  1. Um, yes it is. Many UK filers cannot even get through to a human on the phone at the consulate.
I am sorry to hear this. I wish there was better customer service all around.

Sorry, I thought the process would be the same everywhere, they are "U.S." Consulates, right. Anyway I will give out the rest of the info once we have the visa in hand. I don't want to hurt our chances. Anyway, this is a consulate in a country that does not have many people going throught the K-1 process, and no one on this site is going through this consulate to my knowledge. Sorry if my posts seem crypitic, that was not the intent.

The intent of my post was to give some others who are going through third word consulates another avenue. This is an important advantage in the third world where he postal system is slow and unreliable. I would think that this would not be near the advantage in the UK.

Yadrak-- My point was that they have put us into the queue before they have even received the package from the NVC. They did this because she has "received" the official package 3 from them and "confirmed receipt" of package. Doing this in person saved us at least a month in mailing time.

I want to help everyone on this sight but I must watch out for my fiancee and myself first.

Anyway i hope this might help some people. We share a common goal. I wish you all the best.

  2. Michael, it really isn't going to help the community much if you don't disclose the country.

I will be happy to disclose the country once we have our visa in hand, but right now I won't disclose anything about my case, not even the timeline, for fear that someone might put me back into the standard(show) channel.

The country is not really important. I would think that a few pleasant phone calls might direct you to the correct person who can help you. I would think that this would be true at any consulate, wheather in Lima or Moscow.

    Best of luck to everyone.

  3. OK, so i have deleted my personal info because I don't want this post to cause me any trouble; I think I found a shortcut!

Long story short, my I-129f process has been a nightmare. Between forms getting lost in the mail and the CSC backlog it has taken me almost 10 months to receive my NA02 which came early this month. With the current lag between the CSC and the NVC I have given up all hope of bringing me sweetheart here in time to meet my family around X-mas. Total bummer!!!!!!

But now there is a glimer of hope as I think that I have found a shortcut. As we perpared all the documents that this website indicated would be asked for by the consulate in the package 3, I decided to call the consulate about the police and medical requirements. I called and was told by a woman, "Gina", working there, "Yea, sure, have your fiancee stop by and pick up the medical exam form." It sounded too easy...........

So I made the appointment with a doctor from the list that the consulate emailed and my baby purchased a bus ticket for the 11 hour long ride to the capital. I asked her brother to escort her to get the forms, as he lives in the capital. He said, " no problem."

They went to the consulate at 8am and were told, "come back at 2pm, when the guy that hands out those forms comes in." So imagine my feeling when I called them at 8:30 and was told that they had left without the forms.

I could not imagine who would start his work day at the consulate at 2pm and I was worried that the were getting the run around and might be sent away again in the afternoon, and the exam is early tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! I felt ill as I realized the my sweetie might be headed home empty handed.

Well, I called the consulate and was transfered to a gentleman(I asked for his full name and had him confirm the spelling and then read it back to him) who said that they, "can't give out any forms, until the package arrives fron the NVC, after all, these forms are U.S. government property."

I calmly explained about the appointment tomorrow and noted that my fiancee had traveled 11 hours by bus to reach the capital. I also explained that "Gina" there at the consulate had informed me the week before that the forms could simply be picked up at the customer service window.

I was kicking myself fo failing to get "Gina's" last name, and was just about to ask him to call her at extension #320. As I began to admit to him that I understood that 'the rules are the rules" he interupted me and said, "well she has come a long was and I am not supposed to do this, but........." Success! B)

As I fell all over myself thanking him he told me to have them ask for him at the front window and that he would have the form ready.

:star: OK SO HERE COMES THE SHORT CUT............ :star:

He said, :So you just want the form right? You know, usually we don't send the form out alone, it comes with the whole package(Package 3). would you like me to give here the whole package??????"

WOULD I? WOULD I? And skip three trips through their dreaded postal system? And cut a minimum of one month(yes their mail is slow) from the process? YES I WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!! B) He said, "No problem."

So after calling my fiancee an hour later to confim that she had really receive the whole package, I called back to my new best friend at the consulate and asked how we would know that they had received the notice from the NVC so that she could send in the I DS-230. He said that there was no need as he had put her name down in the ledger as having received the package. He said they would call us when the package arrived from the NVC and we could set up an appointment then. !!!!!!!!! I asked, "so getting an appointment, that will take what, a month?" His reply, "oh no, she should have the forms ready, if so we should be able to get her in within a week."

    I am speechless.....

I post this for your benefit. I hope this works out for me and I hope all the rest of you recieve at least one pleasant suprise as you head for your goal.

  4. Consider whether your short-term goal is interfering with your long-term goal, and decide which is more important to you.

I don't like this advice, I think that the only important goal is to be with the one you love. If you can be with your sweetheart while the case is being processed who cares, within reasonable limits, how long it takes?

I am very sorry for your set-back. But I do envy you!

Each day that I am forced to be away from my fiancee I feel that I have been punched in the heart.

My advice; reapply and remain in Argentina, and any time you start to feel sad about the extra wait just hug your fiancee. I really envy you...........

  5. I am almost ready to send all the documents to my fiancee for her K1 interview. But, before I send it I have a question; do I really need to send " A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one)."?

I have seen this mentioned on this site and a few others and, while it is great advice, I wonder if it is really important. I am going to provide all of the documents that are listed on the USCIS website:

    Applying for a Visa

The consular section at the embassy or consulate where you, the fiancé(e) of an American citizen, will apply for a visa, will tell you about any additional specific requirements that you need to fulfill to complete your visa application, such as where you need to go for the required medical examination. The following is required:

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States.

    Birth certificate

Divorce or death certificate of any previous spouse for both the applicant and the petitioner

Police certificate from all places lived since age 16

Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)

Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support may be requested.)

Two Nonimmigrant Visa Applications, Form DS-156 (A Form DS-156, prepared in duplicate.)

One Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application, Form DS-156K

Two nonimmigrant visa photos (each two inches 50 X 50 mm square, showing full face, against a light background)

    Evidence of a fiancé relationship

Payment of fees, as explained below.

The consular officer may ask for additional information according to the circumstances of the case. Documents in foreign languages should be translated.

Take clear, legible photocopies of civil documents, such as birth and marriage certificates, to the interview. Original documents can then be returned to you.

But the fact that I did not make a "copy of the entire I-129f package and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE" has me worried. I have copies of most of the information, and I could fill out new forms to send to my fiancee, but I worry about them not being an exact match. And, in truth, it has been quite a while and I don't think that I could create an exact replica of the original packet that I sent in.

So my question is; why should I send all the info from the entire I-129f packet when the Embassy will allready have the original(as sent from the USCIS via the NVC)? Am I incorrect in thinking that it is overkill to send everything that the USCIS lists plus a copy of the entire I-129f aplication package?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Jason
