Hello all, we are finally done with the process!! We were out exploring and stopped by the cargo office and his visa was already there so we got it today and fly back tomorrow to the states! It was such a stressful experience and I’m soo relieved we can finally live our lives :) We will definitely keep everyone that is going through the process in our thoughts and prayers! We loved Guatemala but are soo ready to go back home! Good luck to all

Congrats!!!! SO happy for you and your family! It is such a relief! Safe travels!

Thank you so much for your answer! The 2nd time we repaid like 4 months ago do you know how long it takes to receive that cc letter?

Ours took 11 weeks for the first one, then we had to resubmit his birth certificate in the new format. After that we waited an additional 5 weeks, so 16 weeks total. They were very backed up when we filed.

Hi, December 6th husband had his biometrics done and February 28th we received a courtesy letter saying he's i601a is approved but when I check online they haven't updated, it's still says we're in biometrics step and we have not received original letter yet. 😊 our lawyer had us do the ds260 twice already the first one expired and we repaid apprx. 4 months ago. Anyone on here knows what is the next step please we are very nervous and excited thanks in advance

Hi there!  Once the DS 260 is reviewed and all documents are reviewed and approvdd then they will send you a case complete letter. After that will be your appointment letter and your appointment!! You’re in the final

stretch! Prayers for a fast process!

Hello to everyone, One question, my lawyer sent the last papers to the visa center about 2 weeks ago, now we are waiting for the appointment to Guatemala when they will send the appointment, how long is the wait to received the appointment letter?? I need help!! What documents or the list of documents that he will need to show them in there in the embassy?

    Thanks in advance

    God bless you all 😄

Hi! Just wanting to clarify, have you gotten a case complete notification from NVC? Our case took 11 weeks there, and then they rejected it due to the new birth certificate format. Once we resent the new birth certificate it took an additional 5 weeks for review. We submitted all paperwork to NVC in February 2017, got a case complete in July 2017, appointment assigned the first week in August 2017 for September 11, 2017. We did ours through mail processing as that is how we originally started our case.

We waited about a week or so to get an appointment after we got the notification email. However there have been some on here who have been waiting quite awhile. Hopefully you will get yours soon. I don’t know what the reason has been for the delay between the case complete and the appointment assignment.

Hello all I know nobody uses this very much anymore but my husband has his interview this coming Tuesday March 20th. He got his police stuff he needed, which was a real stressful task. The consulate in Chicago gave him a receipt when he went to get his dpi but it didn’t have the dpi number on it so we were scared for a minute and had to go across town to main renap office and they said his dpi is already in the us. Today he had his doctor appointment and went to pick up the results now. Now we just wait until Tuesday and pray all goes well. Guatemala is so very different then America but it is a great experience for myself as well as our children! Thank you everyone for all the support up until this point!!

Super exciting!!! Will be praying for a smooth interview! Looking forward to hearing the good news! My husband’s visa was ready in less than   48 hours so that is always a positive 😊

Hello all, I have a question. It says we need  my husbands birth certificate translated to english, we haven’t met with our attorney yet but will he be able to do that for us?

    Thank you

    Hello!

our lawyer’s assistant translated ours, but I believe the birth certificate has to either be translated to English or be in the native language of the country the interview is being conducted in (in this case, Spanish). We had ours translated just in case. Your lawyer should know someone who can do it if he is unable.

I know! My lawyer should know all of these things.  It's been frustrating trying to figure out things without her help. I called the consulate this past monday and was told to bring proof I need the DPI fairly quickly and they should issue a DPI number number in the mean time and I could use that to get what I need in Guatemala.  Thank you! oh one more question did your hubby get his shots here in the states? I've heard not to bother because they won't take vaccination records.

Our lawyer didn’t know about it either and she called the NVC. It came up with another one of her Guatemala clients that were processing the same time we were as well. Regarding shots, Don’t worry about getting them here. You will get everything you need down there. My husband took his record of one of the shots and he said they just ignored it. Yes, they should give you a receipt and it should have the DPI number on it.

Thank you so much for your quick reply I appreciate it! Oh man! I definitely don't want to add more time to this never ending nightmare and hope I can resolve it sooner. I have the Renap BC but without the pictures because I don't have my DPI yet so I hope that doesn't cause an issue. I was planning on getting it sometime this month my nearest consulate is 8+ hours away and it wasn't until recently that I learned I would need it to get police record and what not. Husband will call tomorrow to find out more.

