I have tax question for filing citizenship. I was married, but was divorced before filing 751. I got conditions removed. Now I am thinking of doing citizenship. My husband and I were married for two years before divorce. The first year of our marriage we lived in the same state together and filed taxes jointly. In the second year of our marriage I moved to another state for job but we filed taxes jointly. The address on the tax form was mine although my husband lived in another state. There is no option to file jointly with two addresses. Anyways now we are divorced and I am filing under 5 year rule.
My question is will this pose problem for me in the future that we filed taxes jointly showing only one address even though living in separate states. Will this post issues for citizenship? It did not pose issues for removal of conditions.
Thanks

Thank you. The error also has nothing to do with the duration of marriage but has to do with the date we moved into the new place together, almost 2 years before marriage.

I recently had my I 751 approved and had been scrolling through N400 site. I noticed several getting denied for errors on their application. I noticed today in my I 751 application my lawyer made an error in the application regarding the dates I lived at X address. Instead of saying 8/1/2014 he has written 1/8/2014. Will this lead to future problems with N400? If so how do I correct this problem now?
Thanks

I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2 officer who had a very thick Hispanic accent which was occasionally hard to follow and he was also fast, combative and rude to high heaven. He asked me to be patient and wait.
I retorted requesting that in the future he should be more sympathetic and not combative to the customers and cut the phone.
One would think as a Hispanic who clearly sounded like an immigrant rather than born brought up here dude he would be more sympathetic to the plight of other immigrants.

Thanks. I do not think it is an IRS problem. Many Americans file jointly even though living in separate addresses.
