  1. our case finally made it to nvs,, i called and spoke with a very nice man,, he told me "the case was under administrative review",, does anyone know what this means?

As I understand it, while your file is at NVC it is per se in admin. review. Generally takes about 2 weeks absent some issue arising with name or criminal record, etc.

  2. I called NVC yesterday morning, and was told they'd just received my file from CSC that day.

Today I got an email from NVC, answering my email of last week:

    "RE:GUZxxxxxxxxx

    Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2006 19:15:43 -0400

    Good Afternoon,

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

As part of the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, there are additional security check requirements for visa applicants. While it is not possible to predict when the clearances for this case will be finished by all involved Washington agencies, please be assured that as soon as the results are received the NVC will be able to schedule this case for an interview at the assigned US Embassy or Consulate General. As soon as an interview is scheduled notification will be sent to the designated agent by mail.

    Regards,

    National Visa Center"

I then called NVC. They said our file is undergoing additional administrative review.

    Questions:

    1. Is the GUZ number what people refer to as the "NVC number"?

    2. If so, does that mean we're done with NVC?? The email sure doesn't sound like it.

    3. What is "additional administrative review"? Any idea how long it takes?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Tom

Tom: FYI, I called NVC today and they said my file was sent to GUZ this morning. So, I guess I just spent 2 weeks total in admin. review; one month total at NVC. So, admin. review may not in all cases be a worse case scenario situation.

    Best of luck.

I am in precisely the same situation as you; almost exactly the same timeline. I have a GUZ number. Is this an NVC number; or has the file been sent to Guz. pending completion of admin. review. Is the admin. review something out of the ordinary? Does it mean one of the two names has hit a (false) positive and now must wait for time-consuming clearance..... What a pisser.

  4. Congratulations! ... now consider all you have to do to get ready for her arrival ....

Whooooo Boy, You got that right. Been livin the batch life for way too long. I've been going nutz doing project after project in preperation before she gets here. There's a glimmer of sun light shinning through. Not to mention the ####### I've gotta clean off my computer. Mostly nasty emails from my perverted friends.

My suggestion: throw the old computer out and buy a new one. That will prevent any regrettable occurences/discoveries in your first few months of wedded bliss!

  5. Just wondering if any of my fellow August filers are out there and feeling a little bit of hope due to the July approvals starting to come out of CSC? I know I am!!!

I was fighting the urge not to cave in to despair for a while there. I will wait as long as it takes, and I know, I know! We haven't waited as long as many, but there was the distinct fear we might, and seeing approvals of folks who filed just a few weeks before we did really is helping me feel a lot better about our prospects.

It still sucks to see absolutely no action when I check the USCIS website, but many posting of their approvals indicate the same thing... Nothing... Nothing... Nothing... NOA2!!!

I had nary a touch before i received the email on the NOA2. Good luck.

  6. FABULOUS!!! Very good to hear!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hope you're celebrating like mad and that the next steps will be smooth for you!

    :dance::dance::dance::dance:

One favor...Would you please fill in your timeline so that your info can be incorporated into the stats VJ compiles? Simply go to the "My Assistant" link, which is located just below the "Embassy/USCIS Reviews" link in the VJ navigation bar at the top of the screen. Thanks!! And congratulations once again!

    :time:

Kirsten: I am and will do. Thanks again.

  7. Hi,

I am another mid-July filer, who used an attorney and the new form, that received an NOA2 from CSC this week.

    Good luck to all
