  2. Thanks for the replies but I wanted to explain everything clearly...I DO NOT TALK TO HIM IN A 'MOTHER' WAY NEITHER AM I NOT NICE AND EXPLAIN IT TO HIM AS MY FIANCE....but I also do not want to be naive...i want him to have an understading...maybe i did come across as harsh in my explanation but i actually think that because i have been so soft and nice with him..he thinks is alright...and its not...but thank you all for the replies.

  3. I saw this on a website and thought it was a good conversation to start here......My honey tells me that I have change...that I did not worry as much before and that I was not such a "big mouth" but I think its part of the relationship, not to be "a big mouth" but to start getting clear on what you expect out of the relationship and the person you will marry or are already married to, and what your significant other should "tentatively' except when arriving/living in the states and with you. I dont want to sound like a wallstreet junkie but I personally have invested and still am investing a lot in this long-distance relationship (from trips, phone cards, paperwork AND TIME) and I do understand that a variety of that goes into any relationship so its all an investment. However, when you only see each other in either a 'made-up'/ 'structured' environment like a hotel or a 2 weeks trip, it can get hard to deal with 'normal' situations. For example, my fiance's english is basic. And I have asked of him several times to take an intense english course, but he has yet to find the 'time'. I think he feels that because we are both dominicans, with fluent spanish, he does not need to. However, I want him to understand that I will not take the role of his mother or babysitter when he comes here. And that I wont be his boss or the waitress at the restaurant or the receptionist at the doctor's office. I think slowly he is getting that, but slowly is not good enough for me, because I was able to invest and adjust right away in this relationship, and make things happen in order to make it stronger and I should expect the same from him.

    Sorry for the long post...but do you guys think he is right for telling i've changed, or is it part of the ongoing/growing relationship?....should I not expect or let him know what to expect when he lives in the states....for the most part... any non-offensive input is welcome.

  4. my i-129f confirmation from the post office said the folliwing:

    We attempted to deliver your item at 12:13 pm on October 02, 2006 in MESQUITE, TX 75185 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

    I thought there is always someone at the TExas Service Center to sign for the packages...how can this be...will my package be picked up or will it be lost?....please help to all of you.....

    thank you all so much..now i know not to worry

  6. thanks all...the only one I did not see was 'TOUCHED'

    THANKS AGAIN...VERY HELPFUL

    I know this might sound incredibly stupid but what does RFE stand for and what is it...I just started my application for my fiance so I have a long way to go learn all this vocabulary.

    there is also a couple of other words, which i have an idea of what they stand for but just in case, here it goes:

    CSC

    NSC

    NOA

    "touched"

    NVC

    RFE (IMBRA)

    NOA

    thanks all...and sorry "incredibly stupid" question but best to ask for the long process ahead....

    RFE=request for evidence

    CSC= California Service Center

    NSC=Nebraska Service Center

    NOA= Notice of Action

    "touched"= the date on your USCIS case status page has changed. (i.e. it says "Updated September 22," you were touched Sept 22)

    NVC= National Visa Center

    RFE (IMBRA)= A specific RFE they sent out for everyone who filed on or after March 6 but before around June 15 which is when a new form came out (unless they filed with the old form later). It is to comply with a law to protect foreign fiances, so USCs have to disclose criminal histories for some crimes, and whether or not they used a marriage broker, etc.

    NOA=you already asked that!

    Anyway, I'm just posting this in case anyone who reads this is too lazy to read the guides and they ask later... Also procrastinating on going to the post office. :P

    THANKS!!!!

  8. JUST IN CASE ANYONE ELSE HAD A QUESTION ABOUT SENDING AN I-134 WITH YOUR I-129F PACKAGE. HERE IS THE ANSWER

    ****Please note, while you are allowed to submit an I-134 Affidavit of Support with the I-129F package, it is not required and the embassy may eventually request that you submit the same information again to ensure that it is still valid. Typically the I-134 Affidavit of Support will be filled out by the US Citizen and sent to the fiance(e) for the K1 interview. It is not required to be sent to the Service Center with the I-129F (and not recommended). Some Consulates require extra information to be included with the Affidavit, so you need to hang onto it until you have learned whether or not there are additional requirements. These will be listed on the OF-167 "financial support" document the fiance(e) receives from the Consulate...***************

  9. The I-134 is sent by the Embassy once your petition has been approved. Many USCs complete the I-134 once they've received their NOA2 to reduce the time it takes to complete packet 3. You don't want to complete your packet 3 too soon as you want your financial information to be current at the time of filing. You're going through the DR, so you have a LONG wait. Last I heard, 12-18 months after approval for an interview to be scheduled??? The DR-ers can confirm/refute that though...

    Jen

    I am a US citizen but my family is from DR (and fiancee)...and I've heard the same...its a long wait...I am in for a treat :P
