  3. countdown to send in my documents for ROC on Nov 22 ( or a few days later )

I got a question , probly wont make a differance but I want to make sure ,

I got a new passport this year ,

so what am doing is copy the biological page of the old

as well as the biological and page 2 where it shows my address on the new passport ( new passport doesnt have any stamps in it will that be ok , or do i have to copy every page of the new passport ?

You don't need to send copies of your passport for the ROC. I could be wrong, but I didn't and I just looked over the forms really quickly and didn't see any mention of passport copies.

Check Cashed on October 18th, I only like a few minutes from the CSC office but nothing in the mail or receipts yet.

Is the check cashing the NOA or do we get a letter?

You'll get a receipt in the mail, which is the NOA1.

Updated the list. My bio appt has been rescheduled for Oct 1 @ 9am.

  5. Hey guys, updating my stats. I'm in Canada until approx Sept 20th and, of course, I got my bio appt letter a couple of days ago and it's scheduled for Sept 11th so DH is going to send it back in in order to reschedule. What a PITA. Hopefully they reschedule it for some time after Sept 20th. :bonk:

  6. Do you file at 2 years from receiving your GC? I saw somewhere that you can file up to 90 days before it expires?
You have to file within the 90 day window before your green card expires

Do you have to do another biometrics?
    Yes

    Provide proof of the relationship?
    Yes

Like AOS, is there a possibility of an interview? But if you get a CSC transfer, you may not get an interview?
    Yes and Yes

And how much does it cost? I'll be filing for myself and my son.
The fee is $465 plus $80 for biometrics plus another $80 for your son's biometrics. The amount could changed by the time you file though.

Then you get a 10 year GC?
If you are approved, yes, you get a 10-year green card.
  7. Updating the list... sending my ROC out this afternoon

  8. Change of plans, I'm busting my butt to get my ROC out asap this week. My mom informed me on Friday that she wants to "kidnap" my son & me after our trip to Disney World mid-Aug to spend 2-3 weeks in Canada. I'd rather have the ball rolling on my ROC and my NOA to avoid unnecessary drama at the border and I'm too nervous to wait until we get back home to send it off in case I forget something, it's sent back to me, and they get it back too late. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Damn USCIS for being a PITA! Now I just hope things work in my favour and my bio appt isn't scheduled for when I'm in Canada. Anyone have any experience with rescheduling a bio appointment? Walk-ins aren't exactly an option because, as I've mentioned before, my local office is a 5+ hour long drive one way. :bonk:

  9. I hate to wait so long but my local office is a lovely 5ish hour long drive one way so it'll probably end up being an overnighter like it was for my AOS bio appt. It's also quite a drive to attempt a walk-in type thing, so alas, I must wait. Damn timing!

    :o

I didn't think anywhere was 5ish hours away in Florida. Where the heck are you?

lol I'm in the Panhandle (between Pensacola & Panama City) and our local office is in Metairie, LA.

  10. I guess I should join this thread as well. I could have filed June 30th, but we have a trip to Disney World planned in August and I knew that if I sent my ROC in now, I'd have crappy luck and my bio appt would be scheduled when we're away. So, I am waiting... I plan on sending it in at the last possible moment before we leave, which should be around August 14th. I hate to wait so long but my local office is a lovely 5ish hour long drive one way so it'll probably end up being an overnighter like it was for my AOS bio appt. It's also quite a drive to attempt a walk-in type thing, so alas, I must wait. Damn timing!

Anyhow, until then, I shall learn from your experiences. :D

  11. Hello everyone! I recognize some of you from the AOS board, specifically from the "May Filers" thread. :)

I have been browsing this board for a few weeks now and researching so that I'm ready and up-to-date when I file to remove conditions at the end of June/beginning of July. I've searched for an answer to what I'm about to ask but I have been unsuccessful in finding anything. I know how annoying it can be when the same question is asked over and over again so please know that I did my best to find the answer before I asked. As far as the sworn affidavits from family/friends go, does the writer have to be a US citizen? The directions on the I-751 form don't specify one way or the other and I want to know if anyone here knows the answer before I ask a couple of Canadian friends to write one for me. :help:

  12. I had a baby (I'm canadian, DH is american) this past September (2008) and am about to start the passport process. I contacted the Canadian consulate for my area and was advised to get the US passport, then apply for his citizenship certificate from Canada then apply for his Canadian passport (need the canadian citizenship certificate in to prove he's Canadian for the passport). I have no idea about timelines, but someone I know who also had a baby in Sept applied for a US passport for her baby and got it in 2 weeks. I'm hoping we get the same treatment. Good luck!

Hey Karly, I'm trying to apply for the Canadian Citizenship certificate for my baby too. I'm wonderign if you've already started the application process. I have the forms filled out but having a lot of trouble with what they need as supporting documents. Can you give me any advice?

    Joanna

I've been procrastinating so I haven't started the process yet, but when I contacted the canadian consulate, I was informed I could use his SS card as proof of identity and that one form of ID may be sufficient evidence for an infant (along w/ birth cert). I'm thinking of using his US passport (when we get it) and his SS card. Hopefully that'll be enough. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck!!

  13. I had a baby (I'm canadian, DH is american) this past September (2008) and am about to start the passport process. 14. The brown envelope from your medical will be handed over at your POE (DO NOT OPEN IT) and they keep it with your file.

For your AOS process, you need to bring your vaccination worksheet you got at your medical to a civil surgeon and have him/her transfer the info to a vaccination supplement sheet (I-693A). However, if it's been over a year since your medical, you will need to get a complete medical done by a civil surgeon in the US and the doc will fill out form I-693 and you will include that with your AOS paperwork.

  15. Bonjour!

Your french written is better than mine!

  17. Bruce and I are expecting our first baby in less than 6 weeks and I need some info from those of you who have given birth in the US. I've tried contacting the Canadian Embassy that serves my area twice via email with no response so I figured I would try here before trying them again (via phone).

Oh, a little background for those of you who may not know who I am (not sure if it'll help answer my questions). I am Canadian & Bruce is a USC and I moved to the US with a K-1 visa in Nov. 2006 and I received my 2 yr. GC last September (2007).

I've been doing research in regards to what needs to be done after the baby is born in order to get him/her a Canadian passport and I've found that before I apply for a passport, I'm going to need to get the baby a Canadian Citizenship Certificate (please correct me if I'm wrong) to be used as proof of Canadian citizenship for the passport application. That's all fine and dandy, but it seems as though the application for the certificate is made for an adult-type submission. The thing I'm worried about is the documentation that is needed in order to prove the baby's identity. On page 9 of the "Application for a Citizenship Certificate from Outside Canada" guide found here, the last square on the left hand side states:

“If you were born outside Canada to a Canadian parent on/or after February 15, 1977, you must send:

    • a birth certificate which lists your parents (issued by government authorities in the country where you were born)

    • proof that one or both of your parents was a Canadian citizen when you were born (for example, citizenship certificate or Canadian birth certificate)

    • two (2) pieces of personal identification, such as a driver’s licence and a health insurance card

    • other documents, such as your marriage certificate and/or legal name change certificate (if applicable)”

I am worried about the third point (the one I bolded) because I don’t believe our baby will have one piece of personal identification, let alone two pieces. Are there special exceptions for infants? Also, is there anything else I’m missing in regards to the steps I need to take in order to get a passport for my son or daughter (first citizenship certificate, followed by passport)? :bonk: Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
