Delays can be a myriad of reasons---if she cleared the background check, what her originating country is and if deeper checks are needed as a result of that, if she has the same name as someone else and got held up in the name check portion (because the info has to be manually checked then in comparison to the "other" person who has a record), the backlog and caseload of the office, the speed of her field office, etc.

 

I know it's frustrating to wait, especially when others around you seem to be moving through the process quicker---but she'll get to the finish line soon.  What does her online case status say?

That's what I'm concerned about. When I checked the status it just says a fingerprinting appointment has been scheduled, December 6, 2016. Now,  I'm not sure if it's supposed to say biometrics have been completed.  

After 9 months of completing my mother's biometric appointment and wondering why she hadn't received an interview yet when her friends who did their biometrics after her already got interviewed, I realized that I foolishly omitted the asterisk after the NBC. Does anyone know if this error most likely contributed to the delay in processing and what should I do now?
