Hey I joined my wife and they didn’t ask for pictures to show proof but u can go alone also. They ask the immigrant questions about his or her past.  We really talked about our son because the lady was interested and lucky for us she just came back from California so we talked a lot about that. I spoke more than my wife haha. It went really smooth. Just show up early and wait. My friend of mine went through the same thing and they went to the states for a month and came back to Italy and within another month she got hers in the mail.

Thank you very much for all the info you gave me, I really appreciate!!!

Pretty sure it's the same everywhere, but in Mexico my wife had to have her fingerprints/biometrics taken at an ASC center. The centers tend to be near the embassies and I believe you have to complete them before the interview. We were given the option to schedule the biometrics appointment 1 day before the interview, so that's what we did.

The appointment itself is very quick. My wife arrived 10 minutes before her appointment and there were only 2-3 other people there. She was out 5 minutes later.

    Thank you Jorge!!

You might find some embassy specific answers (bringing spouse, interview questions asked, etc) in the reviews for the embassy in Italy. You can find the reviews here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Italy&cty=&dfilter=5 .

As far as the green card goes, it gets mailed once you complete these two things:

    1. Pay the green card fee of USD$220. The fee is payable online and you'll receive instructions on how to pay it when your passport/visa get returned to you.

    2. You enter the US.

Once both steps have been completed you should receive your green card at your US address within 4 weeks. We received ours 13 days after entering the US.

Thank you very much for the info.

One more question please : did they take your finger prints?

It depends where u receive it. If u ask to send it at home then maybe it will take longer but me and my friend asked to get it at the DHL main place and it took 3 days. And we also did the social security number online.

My recollection was that the social security card comes in sometime around the time the green card is delivered, after US entry.

    Thank you both!!

We sent everything off in mid June and were approved on September 26, so it took about 3.5 months!

Thank you! I just called Rome and they said we got approved and my stuff has already been sent to Naples ( we went there 3 weeks ago). So I'll just wait to hear from the Consulate and I'm going to prepare all my paperwork. I was just wondering if the casellario giudiziale needs to be translated.

Translation is not a requirement. Either Italian or English is fine.

Personally I got everything in English just because the military translated it.

Other people I know went to Naples with papers only in Italian and they got approved just fine.

Hi  Vale, my husband is in the military as well. How long did your application take to be approved? Was your casellario giudiziale in English as well or Italian? Thank you

    Hi Vale,

I had everything translated (marriage certificate, birth certificate, permesso di soggiorno etc.) when we first sent the petition off.

When we then received the IV package it said following in the "Instructions for Immigrant":' All documents not in English or Italian must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and that the translator is competent to translate.'

This means, that if they are in any OTHER language than English or Italian, you should have your documents translated, otherwise, italian would be fine!

    Good luck!

    Hi MariaSy

this coming week we will be travelling to Naples for the interview, after which I can give an update.

    Wish us luck :)

    Best of luck!!!!!!

Hey we sent the packet to Rome in may and our noa2 was received on the 18 of June but the date on the approval notice was the 8 of June. And I got the email from naples on the 22 of June.  I'm from the veneto region so depending on how far u are will take fewer or shorter days to arrive. Check out my timeline to get the idea

I'm from Naples so hopefully it will be fast as well! Thank you very much

    Hi Hicknick,

we recently started DCF in Italy as well. We got married 2 years ago in Colorado and now live in Italy. After living here for a while we decided we'd like to move back to the US, as we feel more at home in Colorado than we do here.

We sent our I-130 petition on June 20, 2017. After not having heard from the USCIS field office in Rome whether or not they received the petition, we called and they said that they received it on June 22 and were going to start the review on June 28. Since then we haven't heard. I am hoping we will get an NOA soon (we are sitting on needles here, since we have read so much about how fast DCF in Italy is and that people usually get their NOA2 within about 3 weeks).

Did you ever get an NOA1?

    Were you notified by email?

Keep me updated on your process. What do you mean by waiting to hear back from Naples about part 2? Have you scheduled your interview yet?

    So many questions... :)

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi Katherina. Did you get approved for your visa? How long did it take? Thank you

Yes I went through the same process and still am going through it. After ur approval from Rome, you should get an email from Naples with ur case number and instructions to proceed. If I were u, I would already be starting with the affidavit and getting the police certificates. I just went to Venezia for my wife's. I don't know where ur from but it's like 50€ for both and then depends on ur translater for the translation price

Hi, can I ask you how long did it take from bringing everything in Rome to Naples emailing you? My husband and I applied last Wednesday. Thank you!

Qick question: I'll be the beneficiary in this process and I'm italian. Did I need to translate all my documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, identity card, common residence...) in english or is it fine to attached them in italian?

    Thanks for your help!

    Vale

    Ciao Vale,

we just applied last week in Rome ( I'm Italian, my husband American ). If you go to your Comune, they should be able to print the marriage certificate and your birth certificate in multi language. I attached my passport copy and I didn't translate that one. My husband is in the military so it's different for us for the residence but maybe the Comune could give you the multi language version of that too. Go and ask, it's way easier. Good luck to all of  us waiting :)
