  1. Good morning!

Hope everyone is doing well. On p 2, part 1, item 22 it asks you to list all addresses since becoming a permanent resident. My wife was issued her Green Card in August, 2018. Prior this date, we lived in Texas for a brief time during which time she received her work authorization pink card. My question is whether or not I should put the Texas address down in part 11 of the form since this is technically prior to her getting her Green Card?

    Thank you for the help.

  2. Hello.

My wife and I will be applying for Removal of Conditions from her temporary green card soon. Unfortunately, I am losing my job and thus our healthcare. My wife works for the county nursing home and can get healthcare through there but it's too expensive to extend that to my son and me. My question is will immigration view my son and me getting healthcare through Medicaid or CHIP as being a public charge towards my wife's next green card? Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

    Thank you.

  3. Just getting on to see what people are thinking.

My wife immigrated from the Philippines and got her Conditional Green Card in August 2018. We were/are planning on applying for her new ten year Green Card next month (May). With Trump's new executive order barring new Green Card allocations, I'm wondering if there will be trouble in renewing her status on time. Details are few at this moment and questions are already being raised about whether or not there will be exemptions in cases like ours. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

  4.   Hi everyone.

Currently filing out the I-864A for my Dad and his second-wife. They are both using their incomes to sponsor my wife for the Green Card. They filed their taxes jointly and I am wondering if they must each have their own form or if one is enough? There is only one line to put a name on on I-864A, so I'm wondering what to do?

Also, since they filed jointly, do I separate their incomes when listing what their monthly income is per month? Example: If their combined income is $6000 per month ($4K from my dad / $2k from his wife), do I put the $6000 for both of them or do I separate them by each form?

Thanks for the help. Our interview is on the 8th and we're excited to conclude this process for a bit.

    Cheers,

  5. Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've been on here, so here's an update. I finally moved back to the US where my Filipino wife and son were while I was in Saudi Arabia working as an English teacher. Since then, we've moved to Texas and I started a new position. In April, my wife got her EAD and today we just got her notification for an initial interview. Normally, I'd be celebrating as we applied in December and the timing is pretty fast, comparatively. The problem is that I recently lost my job and am currently unemployed. Our interview is set for August 8th and there's no way I can get a replacement job in education before then.

My family and I are currently in the process of moving back to Michigan to move in with family and to minimize our costs. Obviously, I'm concerned that my wife will be denied a green card and be sent back to the Philippines. How can I avoid this? Any advice?

I have to fill out a support form that include all of our financial information. Am I able to include my family's salary since we'll be living with them? We are a family of three and I believe we technically need to make $28K+ per year. Sorry if this is all jumbled up, I'm really nervous about the outcome of next months meeting.

    All advice would be grateful!

    Thank you!

  6. Happy Easter everyone!

My wife and I just moved to Texas from Michigan and I know we have to notify USCIS of the change for her green card, exit-entry card, and work permit applications. How do we do this? Is it the same process for each form? Also, will this move delay the processing of her applications? We’re anxiously waiting for her exit-entry card and permission to work. We applied in December and she had her biometrics interview two months ago.

    thank you for the help!

  7. Hi everybody.

We got our package ready to send out and I'd just like to confirm that the total fee for AOS is $1225, is right? $1140 for I-485 + $85 for Biometrics. It's my understanding that the fees for I-131, I-864, and I-765 are waived in lieu of the I-485 payment?

Thanks for clarifying. Wouldn't want to have everything sent back because of the wrong fee being sent.

    Cheers!

  8. Thank you for the prompt response.

I'm aware that the whole process takes longer than the 90 days, my concern is that she won't get the 'Pending' status that legally extends her stay beyond the 90 days before then.

Maybe i'm not understanding something, but I'm of the opinion that if USCIS hasn't officially accepted our AoS application as complete then my wife would have to leave. Is this wrong?

    Thank you again.

  9. Hi everyone.

I hope everyone is doing fine with their respected cases.

We've just finished up our AoS application and are sending it in soon. I'm just a tad bit worried about my wife's 90 day period running out. Her K-1 expires on Jan. 26. In the event that our application gets an RFE and our time starts to run short, is their anything that can be done to extend her stay in the US? Also, on average how long does it take for USCIS to send an acceptance notice so we don't have to worry about her time?

Thanks for everything. This site has been greatly appreciated with the information it's provided!

    Regards,

  10. Hi everyone.

Could you please review the immunization record that my wife had done in Manila a few months back? It's my understanding that this is all we need to submit for the medical portion of the AOS since she already had a physical for her K-1. I have a couple of concerns that I'd like clarified, if you don't mind.

    1) Every column on the far right has a code, A or B, except the MMR. The MMR has a date as being given and it's checked off on the far left. Is this fine?

    2) On the second page, if you look, the doctor typed his/her signature (initials, actually). Is this going to be a problem? If so, what do we need to do?

    3) Assuming everything is correctly filled out, do we just attach a copy of this form in the AOS packet or do we have to send the original and make a copy for ourselves?

Thank you. This site is awesome!

  11. Hi everyone.

How am I suppose to fill out part 3 of the I-131 if my wife doesn't have any plans to travel outside the country? We want her to have permission to leave in case something happens in her home abroad, or something like that. I've looked at the example form on the site, however it's filled out as if something is already planned.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

  12. Hi everyone.

    I've got 2 small questions about I-485, part I, lines 16 and 19.

    1) My wife entered with a K1 in her passport. Do I have to write anything in line 16 for a 'travel document number'? Should I just rewrite her passport number?

    2) Line 19 asks for a visa number from her visa, if any is there. Now, upon looking at it, there's a 14 digit 'control number' beginning with 2017..... is this the visa number I need to enter?

and 3) lines 25a,b,c of part 1 ask for my wife's name exactly as it is on her I-95. My wife has a middle name which is absent on her I-94. Does that mean I leave 25c blank since her I-94 just has her first and last name?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Regards,

  13. Hi everyone.

Thanks for the boat loads of help that this place provides. I can't imagine doing this back before the internet. I've just assembled my I-864 application and supporting documents, but have a couple of questions.

    1) Do I need to provide a letter from my bank stating how much money i've put into the account etc... or would a copy of my current balance from the webpage suffice?

    2) Since my wife isn't on my most recent federal tax returns, I need to prove that she resides at our residence and prove our relation to each other. To do this, I'm providing USCIS with a copy of our marriage certificate to show we're married and 2 copies of mail with our local address and her name on them. Is this fine?

    3) Is it beneficial to provide statements from my 401k plan?

Thank you again for the information. I look forward to helping people out in the future based on my experience.

  14. Hi everyone!

Trying to finish up this application (I-765) and have one question. Line 18 asks for the status of my wife's last entry. I put K-1 fiance as she came in on that visa. Line 19 asks for her current immigration status. What do I put here? We're filing this form with I-485 jointly so I'm not sure if I just say 'k-1 fiance' again or if I say 'adjustment of status'?

Also, since she came in on the K-1, the code I put in line 20 for her elgibility is (a) (6), right? For some reason I want to put (c) (9). What's the correct code?

    Thanks for the help.

  15. Thanks for the help. But now I have a different problem

If I put in 1 there, that number has to be put in the total for part 5, line 8. It says to add lines 1-7 in part 5 and my wife is being double counted in my household. It says to put 1 for your spouse, which I do,  but she's also counted in line 1 of part 5 automatically from putting 1 in part 3. My household should be 3 people not 4. Thoughts?
