Did you forget to include the original rejection notice?

If so, it was treated as a late joint filing, for which a valid reason must be given - and approved a s valid reason - in order for it to be accepted for filing. At this point it has NOT been accepted and is limbo, pending a 'good cause' for late filing.

Write a letter outlining it - clearly and simply - with dates, and any correspondence you have. Should be fine.

Thank you. Maybe I did forget, I don't remember... Just to make sure: her green card was expiring on 11/13/2017. That means that the deadline was 11/13/17, correct?

Do you still have the rejection notice from when you sent the first application?  I would include a copy of that with a brief written explanation that it was returned due to the illegible check, showing the original date of submission being before the deadline, and mention the date you received the 2nd notice ....and a copy of the new receipt notice to compare with the date you received this letter.

Be honest...explain to them what you wrote here.  If, by some miracle, you have the original check, original correspondence, make copies and include this with your explanation.  You have a legitimate answer to their inquiry.

  3. Hello!

My wife filed the Form I-751 to renew her green card that she got in 2015 after we got married (I have American citizenship). She filed before the deadline but the application got rejected because they could not read the amount written on the check for the fees. She received that notice after the deadline and resubmitted the application with a new check. It got accepted but we recently received the letter attached. It says that we filed the petition 14 days after the deadline and they need an explanation for that.  What exactly should we explain? And how should I present the letter?

  4. Hello,  my wife went to her biometric appointment to renew her green card. It's been 2 months since the meeting and no news. I just checked her status online and got the following message:

"On April 9, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number (.....) at your local office"

What does it mean? Is her green card renewed? If so, when will she get a new green card? Let me know thank you :)

  5. Hello, I'm american and my wife has just received a letter that says her conditional resident status is extended for one year (from the expiration date of her green card). My questions:

    - Do you know when she will have an appointment for her fingerprints, photo and signature?

    - How can my wife renew her driver's licence?

    Let me know. Thank you.

  6. Thank you! When I send back the application with the new check, should I also include the old check and mark on it "Void"? They stamped on its back "For deposit only USCIS Vermont service center" (picture attached). Also should I reprint the I-751 form or send the original one? On the original one tehy stamped "received oct 26 2017 VSC" and also marked in red "CRG 11-13-2015". What do you think??

No, I had the same thing happen. I accidentally wrote my check for $5 too much.

Thank you. Should I add a letter saying something like "If there's another problem , please call me at...."? Or not?

I work in a bank. Based on my experience with check deposits and cashing, the legal written amount and the number amount appear to be different. In order for the bank to accept the check, they need to be the same amounts. Looks like "nine hundred eighty" instead of "six hundred eighty". That's probably the reason they sent it back.  Just write your next check out a little more clearer and you should be ok.

Thank you. Don't you think there's another problem when they say "incorrect or incomplete guarantee amount"?

  9. Hello,

I sent the I-751 application with the fees to renew my wife's green card since it is 2 years old already and will expire soon.

USCIS returned my whole package and the reason is "incorrect or incomplete guarantee amount".  i sent a check of 680$ which is the correct amount and I signed it. I'm attaching a picture of the check. Please tell me what you think. Do you think  they couldn't read the check? Do you think they meant that there's another problem?

One check or two doesn’t matter as long as the totAl is exactly $680.

    Yes, Hispanic/latino.

Yet another of your hijack posts was moved to this thread. Please don’t use the pinned threads to post questions pertaining to your case.

Thank you very much :)) Thank you for your responses, I really appreciate....

I sent the complete file and I saw on the tracking number that it arrived. What should I do now? Is there a number to call to make sure they are treating the case? I'm afraid it would get lost...The deadline to send the file was for mid November... Just let me know. Thank you!

The filing fee is $595 + $85. The bio fee is for the fingerprinting and running background checks.

Yes, write N/A wherever applicable in your case.

Well, you're going to get different responses for this. Some of us believe in not hiding numbers to show joint assets but others have hidden numbers for privacy reasons. Your call on how you want to deal with this.

I see thank you! So basically, one check of $680 no matter what, correct?

Oh ok, thank you! :) So basically I only scan the front and back of my wife's green card and this is the form I-551, correct?

Hello, I have couple simple questions. My wife needs to renew her green card:

    - How much is the filing fee for form I-751: 595$ ? Or do I also need to include the $85 for biometric services?? What is that 85$ fee exactly??

    -  Do I need to put N/A in the I-751 application each time the question does not apply to my wife's case, or just leaving it blank is sufficient?

    - I'm going to provide bank statements. Is it ok if I hide the account number? Or they could then consider it as "conceal material fact" or "falsifying document"?

Let me know.... Thank you very much :))

  13. Hello, I'm American and my wife has a green card that will expire very soon. I have to fill out the I-751 Application and provide evidence that our marriage is still going on. Would the following documents be enough to prove it:

    - birth certificates of our 2 babies

    - jointly held bank account

    - joint policies for insurance

    - tax returns

Let me know. thank you :)
