  1. I keep reading that the 13A visa is permanent if applying outside of Philippines but it is probationary for 1 year if applied inside the Philippines. I cannot however find anything that backs this up from any authoritative source such as the Bureau of Immigration or the actual law of 1940. I'm inquiring because the my local Philippine Consulate in the US says it is probationary even though the application will be filled in the US. They have been constantly wrong on many accounts and I have had to correct them in the past. Can anyone help?

  2. I'm Filipino in the US on a gren card. My husband is a US citizen. We are trying to get him a 13a permanent visa but the consulate general in SFC keeps denying it (and they dojt answer the phone). A lady there told me they cant process the visa because I was not a dual citizen. This makes no sense to me and based on my research  there is nothing saying that. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice on this situation? The visa section at the consulate is totally unresponsive.

You'll have to wait.  We went to the Social Security office one week after he arrived to ask if he was in their system.  We were told it was too soon to know.  They said wait another week and then come back if he didn't have his Social Security card by then.

    Thanks for the info.

My husband (K-1 Visa) checked the box requesting a social security number on his DS-230, but it never arrived.  Wait for 2 weeks after your arrival.  If your card hasn't arrived by then, go to your local Social Security office.  They will be able to tell you whether your request is in the system and being processed.  If it's not, you can apply for a number right there at the office.

Yes that's I will do too have to wait.. I'm just only confused if I need to apply or wait.

You're not a CR1 anymore, you are Lawful Permanent Resident, aka a green card holder (even if you are not physically holding it yet - it takes a few weeks for it to come in the mail).

So no need to apply for a green card.

SSN: it depends on whether you checked the box in your DS-260. If you did, a social security card will be mailed soon. If not, you need to go to a SSA office and apply.

    Yeah I agree

My spouse made no mention of difficulty, though you may be referring to a clear packet that contains everything, vs. opening the brown envelope.  The clear packet from the video below can be opened to retrieve the passport, without opening the brown envelope.

    This may be handy:

Oh thanks I already retrieve my passport inside of the packet.. that video is a big help.

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have received interview scheduling instructions.

Does it say "READY" with the statement above?

Can you copy and paste what it says underneath READY

It should change to Admin eventually and "issued"

I just done my interview this morning and I'm  approved so when I checked nvc case status it still say same thing when nvc gave me a interview scheduled. "'Ready"

Nope.  You have your medical file from SLEC ?  That is all that is required.

Follow the embassy instructions letter for what is required.
