1. Hello!

So...I have a question for all of you. Does your husband go out to night clubs without you? Are you okay with that?

The reason I ask is because Duane was a DJ back in JA. He really misses playing music so he hooked up with a local DJ and he goes out every Thursday to play. I am totally okay with that. On occasion, we go out on Friday or Saturday night also. This weekend, I was asked to work overtime both days and I agreed because we really need the money. I just got home after working all day and Duane says he wants to go out tonight...I am completely wiped out and was hoping we would have a quiet evening in since I need to get up and be back at work at 7:00am.....We went to dinner and a movie last night.......

When I tell him this, he says that he would like to go by himself.....I was like......#######! I understand that he wants to get out the house but I feel like he is being kinda selfish considering the fact that I am working so "we" can have food on the table. Am I being wrong to feel this way???? Do married folks really go to clubs by themselves?? If so, why??? I understand that we all need our space but I kinda feel like this is a slap in the face. I work all freaking weekend so he can go out and play....Oh yes...and pay $10.00 cover charge and 15.00 taxi fare......Why can't we have a nice evening in???

I read everyones comments and I partially agree with some and then I have to disagree with others.

I wanted to comment on the fact that you stated "The reason I ask is because Duane was a DJ back in JA. He really misses playing music so he hooked up with a local DJ and he goes out every Thursday to play"

First question, did you feel this way when he was in Jamaica going to DJ ALONE?

I believe that if you approach him in the wrong way you may send the message that you don't support what he loves and you don't trust him.

Second Question, Did duane state that he did not want you to ever go out to the clubs with him or did he say you don't bring sand to the beach? If he duane said "you don't bring sand to the beach" Hell YA YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE PISSED OFF. If not, please don't worry he asked to go alone 1 time because you were tired and remember you acknowledge that you knew about the arrangement he had with this local DJ.

Personally I feel as if you should make a day out of the week were you and Duane do something togather that YOU love.

Why take away the man's little enjoyment that he has just found.........unless he has giving you reason to doubt him don't stress yourself.

  2. I want to thank everyone for the great information and support.

I decided it would be best for me to attend the interview. So, I have been picking up extra overnight shifts so that I can be prepared when Rohan gets here.

Congrats, to all that have been approved and good luck to those who are awaiting their interviews!! :D

I can tell you right now......growing up w/Jamaicans parents me wearing someone else clothes is not going to work. I made that mistake when I was a child and lets just say I never did that again..... My parents were not having it AT ALL!!!!!

oooo girl I definitely can relate to that, Memories :P

  3. Thanks and I am so glad that I posted that link as well! I agree with you on the ETJ being a great site to learn about JA culture, on the other hand it just seems hard to get positive vibes about the hole visa process that I oftentimes get discouraged. Congrats to you and Gregory on your journey! Any help I can get at this point is appreciated. A good pep talk wouldn't hurt either!

ETJ is a great site :D I recommend it to everyone who is in need of learning the Jamaican culture. I really think it is important to know about your spouse/fiancé culture before and especially after he comes to the U.S.

Trust me, both of my parents were born and raised in Jamaica and we have filed for many of our family members. From what I have seen growing up the adjustment is very difficult and Jamaicans are very proud people. A lot of them will not allow America to change who they are.

My feelings on some of the post I have read is patience, understanding and willingness to learn a new culture yourself.

I do agree VJ is the best site to get information on the filing process. There is no other site that will give you correct information and support: luv: I LOVE THIS SITE :luv:

As for me and the filing process we just got our interview date 11/02 I am so happy

I finally get to put my belly/dancehall dancing moves to work....can't wait . Well, at least a few whines ;)

Stone Love will be here next Saturday. My friends and I may go if my hips (back and neck) don't hurt

Please no DUTTY WHINE we wouldnt want you to lose your head

  4. Is this the song Baby Chams sings Ghetto Story? I need to get up to date with my Dancehall Music. :D

I need a trip to Jamaica :crying: !

i have 29 more days till the BIG day and 28 days till i see Mr. Mikey... :D:D:P mr. mikey it just reminds me of Cham's song...

