no, not in the slightest. I'm fine with it. But again, whatever I'm fine with isn't something anyone should base a decision on.

I dont have a problem with it either. If the OP wants to give it a go knowing that there may be a chance of a problem in the future, that is his choice.

Dont even get me started on "Big Brother"

The real issue here is how sad it is that people are forced to consider ways to trick the system. Why should it take up to a year to bring a US citizens fiance' or Wife back home. Its pathetic!

  18. Hey guys,

We are working on the I-134 form right now, just wondering if Sam needs to go to the USCIS or embessy in the states to swear in front of a officer for sumitting the form? Please help!

Is it necessary to do that as long as he needs to fill in the form? What if his daddy is our main spousor, does Sam still need to be sworn before an officer to make it work?

    :help:

That is an excellent question. All he needs is a notary seal.

Dont pay any attention to the rude people that troll these forums 24/7. If THEY would read the I-134 themselves more carefully they would see it written a little confusing.

"Being Duly Sworn Depose and Say"

    ALSO

    "Oath or Affirmation of Sponsor"

Both are qouted from the I-134 !!

  19. LOL about the Twinings Breakfast Tea, it's so true, although weak in appearance & lacking in that "tea" taste it was only slightly better than the "black tea" they had! I did however discover PG Tips in the CUB Food supermarket when I was visiting MN last year and it tasted exactly like ours :)

Applogies in advance if I have offended anyone on here about the American Tea! I'm just too fussy when it comes to me Tea ;)

Cub Foods does carry PG Tips. Cub foods is only in the upper Midwest to my knowledge. They even carry Batchelor's Mushy Peas!!!

Otherwise this is the site I use. They sell rashers !!
