  1. Yayyy! I went on my interview today and I passed. The Oath taking ceremony is on the same day!   Thank you to all of you and Goodluck to everyone who are still waiting for the interview.

My interviewer was male, he was nice and with sense of humor. My interview took about 25 minutes, he asked my to remain standing did the oath then he asked me if I want him to go through my application first or do the test. I chose to take the test first and he said "Great choice". The questions he asked are :

    1. What is the name of the national anthem?

    2. What is the rule of law?

    3. What major event happened in Sept. 11?

    4. How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?

    5. What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?

    6. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

    Reading:

    * How many states does the United State have?

    Written:

    * There are 50 states in the United States.

He then told me that I passed the civic/reading and writing test. He went through my application and told me that I will be taking the Oath in 2hrs. I told him I'm going to mess with my husband and tell him that I didn't pass. He asked me if I want him to do it for me and I said that It would be cool...lol! He asked me to remain in his office and he went outside asked my husband to come inside because he needed to talk to him about my interview. He asked my hubby to sit down..he was so serious! He then told me if I wanna go ahead tell my husband what's going on. I told my husband I didn't pass...lol! My hubby's reaction was hilarious and the interviewer then told him that the reason I didn't pass is because he didn't stamp my application yet....:D !

Whooohhoooo!! Just got home from the Fresno Office. I PASSED!! And my Oath Ceremony will be on November 15.

I walked in, the guy told me to swear to say the truth, then he started with the civics. The questions were:

    1. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

    2. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

    3. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

    4. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?

    5. What is one reason colonists came to America?

    6. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

After that he told me to READ the question: What state has the most people?

And he told me to WRITE: California has the most people.

Then he went through ALL my application, asking my address, jobs I had, school, the trips outside the U.S., if I was single, if I had kids, asked all the questions on the PART 10 of the Application Form.

I was so nervous, right when I got out I couldn't remember the questions, but on the way home, everything started to get clear. Lol

And that was MY experience. I thought it was going to be much worse, but the man that interviewed was very gentle and kind.

My journey is pratically done. Good Luck now for those who are about to go to the interview.

    Congrats!

  2. Hi! I have read in different forums that minor traffic violation won't affect the N-400 process but I have some questions. My car got hit early this month while changing lane and had some fender bender. To make the story short the cop hand me a citation for unsafe change of lane. I went to court to contest it but they said that since this is my first time to have a traffic violation, I am eligible for the "Deffered entry" which I need to make sure that my driving records will be clean for another six months and the case will be dissmiss and it wont go on my record. Would this 6months deffered entry affect my N-400 process? And does it mean I am on probation or something? I am not familiar with this so maybe anyone out there had the same experience that you could share. This have been worrying me so much this past few weeks. Thanks!

  3. Hi! I just checked my status online and noticed that my case for "APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS " back in 2007 for my 2 year conditional greencard has been touch January 2010. Has anyone had any experience on this and any idea why they would check on my case that was done 3 yrs ago? Or i am just being paranoid...lol

  4. If they wanted to have the divorce I dont see a problem that would affect his GC. He has a 10yr GC which means he should be fine as long as he waits after 5yrs to file for citizenship. Goodluck and your friend is lucky to have a good friend like you. Sorry to hear about your friends marriage not working out but it is what it is and there is no permanent thing in this world and unluckily things just doesn't work out for them. Life is short live it and enjoy while you still can!

  5. No relationship is perfect..some works and some don't no matter how hard you try eventhough both people feel that they are perfect for each other at first. It's up to them if they want to make things work. Eventhough they are having problems along the way the main concern that the immigration is looking at is wether your friend came here in the US and married your friend not just for GC. As long as their relationship or marriage was genuine before he enters the US then I dont see why your friend would be in trouble. Did he asked his wife to marry him just for greencard or anything like that? If NOT, then he has nothing to worry about.

  6. Marital union examples would be be your joint-bank statements together, utility bills or any bills both in your name, insurance, rental agreement boht in your name or if you own a house that both in your name then you can use that also. I mean anything that would proved that you are married and live together in one roof. Proof of resident is your GC and your passport proved that you have lived continuously in the US and is eligible for 3yrs or 5yrs rule requirement for citizenship.

  7. Can you tell me why you think it would be a headache overseas if you dont change? Is her new name now the name she is using on all US documents(tax, SSN, etc)? The reason im asking is because i have change my name after we got married in court and had to pay over $100. Since my I change my name right after we got married all my US documents are under my new name. But my passport is still my real name and is different from my other documents and i have travelled overseas with them and i didnt encounter any problem as long as I have supporting docs with me(name change docs, birth cert.)

  8. Since you are a spouse of active duty you may file under Military dependents and family which you have to mail your application to Nebraska Service Center instead of Arizona. You don't have to be in the service to qualify for 319(b). As long as your husband is in the military and has orders to deploy overseas anytime soon and you are going with him then you are qualify to apply under 319(b) or you can wait until you guys deploy and do the process over there.

  9. The requirement is on the ROM form. The ROM application that we have here at California Embassy (Im in Seattle but California is our nearest embassy) doesn't require us to submit any pictures and fill-up a form as to why we didn't report our marriage within a year. I guess it depends on what state you file it from.

They only asked us to submit the following:

    Marriage certificate

Photo ID(State ID, driver license etc.)

    Birth certificate

    $25 processing fee

  10. If you became an LPR since March 2006 then you only have few months to wait to be eligible for the 5yrs rule citizenship application. You only have less than 5 months waiting time be qualified:dance:   Just hang in there!

There isn't that much requirement that you have to submit for the 5yrs citizenship application compared to 3yrs rule application. Just proof of you being physically presenf here and haven't been out of the country for more than 6 months, income tax, GC, Birth Certificate, passport, etc....

  11. It's only gonna take one day to do the report of marriage process. I was able to ammend my passport at the same day! I would suggest you ROM that day then apply for passport that day also. YOu won't get your passport the same day. They have to mail it to you and it will take atleast a few weeks or even months. Once you report your marriage that the same day, I believe that they'd be able to adjust your lastname on your passport too!

And YES, they will give you a copy of your ROM application but they will tell you that it should be available at the Philippine census after 6months.

  12. Yes, We're thinking about reporting my marriage to the phil. consulate, I just don't know how long its gonna take. I'm going to send the papers this week.

We planned about going on 2nd week of October. Hope we can have it (copy of processed rom) by then.

btw, if we don't do the ROM what should I click on status, husband name? I'd like to write my husband info but I don't know if its going to make any confusion?

    any thoughts?