    Shauna-

I started to die laughing when I read this in your post......Last June when I was in Jamaica, I asked Duane to play the "Mr. Mikey" song.......he just stared at me with a puzzled look and then he started laughing hysterically......He said...."baby, the song says "ME SAY MIKEY"......and NOT Mr. Mikey"......oh well...I used to say "Bad man Flower....bad man pull up" so I guess I will never get it right...

it has been going on for 2 weeks...first she started refusing to eat and now it is just waiting...i know that sounds morbid but really that is what we are doing...yesterday she was responding to touch and people talking to her...today nothing just sleeping...it is really hard on my mom...she can't stand looking at her and not understanding why she isn't eating....and the lady at hospic explained it to us as her body just shutting down....

I am sooo sorry..I know how hard this must be for you and your family.....I will keep you in my prayers.....

:lol: It was under his pillow. :luv: He said he just fell asleep and meant to put it on the nightstand. ;)

:lol::lol: NO he didn't.........How freakin cute is that??????????? :P:P

  5. :D I am so impressed with Duane's artwork. Both of you make a great team.

Happy Wednesday!!! (Well.....I guess better late than never... )

Been working ALL day on making Duane's website....I finally finished about 10 minutes ago........

I swear I thought I was going to kill him or divorce him today <_< He was sitting behind me telling me what I needed to do and how to do it...I almost threw the computer at him!!! :P:whistle::wacko:

Anyhow......check it out if you have a chance and tell us what you think...we are hoping to get some hits and sales soon!!!!! Also...Duane named the website and you are going die when you hear what he named it!!

He named is "Embassy Art"........:yes::yes: How cute........

    The website is: www.embassyart.homestead.com

    Have a good night

Oh no thats awful! I am glad to hear that everyone is ok.

Ah well...this is par for the course in Jamaica...thank God no one was killed; pray for the best--it'll soon be done.

    Ann

Well, I have some news...not necessarily good news, but not necessarily bad news either...Well, as I stated earlier this morning, Gregory & his mom rode to Kingston early this a.m. to drop off the DS-230, pick up his passport and try and get his police certificate...Well things DID NOT quite go as planned: While they were on their way to the Embassy this morning the driver HIT A MAN that had run out into the street (according to Gregory after talking to the guy, it was obvious that he was mentally ill). When they braked to keep from hitting the guy, the car behind them ran into them (not too much damage!) Anyway, by the time they got to the Embassy it was 10 minutes after 10, and the lady at the window informed him that the window closed at 10 am. She told him that he could leave it with someone orhe would have to come back tomorrow to drop it off. He told her that he was unable to drop it off because he had to work, but he asked if his mother could drop it off in the morning and she said YES!! His mom is staying in Kingston until Saturday so, she's supposed to go there tomorrow a.m. to drop it off. He left the papers to pick up his passport with his mom, as he had to go with the driver of the car to try and get it in some semblence of order so they could get back on the road... I talked to him a few minutes ago, and he let me know that she was able to pick up his passport. As for the police certificate, he said he was going back to get that next week, along with his marriage form. I don't know....At this point, I'm drained, irritated, and just want it all to be done! :(

  6. Hello everyone

I have been searching for a person or a place where I could get support and a little bit of understanding. I stumbled across this site and have felt a bit of relief ever since.

I have been reading everyone's helpful advice and trying to educate myself through this LONG Fiance visa process.

I have PM a few of you already and I am so thankful for all the great advice and information that was sent to me.

Just to give you a little background. Rohan and I started the process in July and we got approved about 10 days ago and I am so excited. He is in Kingston with family waiting until Monday to go to the Embassy to pick up "THE PACKET" and get his interview date (DS-230 completed already!).

I have a serious dilemma, can't go to the interview 98% sure of it .

I would love some advice from someone who was in the same situation as myself.

    Thanks
