  1. I finally got my approval notice in the mail! So happy! Now ready to move on to the next step! Good luck to those who have not received an approval yet. I have waited quite long for it but it will come. Can't tell you to be patient because I was very impatient so try every method you can think of to get an answer. Here's what I've tried:

    1. Call USCIS, talk to tier 2

    2. Submit online inquiries

    3. Go to infoPass appointments

    4. Contact Ombudsman

    5. Have your lawyer call the director of your local USCIS office.

    Hi!

Did you have to go for a second interview or did your case get approved 9months after your interview?

We had our interview in Sept 2017 and still waiting for either 2nd interview or an approval, whichever comes first at this point is considered progress by my standards.

By the way, I also had my interview in September 2017..... Our case sounds so similar.. Yours could be coming anytime soon.

    Hello!

For this I-130 I only went to one interview. Got approved after 9 months. No need for second I-130 interview but when I apply for I-485, we have to go to another interview.

I think you should try contacting Ombudsman!

Yes they just say wait some time

    Hi Dyadi!

Did you try checking the new webpage. https://my.uscis.gov/account/

I just checked there and mine says approved just recently and now waiting for receipt notice in the mail..... I also contacted Ombudsman before this news! You should try checking it on the new website and contact ombudsman!

I wont believe it yet until I get my receipt notice in the mail though! Haha

  5. Hi Everyone,

My I-130 case has been pending since November 2016. I am a United Citizen filing for my spouse. My lawyer helped me submit a request to Ombudsman to help with my I-130 case 50 days ago almost 60 days ago. I still have not receive anything from Ombudsman. I thought they are at least supposed to give a response whether they are able to help or not by the end of the 45th day. Is Ombudsman also backlogged now?

    Thanks

Thanks for your response. I am missing one of the inquiry letters and my attorney had the infopass letter. I wonder if he kept it or threw that away. I am guessing the i-130 is petitioning for a relative so they interviewed you correct? I thought they interviewed the relative instead. I wish you the best of luck. I do not know why they are making things difficult these says.

Please keep me posted on how the ombudsman request goes.

    Thanks

Yes petitioning for my husband. They interviewed the both of us together. Will keep you posted!

  7. I am in the same situation as you but not for the N400 application. Basically I had my interview last year September for I-130. IO told us that he can't make a decision right now and told us to wait 84 days to get a response. We waited for 4 and a half months already. We did not get anything. I submitted more than 3 online inquiries and went to two info pass appointments. Nothing helps! Keep getting stupid generic messages. Finally my lawyer submitted an ombudsman request last week. We will see if it is helping!

I think for you, you should definitely try out ombudsman if your case has been out of processing time for more than 60 days. When Ombudsman contacts USCIS, USCIS has 45 days to respond. I heard some good news from people, but for some I hear that they just give the same response as well.. I don't know. It's very frustrating! Good Luck!

To contact Ombudsman, make sure you have all the copies of the response you got from your online inquiries and your infoPass appointment slips as well. They need to know you have gone through a lot of ways to try to get an update on your case.

As for the N400 application, I did that three years go.. It was fairly quick. I got a pass right after my interview so it was fairly easy and smooth for me. Sorry to hear that it is going slow for you, but you know I think USCIS is backlogged with N400 applications since the election. Everyone now wants to become a citizen in fear of the government attacking immigrants even green card holders.

I know that it is hard, keep your head up, your spouse is with you during this time right? maybe not my place to say this it all depends on what you believe in but god never gives you more than he knows you can handle

I mean even if we have a higher bar to pass at least request more evidence from us or call us in for another interview or something but no!! They have to keep us pending a few months after the promised date to give us a response. I believe in God and I know He won’t give us more than we can handle, but sometimes I’m just very bitter that it is taking us so long.

now I am confused, I am guessing you have done both, I-130 and the adjusting of status, you came here on a K1 or you were already here on a visa, got married and now your adjusting status?

No.. I filed a standalone I-130. My husband was already in the United States when we filed. Got married in the United States and then filed.

I just wondered as it states adjustment of status pending and that is what you filed for so just wanted to make sure I understood

LPR is a legal permanent resident.

and what does tier 2 say when you call them? next time you call ask them if there are any notes on your case from the adjudicating officer.

they can look deeper into it, I am so sorry your case is taking so long :(

Tier 2 just told me to wait. InfoPass told me that they would contact the officer. the other infoPass told me maybe something triggered during the interview causing the officer not being able to adjust. My lawyer told me it's just an excuse to justify their delay because they don't see much notes? The infoPass lady just showed me the last online inquiry I got, which is just your case is still under review. I don't know. It has been more than 4 and a half months after my interview..I am supposed to get a response within 84 days. (To clarify I am still in the I-130 process). Usually people hear interview and they are confused and thought I am already in the I-485 process.

I am really surprised, that you being a USC and still haven't gotten your approval, did you talk to a tier 2 rep? did they say why it is taking soo long? did you start the process first as a LPR? and then got citizenship?

Yes, I've done so much! I've talked to tier 2 at least twice. I went to infoPass twice. Nothing works!!! What is LPR? No, started the progress and am already a citizen. My lawyer is now filing to ombudsman.

  12. I have been waiting for my NOA2 for I-130 ever since Nov 7th, 2016. My interview letter was sent to my old address last year for September 22nd, 2017. Good thing my lawyer got a mail otherwise we could have missed it. The weird thing is I've already changed my address and had been getting online inquiries to my new address, but this mail was still sent to the old address. I am wondering now that I am waiting for my I-130 response after the interview, could it be possible that they sent it to my old address again for another interview? USCIS likes to make stupid mistakes like this. I am really worried now.... My lawyer has also recently changed her address. This is really really worrisome.. I do not want to miss an interview. Also, I went to infoPass also to ask about my case, they say it is still under review, but they always say this... they don't tell you whether an interview has been scheduled or what not.
