The embassy mailed my husband's papers (pakcket 3) to him with all the medical stuff that is required. He received a list of doctors to choose from. Your fiance will make an appointment with one of the doctors that is on the list and will bring the forms that the embassy mailed to him so the doctor will fill them out. At least that is how the embassy in Jordan did it.
Yeah it took us two months to get the NOA2 (the NOA1 just says that Vermont received it and that only takes days after submitting the application) and then only about two weeks from the NOA2 to the time my husband got the pkt3. Had we done everything ahead of time and submitted the pkt3 when we got it then he would probably already have had his interview by now and we'd be in AP. I know Deemabrouk's interview was scheduled fairly quickly after submitting the pkt3, though a while back it used to take on average 4 months from the time the pkt 3 was sent in. I think they're doing better these days as far as that is concerned.Took a while for my husband to get his passport not because of getting the passport but because getting the military papers was time consuming since he couldn't find his old birth certificate information proving he was the only son since it got lost when his father died...so he had to go all over the universe getting that stuff squared away first.
Also, you can have the papers translated if you want but it's not necissary. Nouna's fiance didn't and he should be getting his visa soon.
And...in addition, although Vermont is super fast they are super super fast when it's a K-1. I forget her name but someone here going through Morocco filed when I did and her fiance got here a few weeks ago. I believe their petition got approved through Vermont in 1 week.
Egypt does take longer but being with Vermont speeds you up a good few months. The long wait will be AP/AR. For some reason, although the security checks could be done within a week (again in Deemabrouk's case), Cairo will sit on it possibly for months. THAT is the frustrating aspect of this whole thing.
Doodlebug, I was looking at your timeline, do you think K3's are approved faster than a K1? Yours seemes to be moving soo fast.
Also, does anyone know....once u get the packet 3 how long does it take to get your medical examination appointment?
No, like I said before, the k-1's seem to be approved a lot faster via Vermont than the k-3's and as far as I can tell the timelines that are up in the "immigration timelines" area are quite accurate...a heck of a lot more than those on the vermont service center site.
You can get your medical appt anytime, you don't have to wait for the pkt 3, but I'm not sure how long the results are good for. It only took my husband two days to get the appt but it took him a week to get the results. Good luck!
How does one go about getting the medical appointment? Does someone have a list of doctors they can give me in Cairo? Does he need the paperwork to have the doctor fill out? Would be GREAT if he could schedule the appointment as soon as we get our approval...that would only be a few weeks tilll he gets his packet 3. Does anyone have this list that I could have my guy contact a doctor . Isn't there certain papers the doctor must fill in? Where can he get those? That would be awesome if he could get it done between the noa2 and the packet 3 coming in. Im sure 2 or 3 weeks won't hurt. WE just don't want ANYTHING to delay this. THanks

well congrats on the first steps of your journey! It wont hurt to collect the supporting evidence but keep in mind, the USCIS is always updating their forms and you would hate to have expired forms for your interview. I am not quite sure about how far in advanced about the employer and/or bank employer can be dated since each embassy is different. I would email the embassy and ask. I wish you a speedy process!!!
We just filed our K1 papers last week. I know we can start to collect our papers now and financial information for our I134. My question is....how close do the interview date does the I134, letter from employer and letter from bank need to be dated. I know I'll need a new letter of intent close to that date....but what about these other items...is it best to wait till the packet 3 arrives or slightly before? Or can we get these now...Thanks...

I am so excited for you Angie!!!! Im sure that last night was the longest night in life...lol I hope your husband has an easy time at the airport. Was this his first plane ride? Have a great reunion with your husband!!
Yeah I can't sleep. i just got the call from Hasan's bestfriend that he is already in the departure area and that his plane is scheduled to leave at 11:30 am Jordan time which is in one hour from now. I am so excited that i should be sleeping since it will be 22 hours from now that I his plane should arrive in San Francisco. I have 50 million things running through my head and pray that I will come down soon so that i can sleep. When I spoke to him a couple of hours ago when he woke up he said that he only got 3 hours of sleep last night.
I can't believe that we finally get to start our life together after being apart for 10 3/4 months. Thanks be to God this part of our Journey will be finished.
For those of you still waiting I pray that you will be reunited very soon. I know it is hard to read when you are waiting that others are being reunited and you are waiting. It was hard for me and I had to learn to truely be happy for others so that my day could come. I used to cry and think how unfair, well I learned alot and about how to not be envious but happy for thoses that are being blessed.
Ok well I have to go and lay in bed so I can hopefully fall asleep very soon as I am going to have a very busy day and night.
Happy June 21st to all.

