  1. Hi - My N400 interview went well and my oath ceremony is scheduled for next month. The officer during my N-400 interview told me I need to bring my current (foreign) passport to the Oath Ceremony.

Did anyone else also experience & hear this from their officer during their interview? I want to confirm that my current (foreign) passport will not be taken from me at the Oath Ceremony. Thank you!

Hi - did you travel already? My wife and I are about to head back after a vacation to Mexico, and I'm wondering if she can now go in the same line as me with the conditional GC? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

Yes - travelled in and out of the country successfully! Both my wife and I were able to re-enter the country in the same line (US citizens & GC holders).

My husband received his green card in February. We had traveled to his home country with advance parole before that. After receiving the green card, we traveled for four months this summer backpacking Europe. We re-entered without any issues. We are traveling to his home country next month for Christmas too. You're totally fine to travel.

Great to know! Thank you for your response!

  4. Hi all!

Big thank you to everyone who has contributed and provided assistance in this forum throughout this long process - I have finally received my green card (category CF1)!

I am looking to travel internationally later this month for a short vacation. Is there anything i need to carry (other than my new green card) ? This process has made me a little paranoid about travelling internationally, and I want to make sure I do it properly! Has anyone travelled using their new green card? Any advice is very much appreciated!

  5. Hi all,

SF resident here - Finally received my AOS interview notice for the 19 September! I originally entered the US on a K1 visa.

    A couple of questions:

-My interview notice was sent to my old address in SF (luckily I still have access and was able to receive this letter). I had already updated my address earlier this year and had this confirmed by a level 1 agent when I called. Obviously, this didn't update properly through all the USCIS systems.... sigh..
Assuming I am granted my conditional green card, what is the best way to ensure this will be sent to my new address? Should this be done on the day of the interview? Has anyone else experienced this before?

-my medical was completed in April 2018. Is this still valid ? I want to confirm that the validity period is 2 years.

    Thank you!

  6. Hi all,

    1) Firstly, I am currently waiting for my AOS interview. I have my EAD card in hand but not my AP. I unwisely never applied for my AP :(
Long story short, I now would like to visit home later this year (assuming I don't hear back with an AOS interview date before then).

How does this work exactly? Will I be issued a seperate AP card along with my EAD card? -- I was under the impression that typically the EAD / AP are applied at the same time and thus are combined onto the one card? Has anyone experienced a similar situation where they have applied for the EAD and AP cards at different times?

    2) Secondly, I recently sent in an application to renew my I-765 EAD. I received this receipt in the mail (see image) and my eligibility category is C09. I want to confirm that this means I am eligible for the 180 day extension provided I don't receive the EAD renewal before my current card expires. If anyone has received the same message and can confirm whether I am / am not eligible for the 180 day extension that would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!!

  7. Hi all,

Good to hear some people are making progress!

Quick question - my EAD card will be sent to my address in the coming days... yay!

But I am actually out of town for the next week and I know the cards are sent via the 'USPS Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery' mode. Can these type of parcels be redirected to the post office and held there for me to sign and pick up later on? Has anyone heard of similar stories??

I have attempted to do this on the USPS website. im not sure if the redirect has been processed correctly.. but would like to know if anyone can share some thoughts!

    Thank you!

  8. Hey guys,

    I sent my i765 & i485 forms together to USCIS on April 17 2018.

On my i765 form, i put the code A6 on it instead of C9. Big mistake, I realise.

However, when I received my NOA for my I-765, it clearly states that my eligibility category is C09. No mention of A6. Do you think the USCIS corrected this on my behalf? Do you think I need to follow them up to correct the original mistake in the form, or would that be doing more harm then good.

Any similar experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all!!

  9. Hi all,

I am attempting to expedite my case via 'financial hardship'. I have a job offer contract at the moment. Two questions:

    1) Do i need to send additional info to prove my financial hardship apart from my job offer contract? (it states in the letter "fax evidence from your employer as well as evidence of your severe financial loss"). From what I read on these forums, I was under the impression the job offer would satisfy this. Just want to confirm.

    2) Anyone had any issues with the fax number? I have been struggling to send the info across over the last few days. Keeps saying the number is busy. I called the USCIS and they said this is the only way to send the info across!! Very frustrating. Assume because the line is super busy.

    Thanks!

  10. Hi all,

Has anyone had any recent success (in 2018) of expediting their EAD ? And could they tell me how they did it??

I have a current job offer contract for a start date of mid July 2018. My AOS / EAD cases were sent to USCIS in April 2018.

