Adil, I am almost sure your wife has a 2 year card. You need to follow this link and file an I-751 for your wife a 10 year green card. If you have to file through Vermont be prepared for a 11 -13 month wait. If you are lucky and file at the California center it is around 4 -6 months for an approval; just remember to be patient.

We are almost to the point we can file for citizenship and will probably have this process started before our I-751 is approved and card in hand (Vermont here).

I had to sign out for the kids homework and your ID did not show your time line when I tried to access it. Disregard the 10 year renewal information since the time had elapsed I could not modify the original post.

It is going to be two years, since my wife came on the CR-1 visa. It has been such a long time. I remember those old days when I used to come here and be stressed out and try to find ways to shorten the depression of the time without my wife. :)

I was not aware of the I-751 form. My wife's green card expires March 27 of this year. She wants to visit her parents in Pakistan until the end of April.

This applies to us: If you are a Conditional Resident and your status is expiring, these instructions do not pertain to you. You are to use Form I-751 (Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence) to apply to remove the conditions on your permanent resident status.

You said it takes 4-6 months if it is applied to the CA service center and 11-13 months for the Vermont service center. This is a long time. What should I do? Am I too late?

Can my wife not travel now because of the expiring residential card?

P.S. My time line no longer shows because I had to get a whole new login, since they removed my old one. It was probably because I had not signed in for a long time.

    Salam Adil,

Its been long time no see, well my wife green card expiring on March as well coz she got CR1 also but no worries, when you file form I-751 and you get NOA1 and then you will another letter saying this will surve as 1 year extension to your green card which you can use it to travel along with ur expire green card and yeh I know the process for I-751 takes about 6 months so thats why they issue temporary extension. hope this help

    Wa- Salaam,

Wow, long time no see. How has everything been? Did you file your wife's I-751 yet, infinitboy?

Everything is good and hope same for you, no not yet but I am getting ready to file soon so hopefully by next week

  5. Reposting

A few questions for the resident experts here.

First a brief case status. I applied through a lawyer for my wife both I-130 and K3. The I-130 processing was completed and interview date received for April 8th 2008.

A month ago post I-130 approval the K3 was approved, procssed at NVC and now she received a packet from the embassy for an interview date of January 8th 2008 requesting the same original documents that we have already sent them for the I-130.

Considering i kept emailing them when the I-130 was being processed for an early interview date, they never did that stating heavy workload and now the K3 is scheduled for an earlier date - not complaining but what a mess.

    Questions i have are:

    1. Is there a possibility of them do the I-130 interview on the date they have scheduled the K3?

    2. All original documents were sent with the I-130, if she goes to the K3 interview what to expect?

    3. What other options are available.

Apologies if the questions are redundant, your responses are appreciated.

    Regards

Congrate man so thats the good thing that you have both interview's already schedule so here is what you can do just call embassy and tell them that your both cases is there and u got K3 interview date and ask them to change K3 interview to 130 interview so all you needed to do is take all the K3 doc they ask and since u already submit 130 docs they should have those and when they call ur wife name at embassy just go to counter and request them to do 130 interview instead of K3,

coz thats what happen with my wife case but only difference is that my wife only got K3 interview and embassy was in process of 130 date but I called them and told them to make K3 interview to 130 and they did it and since I went with my wife to embassy which is better and took both paper work K3 and 130, hope this help and good luck inshallah everything will be good

  6. Hi Humera,

I stayed in Crown Place when I took my wife for her interview back in March, its not very great but not too bad for the price, I paid about 1500.00 rupees for one day

    Thanks

Inifit, now that's a very reasonable price. Do you know where they are located? Blue area? I would appreciate any sort of contact info u have for them. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

    Humera,

not sure if I still have the address but I have look in my old papers so if I find any then I will let u know but all I know is that it was like 10 min away from embassy and area called Apara or something like that

  7. I apologize if this question has been asked before. I am trying to search within this thread but that feature is not allowed. And this thread is toooo long for me to browse hundreds of pages.

I want a cheap (but clean) hotel to stay in Islamabad only for 1 night. The last time I stayed in the Marina International (Blue Area) only a few years ago and it was not such a great place. The bathroom was dirty and the sheets not so immaculate. I definately want something close to the Embassy but reasonable as well. I wouldnt mind a guest house either. One thing I noticed is that if you tell the hotel that ur going to the Embassy, they tend to raise their rates.

I would appreciate any replys on this matter.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Humera.

  8. Hello everyone,

I just have one other question. When the Islamabad Embassy finally sends the passport back via courier after an IR interview, are they still using a wet red ink stamp for the visa ? The K3 visa is actually a computerized sticker and I was wondering what the IR will look like.

I just saw this on the PIA Website:

All passengers travelling through United Kingdom and holding the following documents require a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV):

    Passengers travelling to USA

Alien resident card (green card) issued before 21st April,1998.

