  1. My wife, daughter and I arrived in Chicago friday morning. The woman in the back room was totally rude, did not look at our paperwork, and stamped the visa CR-1 instead of IR-1. As of our arrival date, we had been married 2 years and 2 months, 2 days. When I saw the stamp, I asked her about it, stating that we had been married more than 2 years. She said that since Rio wrote CR-1 as our visa type, she had to put CR-1 as well. I didnt argue with her anymore. When she was going to do my wife's fingerprints, she acted more like she was going to give her a rectal exam. Until this woman, everything had gone wonderfully. (Unfortunately I didnt get her name).

What do we do now? She didnt even explain how to remove conditions, and I never researched the I-751 since we should not have to do it. Has this happened to anyone else? Please help.

    Thanks Visajourney!

  2. My wife's Visa states her first name as Flavia, Middle name: Cristina Carneiro Pi, last name conley. She hates her name. Carneiro Pinto Conley? (Conley is an anglicization of Congalauch, which is Gaelic for "fierce as a wolfâ€).

Flavia Cristina Sheep ####### fierce as a Wolf? Not to mention that Flavia means "golden haired" in Latin, she is Morena, and Cristina means "follows Christ" and she is not religious....

It is just too much :)

  3. I live in Brazil, and my wife and I filed DCF in Rio. She is entering on a CR-1 visa. On our I-130, we wrote that we would live in Iowa with my mother. The thing is, 23 years after my parents divorced, they are back together again! My mom is moving to Wisconsin as we speak to live with my Dad. My Dad co-sponsored my wife on the I-864. Is this going to present any problems? We are going to live with them both, and we are worried about changing our address at the POE. I read a few posts on here about this, but nobody in the same exact situation. We fly in 2 1/2 weeks. Any advice?

    Thanks!

  4. You know, I have heard from friends of mine down here in Belo Horizonte and also from Americans (before I came to Brasil) that the immigration process was extremely expensive, difficult, and that Rio was hard to deal with. I have experienced nothing but the contrary (except the expensive part), and from reading all of the reviews, it seems that most people have had similar experiences: nice and easy.

I wonder if things used to be different, or if I only heard the worst?

I want to thank everyone on the site for helping when I had questions, and I look forward to helping people who file through Rio de Janeiro in the future!

  5. Here is the document order for DCF/(IR-1/CR-1) interviews, as listed in our Packet 4.

    1. Valid Passport.

    2. Birth Certificate*.

    3. Marriage Certificate*.

    4. Divorce Decree* (if applicable).

    5. Death Certificate from previous spouses* (if applicable).

    6. Military Certificate* (if applicable).

    7. Police Certificates*.

    8. Affidavit of Support and including documents (If the Affidavit has not been previously sent to NVC along with the petitioner's last federal tax form).

    9. Medical Examination Report.

    10. One frontal photograph showing both ears (5x5cm or 5x7cm).

    11. Application for Immigrant Visa Form DS-230 II (to be signed before the Consular Officer).

    12. Court Records, including process in the US* (if applicable).

    13. BCIS/DHS processes/records (eg deportation proceedings, voluntarily removal, change of visa category processes, petitions or hearings before immigration judges, etc.)*

If it is marked with an asterisk (*), it means you need to provide a simple copy of the documents as well.

  6. Ok, as far as having multiple copies, Rio requires that you have regular copies of her birth certificate, your marriage certificate, her police reports, and any court process or DHS/USCIS docs (meaning if she ever overstayed a visa or something). As for the specific order, yes there is. She should have received Packet 4 from the consulate, and it comes with all of these instructions. We are doing DCF, and our interview is March 28th. We received packet 4 on the 8th of March.

If you dont have it, send me a private message with your email and I can scan the document order thingamajig for you.

As for the flight, we thought about doing that too. We live in Belo Horizonte and we could have done it, but we ultimately decided it was too risky... I wouldnt if you are as paranoid about the process as I am.

  7. My Dad is filling out the I-864 to co-sponsor my wife. Question 23 of the I-864 asks for his "current individual annual income." The thing is, my Dad rents acreage to a farmer who lives near him, and my Dad included this as part of his Total Income on line 22 of his 1040. This adds a few thousand to his annual income, but for the purposes of reaching 125% of the poverty level, his work salary more than suffices. Now here is the dilemma. What amount should he put on line 23 of the I-864?? He has his W-2 which shows his salary, but doesnt have any paperwork to prove that he rents out his land (that he can get to me on time). Should he write only his salary info in this field?

    Any help is appreciated.
