Take a copy of the pamphlet. It specifically states you can travel into the US with an expired GC and a valid extension letter.
Thank you. Do you think I should also be looking to get a Mexico visa? Permanent residents do not require to get a visa to Mexico, but I'm not sure if this is still the case if I'm entering Mexico with just an extension letter.

Hello everyone,
My greencard has expired last year Dec 16 2016 (conditional permanent resident) and as of right now, I have an extension letter. I'm planning to go to Mexico this coming November and be back a couple of days before Dec 16. I'm a Philippine passport holder. Being a permanent resident doesn't require a Mexico visa, but with my current status (greencard expired) I really don't know if I should be getting a Mexico visa. Please please advise.
Thank you so much.

Hi everyone,
My green card has expired December 2016. I have an extension letter for 1 year which will expire soon December 2017. I will be travelling out of the country on December (my extension letter will be expired by then). How soon can I get an i-551 stamp? Can I get the stamp as early as August?
