Dear all,
I know this is an older threat. But I do have a quick question. Has anyone gotten a temporary military ID card for dependents? I am supposed to renew mine every 90 days until I have my social security number. That will take a while - for sure....
I find it a little weird.
I don’t have a SSN yet (we are pcsing stateside in 10 days) and i’ve Been married since 2015. Got my military ID 2 years ago and we only needed our marriage certificate.
I never heard of a temporary ID (maybe because we are overseas).
-
First thing: You need to be in his orders.
it’s actually a grey area. Technically once you are in his orders you should be fine but really depends on the person you find at CBP.
I’ve heard good and bad about this.
I actually discussed it with an IO and she said it depends really on the person who let you in when you return from overseas.
-
You might wanna double check that cuz I did a quick search on US Embassy manila website and what I read is different than what you wrote. They want, as I suspected, marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.
POA is super easy to get so you won’t have any issue with that.
-
I find it a bit unusual but I guess you can try. You will need, at least, your marriage certificate.
When I got mine my husband was with me so I suppose you should have at least a copy of his military ID which by the way is illegal to photocopy so good luck with that.
I would just get it done at the base where you guys are stationed at.

Thank you very much! I was getting stressed out about it.

Good morning,
I’m about to enter the States in my IR visa in a couple of weeks. Our POE was supposed to be Denver. That’s where I will be living and where my husband has his house. I also indicated Denver in my paperwork to receive the green card and as permanent address in the US.
The Army pays for our ticket and they decided yesterday to send us to LAX. We sadly don’t have a saying in that so LAX is now my port of Entry.
Since there’s this new development we decided to stay in LAX a couple of days to visit my father in law (my husband hasn’t seen him in years due to the military) and make our way to Denver on a road trip.
Can this be a problem for my green card? Am I going to have issues at POE for this? Are they going to transfer my file to USCIS in Denver so they can print my Green Card?
Sorry if it’s a dumb question but I’m no expert on the matter.
Thank you

That's is about the only acceptable reasons Immigration gives for proxy marriages. Glad it all worked out for you.
I cant see USCIS deny a military proxy marriage due to military deployment, plus you had a history of living together, that counts.
Very best wishes.
Thank you so much
It seems to be a common thing among the military community overseas. Most of the people stationed here in Italy with us got married by proxy.

You had proxy marriage but filed DCF? Military I bet.
That makes a big difference, being military with Proxy marriages. THOSE never have issues.
Yes. We lived together for a year before getting married. Proxy was our only option due to his deployments and whatnot.
And we filed for my IR after 2 years of marriage. We never lived apart since we met. Apart from his time spent away due to military duties.

Proxy marriages are hard to satisfy USCIS
I had zero issues with my proxy marriage. Not a single RFE nor a sigle question at the interview about it.
Many people I met had no problem either.
maybe there was something else that made them doubt about your case?
-
Personally we got married by proxy and we got my IR visa with no problem. But our situation is different because we were living together here in Italy where he is stationed with the military at the time we did the proxy. And we went for the proxy marriage just because he couldn't take time off of work due to deployments.
so I would assume that proxy marriages are fine as long as the marriage is consumed.
i would also assume that Pakistan is a harder embassy to go through than Italy so think carefully before making your final decision.
you can also postpone the wedding to when you will have a Pakistan tourist visa. In the meantime keep collecting proof of your on line convos and whatnot.
Good luck

Yeah, that's why you can just sit back and wait for now When it changes to non-immigrant - administrative processing, that means the visa is very close to being issued.
Actually I was curious about this. Everybody says it changes to "non immigrant " and it goes back and fort from AP to ready. But mine never changed to "non immigrant". Also it went from "ready" before my interview to "AP" right after the interview and to "issued" right after the AP.
mine was IR visa though

Hi Vale, my husband is in the military as well. How long did your application take to be approved? Was your casellario giudiziale in English as well or Italian? Thank you
Best of luck!!!!!!
We sent everything to Rome mid April. We went to our interview in August. So in total was 4 months.
yes it was in English
-
Translation is not a requirement. Either Italian or English is fine.
Personally I got everything in English just because the military translated it.
Other people I know went to Naples with papers only in Italian and they got approved just fine.
-
You will find it in a separate sheet with the rest of documents that the consulate will send you
or at least that's what they did with mine

Dublin and Abu Dhabi also have "pre-clearance".
Do you know if Other airports in Europe have pre clearance? I will be traveling on my IR visa next month.
The army will soon book our tickets but we will for sure leave from Venice and with a layover, most likely in Frankfurt or Heathrow (London). Then off to Denver.

Yes, I chose home delivery. So DHL
courrier will come directly to my house.
and usvisa-info is still on "send documents " status from last week when I sent my passport to the embassy.
-
We only used my husband's W2 for the last 3 years.

Hello my visa got issued yesterday 🎉
My status on ceac says: issued. Your visa has been printed etc etc
I got my interview in Naples, Italy. now my question is: do I have to receive a tracking number or something? DHL will deliver straight to my house.
On usvisa-info my status is still on "send documents" from when I had to send my passport to the embassy last week. I'm kinda worried because I haven't seen any update on usvisa-info and haven't received any shipment info.
thank you!
Rome, Italy Embassy... I-130 by mail or in person?

When we were stationed in Aviano, we mailed our package to Rome. It arrived in less than 24 hrs.
There is a list on the embassy website with the requirement you need to have to use DCF.
In our case was simply his military orders where it was stated that he was assigned to Italy.
In your case you need to check the requirements for civilian which I believe is permesso di soggiorno, carta d’identità etc etc.
