Omg! Guys! Look what the American Embassy in Guyana sent to me today. This is F_ _ _ _ _ _ crazy. Now I'll be forced to go to F_ _ing Colombia:
Dear Ms. Kelly,
There has been a change in the policy regarding third-country nationals being interviewed in Guyana. Only applicants who are proficient in English and can carry on a conversation in English will be offered consideration of being interviewed in Guyana.
We regret that the use of an interpreter for these relationship type cases will not be acceptable. You may wish to consider being interviewed in Bogota or another Spanish speaking country.
Sincerely,
Visa Inquiries Unit

There are flights to Guyana. A lot of my Fiancé's friends travel there regularly to see friends. I have not booked the flight there yet. My fiancé will book the flight from Cuba
ok thanks for the response

Yes, EmilySF, I called the American Embassy in Guyana directly and they confirmed that my Fiancé will be able to interview there. He just needs to bring his own interpreter. Any American Embassy can conduct the interview. It's just a matter of getting into the country where the Embassy is located. We are choosing Guyana, because it avoids the issue of having to get approved for a visa in advance. Guyana grants Cubans the visa upon arrival. Kind of how it is for Americans traveling to Europe.
Hello Malonya, quick question is there flight from Cuba to Guyana???
do you already book the interview there???
thanks

Not really -- nothing that I know of. Although today my fiancé emailed me and said that he saw on the news in Cuba that he would need to get a visa for Colombia and then go to the interview, then go back to Cuba and wait for "the results". Anyone else confirm this? I mean obviously if it goes into AP he may have to do that, although I don't know how it would work as generally in AP they keep your passport right? Well maybe he just misunderstood the news and they said "possibly" you might need to go to Colombia and then go back to Cuba? Surely they wouldn't be so insane to make everyone make 2 trips to Colombia, one for the interview and one to pick up the passport, right???
Also, check the last post here (kind of what we already knew, but confirmation):
ok I found this yestoday , is for making appointments in Colombia Embassy but i dont think we can use it , plus it give you the list for the medical Exam and A checlist for interview ,

i have not been able to find an online application - can you send if you have it? i guess we have to wait until the interview is scheduled since the visa is only good for 30 days but still would be good to have.
Yes you have to wait until the interview
And here is the website

Sounds like they are starting to schedule interviews in Colombia over the next few weeks.... https://cu.usembassy.gov/frequently-asked-questions/
Kind of crazy, considering Cubans need to get a visa to also visit Colombia. And at the end of the FAQ, they suggest that applicants stay in Bogota for a few weeks. How people are supposed to do that with jobs, kids, etc. i'm not sure. But hopefully more information will be released in the coming weeks.
Yea Thats what I heard , And yes is going to be hardi think the visa part to colombia is easy , just do a online application and pay the fee

Hi -- I saw the Colombia news on the embassy website, but where did you read about DR? I think we will have to wait for Monday AM to flood all the agencies with calls...sigh.
What are your guys' thoughts on time frame for all this? Any insight?
Also, can't find it now, but someone asked maybe in this thread why we can't go through US Interests section -- I believe reason is because it is now (didn't used to be) housed within the US Embassy. When I went in person two weeks ago, I asked if I could go there at least and the guard said I couldn't as it was in same building.Yes tomorrow I will call NVC and see what we can do
And I think the delay will be getting the interview in another embassy, and I think the interest section close when they reopen the Embassy.
And look here is the article on dominican republic

its up to the embassy how they process it. i have called and asked many, many times. it is an immigrant visa. says so on the website which I screenshot above.

what is the NOA2? the approval from the US? i was told the expiration on here doesn't really matter. i called and asked to get it extended and they said it's all good once it's in the us embassy of cuba's hands but they wrote an e-mail anyway on my behalf stating that it should be extended.
Yes is the aproval From USCIS , they give it for 4 months

Same as I got.
But when my october appointment was canclled and rescheduled for december i got a different email that specifically mentioned my appointment date and time.
Interesting that in this email they say only nonimmigrant while on the website they say both. Did they send this email to only nonimmigrant applicants? In this case we know our visa is nonimmigrant according to us embassy. Perhaps in the email they sent to the immigrant applicants they sent other instructions...?
or perhaps they sent this email to everyone and the k1 visa is considered an immigrant visa? Perhaps this is why our appointments still show as "scheduled" until they decide what to do? Or maybe its just wishful thinking.
When i go to the visa status checker online and enter the HAV number, it still says "ready"...and also case last updated september 27. Hmm. Anyone else?
Im on the same problem , I had my cancel For Irma and Rescheduled for OCT 23 and is now cancel, My fiancee Call and they say all the appointments are cancel , I dont think there is nothing we could do at this point , And my NOA 2 is expiring soon If you guys find anything that we can do please let me know , Thanks

How is everyone post-Irma? The area around US embassy in Havana was flooded badly and they cancelled all their Appointments from Sept 7-22. I feel really bad for those people, they have been rescheduled to November. Is anyone of their loved ones affected? I am hoping my interview isn't but waiting to hear soon...
Goodmorning Good , how are you

@Dayr123I forgot to answer your first question,
You do not receive any other info. You can read through the instructions of entry to the embassy that is on the back of the interview confirmation.
I have a question for you,
So far what do you have ready?
Has your fiance got his medical records? certificado de solteria, police records? Does he have the info to schedule his official medical exam?
If it's not too much to ask, in what month is your interview? (just to calculate how long you have to get stuff ready)
Hi Thanks For the Reply , and the help yourgiving me
The only thing we dont have have is the medical , we were waiting on the interview to get it
and the interview is september 12
i should have plenty of time I think
thanks
