  1. Hi all, I used personal check for EAD. I can see that the ckeck was cashed yesterday. I was wondering what would be the first three letters of the case number. I checked 16. (a) (9).

    Thanks

    You should've put c9.

I put a9 based on K-3 nonimmigrant visa. I'll be doing I-485 sometime soon. Thanks

Since you put category a9, your EAD will expire at the same time as your I-94.

That's ok. I'll be doing I-485 sometime soon. Thanks

  2. Thank you all!

My employer asked my wife's SS# to add her in my exiting Health Insurance and other benifit. After I explaining them that SS# won't be available anytime sooner, they added her as of 12/21/2006 as a Qualifying Event being in the Service Area. I'm 100% sure that they do not need dependent's SS# to add dependent.

The reason I wanted her to have SS# quicker is for her driving license and add her in my bank account. I live in State of Massachusetts where SS# is required in order to apply for either Mass ID or driving license. I’ll be doing AOS after New Year.

  3. Hi Folks,

My honey is here in the States now. I was wondering which one should I file EAD or AOS or Both. All I care for now is getting SS#. I'd highly appriciate your help.

    Thanks

Since EAD is optional why would you do both (and incur the expense) if she is not urgent to work.

Why are you "hot" for an SSN?

My employer keep asking for ss#. That's why.

You would need to apply for an EAD to be able to get a SSN as you are a K3 visa holder... you can file for EAD only and do either AOS or CR1 at a later date or you can file for AOS and EAD together...

A SSN is very useful for getting added to bank accounts and insurance.... getting a drivers license and to establish your credit in the US... its just for working...

    Thanks for the hints.

  4. Ma and Timi,

Sorry to bug you, but I did go to the website and it's asking for tracking numbers and other information. I didn't find a page where I could track like what you said ("NVC has sent 5 cases to Nepal including my wife's case since September 2006"). I'd appreciate your help on this.

    Thanks.

GO to DHL Worldwide Express website http://www.dhl.com

    Select USA

    A new page will open

At the top highlight tracking and click on TRACK BY REFERENCE

In the Reference field type CORRESPONDENCE

For the Shipment date you should select a day before and after the date NVC said they sent your file.

    Customer number leave blank

Origin Postal code should be 03801

    Then Click Track

Once you find the package being shipped, you'll see the DHL tracking number.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Sounds like you were worried for nothing :)

The best way to start preparing for AOS/EAD is to check out the guide:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide2

And FYI, K3 can't get SSN until after EAD or AOS, whichever happens first.

As I said in my previous thread "Can k-3 visa be denied?", Consular Officer denied visitor visa. I wasn't allow in the interview that made me so sad. I thought our fellow citizens will be helpful. They could still deny visa, I wouldn't worry as long as I could try to convience. That's the reason I was worried. I guess I was wrong as per Yodark "The reasons for denying a K3 visa are also grounds for denying an immigrant visa." I spent $200.00 for nothing.

By the way, thank you for the link.

  6. Ma and Timi,

    Why?

EDIT: OK, I see you've answered that question, but it doesn't make sense to me. The reasons for denying a K3 visa are also grounds for denying an immigrant visa.

    Yodrak

    Hi Folks,

My both petitions I-130 and I129F ware approved at the same day and the K-3 visa is approved.

I filed I-824 to forward my approved petition to NVC. ....

I thought that immigrant visa is more stronger than k-3 nonimmigrant visa. I guess I was wrong. I just spent $200.00 for nothing.

  7. Ma and Timi,

I read your profile and it says you already booked a flight...

I hope I didn't give you the impression that everyone gets an interview the day after they turn in packet 3. In fact, after 2 years of reading here at VJ, my husband and son are the ONLY ones I know of who had an interview that quick. I hope it is quick for your wife, too, but I hope you didn't buy plane tickets for her yet. We waited until after we had the visas in hand to buy the plane tickets... I think it is much more normal for the interview to be scheduled weeks or even months after packet 3 is turned in to the Consulate. It's hard to determine if there's a pattern with KTM because there are so few people here at VJ going through that post.

And the picture on your profile is beautiful. Is it Machapuchare as seen from Pokhara? I hope we get to visit Pokhara next time we are there...

    Maya

There is no a lot case go to Nepal for some reasons. NVC has sent 5 cases to Nepal including my wife's case since September 2006. I was tracking through dhl.com by the way.

  8. Oh tapai lai nepali bolna aaunchha?

Thank you! Yeah! that's Machapuchare. Although I missed the summer here this year, I really had good time with my wife in Pokhara where she is from.

As you can see, I've done my part and now the ball is in her court.

When I call next time which is most probably tomorrow, I'll make sure that she will prepare as you've mentioned.

  9. My wife has a copy of my passport with visa stamps all over. Our marriage was an "Arranged Marriage". Of course we don't have any pictures before engagement. We exchanged email address after married. I call her every single day since I came back to State on Sep 15, 2006. I went to Nepal in Oct 2005 for 3 week, May 2006 for 3 weeks and July 2006 for 2 months (I was granted for 3 months leave from my work, but I came back to State because I couldn't do DCF). And took a lot of pictures in July and had a really great time in my life.

    Thank you all!

  10. Namaste Ma and Timi,

Don't worry about the visitor's visa being denied. Just focus on helping her get her paperwork done accurately and neatly, etc... You may be surprised at how quickly they schedule her for an interview. My husbands was told, when he turned in packet 3 in person in KTM, to come back the next day for his interview! I'm not saying that will happen in your wife's case, but she should be ready in case it does.

In preparing for the interview, you want her to know what to expect, but you don't want to scare her. You may want to check VJ for other interview stories/possible questions. My husband's and stepson's interview was fairly straightforward and similar to what others have experienced at other consulates (other than the timing the day after packet 3 was returned).

    Best wishes!

    :star:

    Maya

PS You mentioned that she has a few photos from your wedding. Do you guys have any other evidence of your relationship?

Thanks for the information. I really appreciated. I felt much better. I'm not quite sure about other evidence of relationship mean?