I-551 stamp (red colour wet stamp). This stamp is issued to passengers whose alien resident card is under process.

Refugee passport. However, passenger doesnot require DATV if also holding permanent resident card issued after 21st April,1998.

    Transportation letter.

    Letter of parole.

BTW, someone told me PIA has further reduced the baggage weight requirements for people traveling to the U.S. It using to be approximately 60 lbs and I believe now its 50 lbs per suitcase (maximum 2 per person). I will have to confirm that with PIA.

    Hi,

Well IR or CR visa look like same as K3 so they all computerized sticker with photo on it, the only diff you see is each will have diff on visa category so like K3, CR1 or IR1 but they all look same and wich you good luck

    Thanks

  9. Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how their interview at the Islamabad Consulate went. I filed an I-129F and an I-130 on my husband's behalf, which both got approved and he is waiting to have his interview on May 15 2007  ? So what kind of experience did you have? When do they need the Medical exam- before the interview or on the day of the interview? Please share your experiences!!

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

well congrate and good luck for interview, My wife also had her 130 and 129 both approved and send to embassy so i chose 130 so she had her interview on March 6, 2007 and got her visa and she here in USA now alhamdullah, so for medical u need to do ur medical like 2 or 3 weeks before ur interview and u havetake with u at the time of interview so u do not have to send in prior to interview

Also I recomend that u attend ur husband interview that helps alot just like I did I took my wife with me to interview and she got her visa right away and it went very smooth and easy they just ask basic question should find those question in topic "calling everone going thru Islambad"

    Thanks

    Thanks,

I hope my husband's interview goes as well as your wife's interview....I will also be there for the interview to support my husband :). His medical is on April 22nd...please pray for us!!

When you attended the interview, what did they ask her? Did they allow you to be with her in the room while she was interviewing? and what evidence of your marriage did you bring to them?

I have online phone card receipts, which they are probably going to disregard, some pictures, some e-mails....letters from people who know us both and who can attest to the marriage....and I don't know what else to bring.

    Thanks again for your reply....

    Salam,

Dont worry inshallah ur husband interview will be good well they just her basic dummy questions like: what ur husband do and where he works, how many people live with him, how many brother and sister he has and the names, how many people invited in wedding and how many attended and name of the place where wededing took place etc..

Just take ur wedding pictures, and video and as u mention phone cards, emails and etc....

No they will interview him alone they will make u sit and if they need to ask u anything then they will call u

hope this help and good luck

  10. My wife had her K-3 interview last August and will do her CR-1 interview next week. She said the entire K-3 interview process was quite formal. All of her supporting documents were checked by a clerk first, then she waited for a half hour for her interview and the interview itself was quite short, mainly concerned with checking that her medical and supporting documents were complete and in order. Has anyone gone through both the K-3 and CR-1 interview process at the same embassy? Were they similar or do CR-1 interviews differ in intensity?

    Hi,

well first of all why r u having her interview in Taiwan u should file I-485 and have her interview done here in USA instead of going there and as far as interview goes they are almost the same

  12. Do you have doctor list in Karachi? SO I can ask my wife to get appointment in advance. I will be highly appreciated with this imformation.
Congratulations to everyone whose process is moving along. Please keep us updated on how things go with the interview, etc.

I have a quick question myself. I tried to e-mail the Islamabad embassy for a status on my wife's case, but I haven't heard back in a week. Should I e-mail them again, or is it better to just wait for a response? I don't want to upset them by constantly e-mailing, so I'm wondering what's a good timeframe to wait for a response.

    Thanks!

  17. Check out the NVC Flowchart in the Guides, the Guides are there to help you!!

    http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Pr...wchart_v1-2.pdf

    Thanks Riblet,

But chart only shows when NVC completes the case and send to embassy but it doesnt tell me what happen after embassy recives and what kind of packets is send by embassy and the content of each packets Thanks

  18. Begin by understanding what your visa options really are.

Click here to view the IR-1 / CR-1 Guide or check out the Guides Section for more helpful information on Spousal Visa's, as well as other visa types that apply depending on where you and your spouse currently reside.

Once you file you will have several options available to track your case.

As a note: This visa option is automatically applied for by K-3 applicants when they file the I-130 (part of the K-3 process). Historically the K-3 was used to allow the US Citizens spouse to enter the US faster than waiting for the I-130 to be approved (since that used to take a long time). Recent reductions in processing times have allowed I-130's to be approved quick enough that the IR1/CR1 visa process has been a quicker and better option for K-3 applicants. If this happens the K-3 applicant can abandon the K-3 route and persue the IR1/CR1 instead.

    Hi,

I just wana to know after NVC completes IR1/CR1 case and sends to embassy mine will be Islamabad, Pakistan embassy:

What steps embassy takes like what pakeges it sends and how long between each one and what each pakege content please help me to know I just wana to have rough idea Thanks
