  1. Hello Everyone,

I have not been on VJ in forever, so I wanted to say hi and share alittle about my story. My husband and I have been married now for over 3 years. When we filed for a fiancee visa, it took about 9 months before it was approved. My hubby is now an LPN and he will be a RN within a year. When I met him, he was going to college in Amsterdam and he received his Master's degree, but when he moved here he decided to change fields.

Shortly after he moved here, he encouraged me to go to school and be whatever I wanted to be...I have received my Associates since then and now I am a Junior at UCF. I go to school FT and currently my husband is the bread winner and he has been so supportive towards me going to college, I feel really Blessed to say the least.

Even after being married for what seems like eternity....we still have cultural differences. He does not eat American food, I eat only afew Nigerian dishes...he does not have a romantic bone in his body (although he does call me honey bunny) and I have always been a romantic at heart. I do love my husband and even though we do have our differences and sometimes bump heads...I avoid heated arguements to the best of my ability, I don't sweat the small stuff...and I think that is what has kept this marriage together...I simply hate drama and I avoid it by all means. If my husband does something that bother's me or upset's me...I usually express my feelings in a civilized manner..and I think he listens to me and understands my concerns.

He went home to Nigeria after not being there for over 5 years recently...he had the opportunity to stay there for about 5 weeks (I had class)....and during our little break away from each other it made us appreciate each other a little better. Before he left, he set up a US number on my cell and saved it and when I called that number, it would automatically go straight to him in Nigeria...and he had me call him every single day while he was a way :)

He may not be very romantic, but I can see that he does have a heart of gold. Marriage with someone who has many differences with you is difficult, but if you have patience and always remember there WILL be differences, you can make it through whatever comes your way. I show my husband on a daily basis the love I have for him, I let him know that I will always be his biggest fan, and I always try to make him laugh...I think he knows that his happiness means alot to me and I know that he will always want whats best for me and my children.

I'm sorry for rambling on and on....I wish everyone the best on your journey. Unfortunately, I do not come on VJ anymore because my journey is 100% completed and school keeps me busy..on top of my family. Take care and God Bless EVERYONE (F)(F)(F)(F) I am on Facebook, if anyone wants to add me (I am friends on FB with other VJ members) my name is Crystal Haupert or email is crystal_haupert@yahoo.com

  2. VISA IN HAND!!!!!!!!!!

They nearly didn't give it us, but there was NO WAY in H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS I was going to leave the embassy without it.

First they told us they didn't have it, I said yes you do we were told it would be ready today, because our plane leaves tomorrow morning

then they said we didn't have an appointment, I said oh yes we do, see this little green piece of paper it says 28 September at 1400 that is TODAY right now this is our appointment,

then they told me to leave and call the consulars office, I said I'm standing here right now I will speak to someone here and now I am not calling

then they said you need to come back tomorrow, I said NO our appoint is today and our plane leaves tomorrow morning

then they said the woman who puts the packet together wasn't there, I said we were told it would be ready today at 1400 we are leaving tomorrow morning we need it right now.

then they said why can't you come back tomorrow, I said, OUR PLANE LEAVES AT 0700AM IN THE MORNING (do you think I could have been any clearer???) we cannot come back tomorrow we must have it TODAY!

With each reason they gave us I stood ABSOLUTELY firm and told I was NOT leaving without the visa. My husband said a couple times, maybe we should be patient and just come back tomorrow, I told him NO, they gave us an appointment for today at this time and I am NOT leaving. God gave me the boldness to stand my ground and refuse to leave. Finally they allowed us into the embassy and within 2 minutes we had the visa in our hands! Not only that the cover page on the envelope stated that the package was complete on 24 Sept at 4:30pm. I can't believe they tried to lie to me and tell me it wasn't ready!!!! I think I was a bit scary to the woman at the window on the outside of the embassy, she kept fumbling and calling different people LOL!!!!

:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: I am sooooooo happy for you, isn't God Good????

  4. Application Type: CRI89 , PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS

    Current Status: Card production ordered.

On August 24, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. I filed on 14th April and did my biometrics around late May.

  5. 1) Buy a huge piece of land and build a cat shelter/sanctuary. Any cat surrendered would have a home until it's dying day without euthanasia being threatened. It would be free roaming with huge enclosures.

    2) Buy a home in the UK, so I could split my time between the USA and UK.

There's nothing else that comes to mind.

If I ever win the lottery, I am going to get in contact with you...to help me build a cat shelter/sanctuary...and in return, I will buy you a home in the UK :) I go around my neighborhood every day and make rounds feeding alot of feral/homeless cats...it breaks my heart seeing a animal living on the street or in a shelter :(

  6. Hello

When I met my hubby..we were dating and he was a nigerian going to school in The Netherlands. I visited him afew times and then we filed for the fiancee visa and he had his interview in The Netherlands...after he was approved, he came straight to the USA...as long as your SO has a valid student visa for the country he is going to school at...everything should be good. We filed for the fiancee visa in June of 2006 and he had his interview in Jan of 2007. I wish I could answer your other questions, but I am really not sure of the answers. I wish you the best on your journey and I also wish you and your SO a lifetime of happiness :)

  7. Last night I brought home some BBQ ribs and Chicken from a dinner I was invited to, so I reheated the meat and made baked potato w/ butter and sour cream and string beans...for desert it was a fruit salad (last nights dinner)....it was very good.

  8. The hair texture between the whites and blacks are very very different. My husband, who is black, would not feel comfortable with a white person cutting/ trimming is hair because he likes to have it edged and to be honest...black barbers are a lot more experienced in doing that. I am white and I have gone to a black hair salon and had my hair put in a french twist, but it did not come out right because it had alot of black hair care products in it (oil sheen, hair gel) and it made my hair look real greasy. I think that if you want to the best results, you have to make sure that you are dealing with some one who caters to all hair types.

If you are white and go to the hood to get your haircut, then I honestly believe that it would be very uncomfortable because of course it is something that you had never experienced. I think that best option would be to go somewhere where you will feel comfortable.
