I've been looking for this information for so long. Thank you and good luck in the interview! So you had no issues at the NVC stage because the two-year requirement hadn't been fulfilled yet?
Happy to help! No problems! Our visa was actually issued today!! The officer asked my fiancé about his J1, and he told the officer it would be fulfilled the end of November. The officer said it was no problem.

@LandurerasonWell this is a tricky one....first thing is, the web site changes regularly and you always be able to move your interview (if I`m not wrong if you are at lease two days before the interview).......One thing I`m not familiar and it is not clear, so the HRR on Nov 30 will require her to go back to Brazil correct?
Anyways, just as a feedback I had to reschedule my interview once and you will have to be visiting the site constantly and see empty spots on the agenda.
Good to know. We actually contacted the consulate and we were told we can go to the interview on Nov. 28th and if all goes well, they will issue our visa after the 30th.

Hello @Landurerason I did all my exams in Sao Paulo. Just so you know I have already gone through that phase, and currently on the AOS stage, but going back to your point.
Yes you can do everything in one day, yes it is very expensive, yet you can finish all the exams in one day you would need to get back to the medical appointment to receive your packet which is something I recommened, why? K1 visa is a long journey, and although they offer you the option to send your packet direct to the embassy I`m sure you dont want anything to go wrong and delay all of your process.
Like I said, if possible, visit SP again one week later to get your packet at the Medical Office your attended initially. One thing you want to make sure, give some time between the interview (which is supposed to be in Rio) and receiving your medical docs.
Feel free to ask any questions and I will be happy to help since I know how complex this process can be specially at the beginning.
Actually, they are sending the documents from the medical exam directly to our address using SEDEX. The doctor's office also sends you a tracking number.
Thank you for offering your help! VJ has been so helpful throughout this process.

Answering my own question for anyone that may be in the same situation. We called São Paulo and we were told that we can do everything needed in one day for the K1 medical exam. We were emailed a bunch of forms to fill out. However, it is much more expensive than we originally thought. For everything EXCEPT the vaccinations, the cost is R$1.200.
In addition, it takes ONE WEEK to receive the document from the medical exam from the interview. We were told this could get sent to us if the doctor agrees, or we can pick it up. Since we live so far from São Paulo, we're hoping that the doctor will send us the documents.

Hello,
We have officially received our NOA2, and recently the consulate from Rio emailed us and said we can now schedule our interview and medical exam. However, on the website there are only TWO dates offered: November 21st and November 28th. My fiancé's two year home residency requirement will be fulfilled on November 30th. Our original plan was to wait until December to avoid any sort of conflict, but there is only two options for the interview! Our question is, do we schedule the interview anyway? Can the consulate wait to issue the visa until the 30th? We don't want to be denied because we went to an interview two days before the home residency requirement (HRR) was fulfilled. We've been very straightforward about this in all of our paperwork by explicitly stating the dates the HRR would be fulfilled and that we would go to the interview after Nov. 30th. However, this isn't an option at this point.
I also wanted to let other Brazilian applicants know that there will be VERY limited options for dates and times to schedule your interview.
Thanks for any and all feedback!

It might just take awhile to be input in their system. My consulate was Canada, and they weren't actually ready for me to go to the next step (which I think is when they put me in their system), until 3 weeks after my tracker said ready. Even more annoying is that I was told we were a pivot case, and were being trialled in the new electronic system.... So it's not like there was any actual mailing involved. Hopefully they will have it soon! I would definitely keep contacting them at least once a week just to check in.
Wow. Okay. It makes me feel better that other people has had this happen too. Thanks!

Dang. I tried a bunch of queries myself from mid-Sept. to now and no luck either. I see packages for other countries, but none for Brazil. =\
Edit: nvm on the rest..of course NVC got it already since you have a case number.
Thanks anyway!

Did you try tracking the package from NVC?
Somebody posted a link on how to do it way back, but the simplified version is to just go here and enter the reference number and date range. The reference number is in the following format:
EXP dd MMM yyyyA
dd = 2 digit day
MMM = month (abbreviated)
yyyy = 4 digit year
Example: EXP 24 APR 2017A
http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html
While I don't know if this is always the case, they tend to be 1 day behind the actual ship date. So the packages shipped today (the 25th) have a reference number of the 24th.
Just tried this, but no luck. No results appeared.

NVC doesn't schedule interviews for a K-1. NVC only gets the approved I-129F, assigns a case number, packages it, and sends it off to the embassy. The embassy or the individual schedules the interview (varies from embassy to embassy).
My assumption is the embassy hasn't received the physical packet yet or hasn't processed it into their system still.
Thanks for your response.
So it's possible that they have our packet, but just haven't put it in the system? If this is the case, that would make me feel better. But I'm still confused why would the NVC say that it's already in Rio when it isn't actually there? It just worries me that it could be lost in the mail.

Hello,
We received our NOA2 on October 2nd. The email said to wait for notification from the consulate in Rio to schedule our interview and medical exam.
BUT on the CEAC website, it says that our petition is ready and we can schedule our interview:
After waiting two weeks with still no word from the consulate in Rio, I emailed them and they told me they have no record of our petition and to wait until they receive it. But why would it say ready if it hadn't arrived in Rio? Are we missing something? Should we contact the NVC?
Thanks in advance. I really don't know what we would do without this wonderful VJ community.

If there is a field that require input and cannot be typed in using the computer, when you're done with the document, print it and then write those fields in black ink.
EDIT: Sorry, did not read the question properly. Spaces that doesn't apply to you, you can also handwrite. "N/A" or "none" too.
Thanks! I will do this.