yes angie, u are exactly RIGHT!! lol
I also was in shock when i went to plug in my hair dryer...lol- Dont bring your electrical devices, we tried using the converters and it burnt up my stuff. Luckily, my husband has sisters and I used their stuff. The plane ride is LONG! i brought 3 personal dvd players to keep myself occupied. I cant sit still...lol I know this has got to be very nervous for u but exciting as well. I wish u the best and hope that your wedding goes great! Maybe u should bring the form G325A with you so you can have your husband sign it. In fact bring all the forms with you so when u get back u can hurry and file it before the rates go up at the end of July. Good Luck!!!
I enjoyed Jordan very much but there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!
Well for once I can honestly say I don't want to go to Jordan.Ok I married last July in Jordan but not in a Christian Church. I had to pay in the embassy american money for the paper and my husband had to wirte what they wanted in Arabic on the paper. DOn't forget the blood test and having all the papers translated into Arabic and his into English. make sure if he plans to have you go to a salon that either you can speak arabic or have some one there that can speak engilsh. I tri[pped out when they shaved my arms, I guess it is normal to wax them but I wasn't sure what they where saying so the shaved them.
Hope you have been advised that as soon as you get off the plane in Jordan you need to go to the little booth right as soon as you come down the ramp and change money so you have JOrdanian Dinairs so that you can step a couple of steps to the next booth and pay for the visa to be stamped in your passport before you go to get in the lines to be checked through. I only went one time but loved it. A couple of the ladies here helped me to be able to get this far when I arrived. I hope that you will be staying where western toliets are and if not be in for a very big surpirse. you will abousloutley love the food so don't be afraid to try it. The coffee beware unless you like a triple expresso. Take baby wipes, and tooth paste as the floride is much different then what we are accustom too.
Have fun shopping, purses, shoes, perfume, jewelry.
Ok I have to go to sleep, please pm me or any of the others that went to jordan if you have any questions.
Angie

hmmm i wish my memory was better but i do recall going to the embassy in Jordan getting a document before I married but I am not sure what exactly it was. About a piece of paper about your ex being "christian" i wonder why they would want that. What difference does it make what religion ur ex was. It's not like we walk around with a "christian license"...lol How is one suppose to prove it?
I hope it all works out for you! Have you been to Jordan before?
Well, I think all i brought with me was my original birth certificate and original divorce papers. I cant remember anything else. I hope your time in Jordan is wonderful! What papers is the church demanding from you? I am sure you can go to your City Hall and request a certified birth certificate and if you have been married before go to the court and request your divorce papers. I really dont know what else they would ask for. Have Fun!!!!!
Hi, I'm getting ready to leave. My wedding is planned for July 5. Any one here have experiance marrying a Christian in Jordan. I'm leaving Sunday and suddenly the church is demanding papers from me that is impossible for me to get, let alone in 2 business days. I'm getting frustrated.Maggie
The church is asking for that stuff which I have...but today they want a paper saying I have not been married since divorce and they want a paper saying my ex husband was christian too. It's crazy. I can promise that if hell froze over this very min my ex would give me nothing to help me. He hate that I'm getting married he was hoping I would come to my senses and come back to him. I came to my senses that's why I divorced him..lol. I'm hoping for the best but if nothing else we can always go for a fiance visa right? I hope to be starting a timeline soon.