Can anyone provide advice (I need to cite financial hardship, right?) or a template for how I should expedite this??

Any risks I should be aware of??

    Thank you!!

  11. Hi all,

I arrived in the USA two months ago on a K1 visa. I was married and immediately applied for my EAD and AOS documents.

However! Last week, I was travelling domestically in the states and misplaced/lost my passport.

Will this effect my EAD / AOS documents? Can anyone provide any advice/clarity of the steps I need to do from here on to ensure i don't run into further trouble?!?

Really appreciate anyones help - Thanks in advance!

We are APPROVED, after 293 long, long days. Never in our wildest dreams did we think the process would take this long. A huge weight has been lifted to finally be at this point. Now we have to just wait for my passport  and packet to be sent out, I am hoping to fly on the 6th April, we do have the Easter break (public holidays) coming up which just may delay things by a few days, I have everything crossed that we get them in time.

I can't begin to describe how fretful the lead up to the interview was, it is so important and the last hurdle, will I forget something, will I find the building, will my medical packet magically open on its own, what will the interviewer be like, what questions will I be asked...... It was a nerve racking morning, but I did find other lovely people facing the interview as well, we were all  having the same minor panic attacks. We joined forces and supported each other, friendly banter while waiting it made such a difference. I wish I knew the outcome for everyone, Jess before me was approved.

I will do a review for the consulate as the past reviews that I have read helped me understand the process of the day and what to expect. Best of luck to everyone still waiting for their interview, be honest, speak the truth and it will be ok.

    Great news!!!! congratulations

Have you received your passport back yet?

  13. I have an additional question for anyone who can share their experience.

I will need to have my medical completed in Melbourne before I travel up to Sydney for the interview. I am currently travelling too, so I will need to return back to Australia once I have the interview date confirmed.

What is the shortest time frame I can book the medical before the interview date? (Will one week be sufficient assuming the medical goes smoothly)

Worse case scenario, am I able to complete the interview without the medical paperwork coming through? What would happen in this case? (I assume the visa wouldn't be issued until the medical paperwork comes through? I hope the visa couldn't be denied based on the medical paperwork not being processed?).

    Thanks all!

  14. Hi all,

I am a beneficiary from Sydney, Australia currently applying for the k1 visa.

Our approved application is currently sitting with the consulate in Sydney after being processed by the NVC. My petitioner has lodged the DS-160 form online and we have paid our visa fee $265usd. I was hoping if someone can confirm the steps from here.

Do I need to receive the instructions via the mail before I can book the interview? I am away from my house for the next two weeks (will it arrive in the mail and/or does it need to be signed for ie I need to be there at the house?) Can anyone confirm?

Am I able to book the interview in now? I am currently unable to do this on the US Travel Docs website.

    Thank you in advance !

I would also suggest you to go to the medical clinic before taking the medical. You can have the vacination shots done at a cheper price than during the medical. Sometimes they can also just take the antibodies to examine if you've already been vaccinated before. But better consult with a doctor. The thing is, if you leave it all for the medical, they might not be able to give you all the shots in one day as some of them mught be not mixed or there's supposed to be a waiting period (Like i took a flue shot a week ago and the doctor told me not to get any other vaccination done within a month) which means you'll have to do the other ones missing in the states which might be even more expensive as sometimes insurances don't cover vaccines. So, if I were you I'd definitely go and talk to the local vaccine therapist, show them the list of vaccines nedded and consult on what's you best option. Cuz you might start doing them now and finish some during the medical. So by the time you enter the States, all the viccines will be done.

Regarding the surgery, I haven't heard of the stories when it was an issue. So, don't worry.
P.S. I'm not a doctor and haven't taken a medical myself but been reading a lot on the Russian forums about it. Good luck!

Thanks Marta, great advice! I will do just that and contact the clinic.

    Really appreciate your response! :)

  16. Hi,

Can anyone confirm if finger prints are required with their national police check for k1 visa purposes?

The Australian federal police have two options the applicant can select:

-national police check $42 (online application)

-national police check with fingerprints $139 (postal application and finger prints taken at local station).

Any experiences related to this would be greatly appreciated. Obviously would prefer to do the online application for convenience purposes.

    Thanks!

  17. Hi all,

I am expecting to receive my k1 packet from my local consulate shortly.

I wanted to hear if anyone has booked their medical and k1 consulate interviews (mine will be in Sydney) before they received their k1 packet from their local consulate?

Obviously want to try and book in a time now so I can minimise interview and consulate waiting times.

    Advisable / not advisable?

    Thanks!