Hey guys,
We have received our NOA2 and are waiting for notification from the consulate in Rio de Janeiro to set up the medical exam and interview. In the meantime, we're trying to get as much documentation as possible organized.
I am really confused with the newest I-134 form and I am having a hard time finding updated information about it. Here are my questions:
1. I am unemployed. For Part 3 (Other Information About the Sponsor), how do I correctly indicate that I'm unemployed?
2. For evidence, the directions ask for a letter from my employer. I don't have an employer, so do I omit it? I've read that some people write a letter with an explanation, but I would like to specifically what I can do to substitute for this requirement and what to put in this letter. I've worked in the past, have tax returns, pay stubs from past jobs, and W2s, etc. Do I include this information as well? If so, what exactly do I need to include? I also have a co-sponsor that can supply all the evidence, but I cannot due to my present unemployment.
3. The directions only ask for a letter from an employer, a bank statement, and bonds. Tax returns are only required if self-employed. My co-sponsor is not self-employed. I keep reading that W2s, pay stubs, and tax returns are included as evidence in the old I-134, but are these documents necessary? How much proof is actually recommended? Here are the directions:
4. I have several areas that are not applicable. In the directions, it states that, "Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed." However, I'm typing my form and it doesn't allow me to type N/A OR None in several places! I can handwrite the document, but I was wondering if other people filled in every single line of the form or if many lines were left blank.
5. Does Rio de Janeiro's U.S. Consulate accept co-sponsors? Has anyone done all the paperwork and been successful? Their consulate's website doesn't explicitly say, but basically just requests proof that you have enough money to support your fiancé.
Thanks Visa Journey friends!

Hello,
My fiancé is planning to do the medical exam in São Paulo, Brazil. Is it possible to do everything required for the K1 medical exam in one day? We are living a far from São Paulo, so we want to save as much time as possible.
Obrigada!

First, have you received your NOA2 or are you thinking about applying for your I-129F?
For the I-129F, it shouldn't matter. I'm a student and I've been studying abroad; it was no problem. How much money you make is only a big issue once you go to the interview to actually receive the K1.
If they approve your I-129F, you have to fill out other forms for the interview. If you don't make enough money (I believe you have to be 125% above the poverty line), you have to get a sponsor who is willing to financially support you and your fiancé. You would then have your sponsor fill out the Affidavit of Support IN ADDITION to your own Affidavit.

Hello,
My fiancé is applying for the K1 visa at the consulate in Rio de Janiero. We have received our NOA2, and we are gathering documents for the interview. However, we are a little confused about the requirements for the police certificates/background checks. My fiancé lived in Paraguay for more than 10 years, but he is Brazilian and was born in Brazil. The consulate asks for police certificates from all countries that he has lived in for more than 6 months.
So, we're wondering if the document we need from Paraguay is the "Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales". If this is the document we need, what is the easiest way to get it?
We appreciate any feedback!

Similar Inquiry (K1-Form Question
I have completely filled out my form online. But for my first employment history, it will not let me enter an end date and it will not let me type in the "present" or N/A
Does anyone know what to do? Should I just write this in in hand after I print it when the rest of it is typed?
Also, for the additional information section. If I have more than one address do I only put one address in each section or can I list all of them under one section?
There are six spaces for additional information and I just don't know if I have to put one address in each one or if I can list them all since they're all on the same page under the same section.
i've gone through the how to fill out instructions provided on the US CIS website but they don't address either of these issues. They just say you can make a copy of the additional information page if you need more room.
Thank you everyone. This process is overwhelming at times!
Whatever doesn't work online, just write by hand with black ink. We had to do the same thing for a few areas, such as my city in Brazil. Just make sure it's neat and clean.
Also, make sure you have the new version of the I-129F that expires in 2018. As far as your other addresses, are you referring to the I-129F or the G-325a?

1 - Leave them blank. In case you haven't seen this, here is an example form http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-129F.pdf
2- Leave Postal Code blank if you are in the US. Zip code is basically the same thing as Postal Code but PC's are used in a lot of countries in place of ZC
Yes. So for my country, we used Postal code, and my fiancé (the U.S. citizen) used Zip Code.
Hang in there!!

Since we used different ways to communicate, we made sure we covered the full 2+ years using screenshots from various apps. For example, we would screenshot a conversation in Oct. on WhatsApp, and a conversation from Nov. on FB. We used screenshots from our cell phones, and this seemed to work well. We also took screenshots of any social media events. We organized everything based on the app we used.

Thanks for all the feedback! We really appreciate it--lawyers can't seem to give us a reliable answer.

If you are worried about that, is it possible for you to cross the border to another country? People living as tourists in Nicaragua cross to Costa Rica all the time in order to "reset" their tourist visa, in a manner of speaking. Thus, they don't accumulate any overstay and are able to live in Nicaragua for years.
OR
Is there an option to extend her tourist visa?
In Brazil, she can stay here for a max of 180 days with the extension (90 days+90 days) a year. She will have maxed out 180 days by the end of June. The visa doesn't "reset" if you cross the border into Paraguay or Argentina. You just stop accumulating days.

Hello,
I would love any feedback to my question: My K1 is currently processing, and my fiancé (U.S. citizen) is in Brazil with me. She wants to stay in Brazil until the visa interview, and we are hoping we can go to the U.S. together if all goes well. However, this would require her to overstay her tourist visa. Brazil's immigration laws are pretty lax, and she would just have to pay a fine when she leaves the country. However, will this effect our K1 in any way? We don't want to get denied.
K1 visa approved, but how long for delivery?

Hello!
Our k1 visa was approved on November 28th.
Does anyone know how long it takes for the Rio de Janeiro consulate to issue/finish processing the k1 visa + shipping? We want to be home for Christmas, but we don't want to buy our ticket too early if the passport hasn't come in the mail.
Thanks!