ResponseAmman@state.gov- try emailing them and getting and interview date.Be sure to include your case number on the inquiry. Also, the visa entry, I highly doubt it, it wont hurt to try but more than likely, he wont be able to. I wish the both of you the best of luck.
My husband and i got married last year on July 16, 2006. We are filing for immigrant visa without K-1 or K-3. Case was completed on April 26, 2007. Still no interview scheduled. i hope your dog gets better! is she getting up there in age?? my dog has osteoarthritis. It is hard for him sometimes getting up from his sleep.
And for the embassy...do they know what they are doing???
Well I have to take my baby (dog) to the vet today cos she is not wanting to jump and that is not like her.Want to choke out my husband as I was askinghim lastnight when he was going to be coming, he said when he gets visa in hand, sells the car, then he will call and find out how much the ticket and buy "so what is the problem?"
I swear he thinks you I live my life on a moment to moment basis. He siad no need for details just results, my reply was well when you sit waiting at the ariport for someone to pick you up cos maybe i a prior engagement then I guess you will see what the HE!! I was talking about. He is really going to be in for a rude awakening.
Called DOS to see if the VISA was issued and the lady said that no decision has been made on the case, she didn't know that the passport was kept. So I asked what does it say and she jsut said interview June 5th. She said well maybe they have to review the documents, I said wel that would mean if AP was needed then he would of recieved a 221g right, she said yes or did they give him anohter form? I said yeah the form they gave him was so that he could pay Armex the fee to send his passport back. I said so really you have no clue right? Her reply, All I can do is read the case notes! So I asked her to check the other case K3 to see what is happening with that one, she said still processing. I asked ok what are the still processing, her reply, I don't know!
So I had my laugh for the day and have to get ready to run around go to graduations tonight and remember that if DOS tells you something just say oh ok thanks!

Last year, I had an "owl statue" in the garden and believe it or not, the head came off halfway during summer..lol ( i must have violent birds...lol...kids wont fess up to the missing head..lol)
I will try putting some "fake snakes and painted rocks" hopefully the snakes will stay intact...lol
My grandmother always said that birds were creatures of habit. Wherever they find food, they will return to. She always painted rocks red and placed them near the strawberries. The birds would think they were food and try to eat them. When they realized they were not a food source they would leave and the strawberries would be safe! It always seemed to work for her, so I guess you could try that for next year. And, she would always put down something to look like snakes, some painted hose, or streamers. Birds don't like snakes? LOL -
The obligation does end after a certain amount of time, i do remember reading that on the Affidavit of Support. I just cant remember when. I wish i could be more helpful.
I think I read somewhere that affidavit of support ceases to be binding on the USC spouse when the non-USC spouse becomes a USC ( say 3 years after obtaining GC).Is that true?
Anyone please elaborate.
Thanks

Good luck to you both!!!!

tammy sue kay,
the only problem with our garden is that we cant keep the birds out of it!!lol they love the strawberries
any tips how to keep the rodents out????
I love to garden! At this time I have 24 tomato plants, 4 pound of beans, and 6 pounds of onions to get into the ground. Have to get the peppers and cukes too! There is nothing in the world that tastes better than veggies from your own garden. The strawberries are already being picked in Michigan! I have to go pick a couple of lugs today, before all the good ones are gone. Happy Weekend everyone!

T.G.I.F !!!
We will be planting our garden this weekend! Hope everybody has a great weekend!

2 years???? OUCH!!! that is crazy! We just started the AOS/EAD process in April that is scary, does your husband have to keep renewing his EAD then?
Hey everybody,I just read the recent thread about things that MENA people miss most in the States and it had me nodding and grinning!
Misses the food? Check. Sense of community spirit? Check. His Mom? Won't discuss it, but check...
And decent (partiularly European-ish) clothes? Double check!!
Our biggest question for everyone here relates to the TV issue.
We don't have a satellite dish and it isn't really an option where we're renting currently. Tonight, we started looking into websites offering $30-40 downloadable software for streaming live "online TV" via the computer...
Has anyone tried this stuff, or heard about it from anyone else who has? I tend not to trust online stuff very much, but we agreed to look into the options and ask for feedback from others first.
Some of these websites seem pretty questionable -- poorly designed ads, and you can't access a full list of channels. But others look almost reputable. And it would be worth the $40 for him to be able to watch his soccer, and maybe a few Arabic language stations. (The major ones at least, if finding a specifically Moroccan station is too much to hope for.)
Anybody heard about these programs? Particularly as respects futbol and Arabic language stuff?
Best wishes to everyone as our spouses continue adjusting,
E
AOS Interview (in Michigan)
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
i was wondering if anybody from the Detroit area could share their experiences with their AOS interview. What kind of questions they asked, how long, etc.
My husband is here on K3 and we have our interview at the end of July. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