Hopefully you can get your DPI fairly quickly. Totally understand about the consulate being so far away. We drove from St Louis to Houston and back in one weekend just to get that crazy thing because at the time it was our closest option (the other one was in California) that did that service. But it is necessary to have. Hopefully your hubby will be able to get some answers when he calls! Let me know if I can help with anything else 😊

Hi! I hope someone can help me!  Last week I submitted my DS 260 and sent all the financial and civil documents, however someone told me they had their case delayed because they sent the old birth certificate not the new one from RENAP and that's exactly my case. I sent a copy of the old one along with a translated copy. I do have the BC from renap and I called my lawyer and she laughed at me saying it doesn't matter as long is a valid BC it shouldn't matter which one.  I don't know what to do, I thought about calling NVC and ask but what if they don't know what I'm talking about since they probably haven't receive the docs. I'd really appreciate any advice.

    Hello!

We sent our docs and unfortunately encountered a significant delay because of the old birth certificate format. As many on here will also tell you, it DOES matter which birth certificate you submit. If the birth certificate has the pictures from the DPI then that should be the correct one. We sent the older format and it added an extra 6 weeks onto our case because we  had to resubmit which pushed us back to the beginning of the review process. I just want to be completely honest and tell you that you may want to have someone from Guatemala send a correct birth certificate to you so you can send it in rather than receive a letter stating that you need it. My brother in law was able to get my husband’s using only his DPI number. Hopefully this helps!

    Best wishes to you!

    Hi there,

I'm new to this site. My petition got approved and currently on the last step. I need to submit tax docs according to what my lawyer said.

how long it takes for the NVC to ship the case files to the embassy?

    Congrats on the approval!

First, the NVC has to review all of your required documents and then will let you know when everything has been approved, which is referred to on here as a “case complete”. They will then notify you that you are waiting for your appointment to be scheduled. Once your file is complete they will send it to the embassy. Scheduling seems to be behind for Guatemala in some recent posts. In our case, it took the NVC almost 5 months to review our documents, but once we had a case complete we got an appointment assigned a week later for a little over a month away. Our case was complete at the end of July and a week later we received our appointment for 9/11/17. But others on this thread have been waiting since August and September so it seems they are behind. I wish I had a concrete answer for you, but all I have to go off is what we expereinced. I can tell you that once he got down there, everything was extremely efficient and organized. He was only gone less than 3 weeks.

    Best of luck to you!

I would like to thank everyone for your kinds words to relieve my anxiety. This has been a stressful journey but i would like to inform everyone that my husband and I recieved an Email this morning at 2am with our date to Guatemala. Our case was complete September 26 and our appointment to Ebassy is January 23 at 8 am. If anyone was wondering we currently live in Washington DC.

Congratulations!!  This is awesome! So happy for you!

Thanks for your answer, but Im a lil confuse, you said copy of the original, to send the package??? and then in the appt have to be the originals????

Fro where my husband is in Guatemala that Renap in that department they dont do originals thats what my brother- in -law said, he said renap told him to go to the central which is in the Capital of Guatemala where they will give the originals one... Not copy but original... So now we are waiting to see when he can go to there and get it since is so far from where they live!! Im so frustrated!!!! But im trying to relax myself and ask God to sthrengh me with this process...

    Thank you so much

    God Bless you :)

My husband is also not from the city. He is from San Felipe, Retalhuleu, about 3 hours away. His brother went to the local Renap office and they issued him a certified copy. It was in black

and white and had a blue stamp on it. We sent this to the NVC and they accepted it. When he went to the capital for his interview, he got another certified copy, just in case and had no issues. He got it the same day without any problems. I hope this explains it better. Praying this process will quickly be completed!

I have a question, the new birth certificate have to be original or how is that? They will give it the same day or need to wait another day? How is it? And is only in the capital where you have to get it, or it can be any Renap in Guatemala??

    Thanks a lot, God Bless😊

Hello, thanks so much for you answer,  I dont know what is the DS 260... :/ and yes he have his brother but he told us that he dont know if there been any change on Renap about that, so we told him to go tomorrow and do the favor for us. Lets see what else we need because i dont know too much but thank you so much😃

    God bless you too...

From what I understand it has to be a copy of the  original that is sent to NVC.  You will need the original at his interview.  We had my brother-in-law get two original copies and send them to us. You can get them at any RENAP office.

We recieved a letter from NVC september 26 that they have recieved all documents and to wait for appointment time. Its now December and no luck yet. How long did it take for you guys to recieve Appointmsnt date after the letter that all documents recieved. I am soo nervous for my husband.

Hello! My husband got a case closed at the end of July And received his appointment a week later for September 11th. However, from what I have seen on here lately, it seems they are behind in scheduling or backed up. Praying you get an appointment soon!

Hello to everyone, my husband have approved for his waiver but we still waiting, whats is the process time to get the interview appt to go to Guatemala? And I was just reading that theres is a new format for his birth certificate??? But if he is here in the US how he will get it?? Im worry about all this situation, and I apologize my english since I dont know too much.. thanks in advance to all..

    God bless you all😃

    Hi there!

Have you already sent your documents to the NVC? It can take up to 11 weeks if you mailed them in. We mailed ours and the birth certificate got rejected, so we had to have his brother get a new one for us and send it here. Does your husband have his DPI? My husband just gave his brother his DPI number and he was able to get it for us. Also, I think you can get it when you go down there, but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with the process for those who filed electronically. After we resubmitted the birth certificate, we waited another 6 weeks and then I called and got a case complete over the phone. We received email confirmation one week later and the appointment a week after that. Received appointment at the end of July and it was scheduled for September 11. Hopefully this helps. From what I hear on here, they seem to have gotten backed up in their appointment scheduling, unfortunately.

I agree hopefully by the end of next week...

But from your experience do you honestly think we will get an appointment for December? My CC is Sept.25th.

I wish I had more answers, or more to contribute, but we were on the exact same timeline as Jrenoj (our husbands actually had appointments on the same day, and at the same time!). So pretty much what she said is all I know. I feel horrible, wishing there was some more info that we have, or some rhyme or reason as to why they do the things they do. Praying you hear something soon! We're all rooting for you! :)

Thanks, I saw the timeline for Guatemala and it was so quick from the time of CC to interview date, but now I guess they slowed the process a bit

You're welcome! From what I've seen on here, the general consensus among many embassies throughout various countries, is that they will schedule for the upcoming month during the last few days of the previous month, if that makes sense. For example, we got our CC towards the end of July, and our appointment was the second week in September. So it would make sense that they were scheduling for December in the last few weeks of October. Again, totally NOT something that is set in stone, or even correct, just a pattern I have noticed on here with many people.

  18. 40 minutes ago, JolYnn said:

Does anyone know until when they schedule interviews for next month? I would call and ask but its pointless they answer no questions at all.

Usually you will get about a month’s notice. But as for what time of the month they schedule, it seems to be within the first few weeks of the month. Just from what I have read on here.

  19. 15 hours ago, Y&V6416 said:

I did I called this morning and all she said was that they have started scheduling for December and she has nothing for me, to call back me week 😢

Wow I am so sorry! I know how nerve wracking that can be. We got our appointment quickly, however we had to wait over 5 months to get a CC (probably the same story as many, many others), when we were led to believe that that was a shorter wait. I know it is so hard and so frustrating, but don’t lose hope!! It will happen soon! Maybe you all will be a December appointment!

  20. 3 minutes ago, Y&V6416 said:

Case was closed on Sept. 25th and I received the CC Email on Oct. 2nd... I was hoping that within a week I would receive the interview date just like I have seen with everyone else.... But it's already the 12th and no email... Getting a bit anxious.. I know everyone here understands... Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get interview date after CC??

Took us only two days after the CC email. Got verbal CC on 7/24, CC email on 7/31 and appointment date on 8/2. What does your NVC status say online when you check it?

Still waiting for my interview date..

But I have a couple questions.. first one is can anyone recommend a good hotel that is near the office for the medical exam and also near the embassy that is at a good price?? I will be going with my husband to the interview and we will be staying in Guate city for 3 nights and want to budget as much as possible as we still have to go visit family in the south for 2 weeks or so so we need to budget ..

Anyway the best one I could find was for $93 a night breakfast included...

Can anyone recommend something a bit better??

    Hope it arrives soon!!

Wish I could answer this one, however my husband stayed with family in the city and was there for almost three weeks. Hopefully someone else will have a better answer than mine :)

    Hi!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday I was on a high all day. HE GOT APPROVED!!!! I am beside myself with happiness and gratitude, despite the many helpful posts and success stories I have a deeply ingrained mentality that "it could happen for anyone else but not for me", and glad I was wrong. I will post details on the other thread later. Thanks for your support and positive vibes!!!

LOVE THIS!!! So happy for you!
