  1. Please help me.

I came into the US on a K1 visa from the Philippines and married my petitioner within the 90 days. He mailed in the I 485 but he may have stopped payment on his checks. He tried to force me to sign a no fault divorce and changed the lock on our apartment. I hope that I can file for my adjustment of status another way because I have done all that I was suppose to do but now my husband does not want me anymore. I am still married to my husband. Please help me by giving me any advice that you can. Thanks

    [/quo

Youre i-94 is only good for 90 days, after that lapses, you need to apply for aos to be able to stay permanently and legally here in the US...Sa interview mo sa AOS kailangan kasama yung asawa mo,saka prrof na nakatira kayo together in the same house...If wala kang evidence or hindi mo kasama ang asawa mo int he interview, youll be denied and will be deported...

my thoughts to you is asked your husband to file for a divorce and go back to our country philippines...It will be easier for you go back to the US,if you have plans in the future...it will be much harder to come back to the US if you get deported...

and another thing is...i dont know if its true its only a heresay...but if you got married to a US citizen and your husband hit you or something,or he committed domestic despute or violence,it may be something you can use to get you permanent residency.....im not sure about that...but its very important right now that you call philippine immigration here in the US,they might help you stay here longer,or if not youll still be lucky cause they give you a free ticket HOME...

    im sorry

  2. When I was in Mexico last month I was receiving repeated phone calls from a strange number with 12 digits. Well, last night a similar number called me. I answered the phone, and it was I think a recording playing in another language, followed by the same lady's voice reciting various numbers in English.

Anyway, Verizon Wireless couldn't figure it out, so I'm coming to my friends at VJ...do any of these numbers look familiar (like can we at least tell where the calls are originating from):

    919436192649

    913892349980

it is probably a card number if the caller use prepaid...i used to call my husband when i was in the philippines and the prepaid card number that i use appear on his phone...

  3. Over the last couple of days, my fiancée and her son got all their vaccines updates. (Their poor arms.)

Today, they had their medical exam for the interview at the embassy in Bogotá in two weeks. After the medical exam, the doctor mentioned that all was good and there were no issues. But then he had my fiancée sign a form that raised questions for us.

I did not see it, but from my understanding it had several check boxes about:

    • vaccines completed
    • vaccines not completed with waivers
    • vaccines not completed with no waivers

He had checked her form with "vaccines not completed with no waivers". She questioned him on this. He insisted that it was proper but gave little explaination. (He had a 'take it or leave it' attitude.) It is confusing because my fiancée and her son brought in their forms showing that they had their vaccines up to date.

Has anyone seen this form when they went to their medical exam? If so, what information can you give me about the form. I'm a little concerned that [a] the embassy might think the vaccines are not in order, or when my fiancée and her son arrive here, future medical exams might want them to get vaccinated again.

    Thanks for your help.

i came to the US with a k1 visa and in my medical in the philippines,i was asked if i want my vaccine be done there or in the US (k1 visa holders can have her vaccine done here). The hospital or clinic where she had her medical will give her the vaccination sheet that she needs to bring to the US,before filling for AOS you have to visit surgeons to have your vaccine completed...so basically, vaccine done or not in her country, she can always have it here later...

  4. for those of U who came on k-1 or k-3, did U just provide ur viccination record as proof of ur medical done inur country with ur AOS package when filing???

in your country when you had your medical and vaccination done, the hospital will give you a copy of a vaccination sheet that you have to bring to the US with you...medical result will be directly submitted to the embassy in your country where youll have your interview, the embassy will send it to you together with your visa (enclosed in the envelope that you cant open<<<----for immigration officers only, they'll get that pocket from you in the immigration check in your port of entry to the US<<----airport). when you apply for the aos, together with all your requirements, send them a copy of your vaccination sheet which was given to you by the hospital where you had your medical back in your country...Note: the medical you had in your country should be not less than a year...i hope this helped...Good luck with you application

  5. Hello,

I am Canadian and I have been living in the states for 7 months now. So far everything is going great. I got my work permit, a job, credit, just bought a condo, etc. This past week I was on a natural high from having my life finally fit into place.

Well....today I was going to a meeting with a co worker and she was asking alot about Canada and immigration. She was asking about Canadian's views on America and the war and 9/11. I answered with my honest opinions which is everyone I know in Canada doesn't support the war but that is just my friends and family, I can't speak for 30 million people. I also told her I don't agree with the war and I am not a big supporter of Bush.

So she started saying I should go back to my home country and I'm not welcome here. America doesn't need immigrants like me...if I don't support America then I should leave, etc, etc.

I was really shocked by this and simply said "you asked for my opinion and I didn't mean to offend you but I have the right to my opinion and I am Canadian and grew up in a peace keeping frame of mind"

She just simply said "you don't belong here"

I am really upset about this and have felt sick all day long. I really do love living here and yes, I may not support the war but neither does 50% of america. I view myself as a Canadian living in Florida and that's it. I like living here but I do have my own opinions that I grew up with and I don't see that changing.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had an experience like this and maybe a little advice. I really didn't want to offend her but she was asking for my opinions.

Just feeling rejected at the moment and not sure how to take all of this.

whoaa thats a story right there...i can relate to what youre feeling right now..i have been here in the US for 6 months and i get discriminated from time to time...Although i dont like it,i just tried calm down...well here's my story, hope it would help you feel that youre not the only one...I met my husband in NY chatroom 3 years ago,and he decided to go to the Philippines to meet me in person after 3 months,he proposed to marry me when he was there but it was too early for us to be married. So to make the story short he waited for another 2 years before we decided to get married,he petitioned me and after a year,i came to the US.My husband brought me to his work to introduce me to his co-workers everyone seems to be nice but one day when my husband get into some misunderstanding with his co-worker,according to husband his co-worker told him in face that hes a loser who buy mail-ordered bride in the internet...that all filipinas are mail-ordered brides, that im only using my husband as a ticket to the US,and that i only wanted a greencard.I swear, upon hearing this,my head end ego wanted to explode...it hurts me so bad and so is my husband,he almost got fired because he exploded at work depending my reputation...we met in the internet but i am not a mail-ordered bride,if i really am into a greencard,i should have said yes when he asked me to marry him 11 days after we meet in person.it hurts me also when he he said philippines is a home for mail-order-wives.i have nothing against mail-order-brides but the fact the way he said it,its very insulting.too early for me to be engaged to any fights,---lol...well before i came to the US i attended a seminar saying we have to be ready in any kind of descrimination...i didnt give any importance to it cause i thought it would not happen to me but i was wrong...it may not be the first and last insult i will get but well, thats life.he was the one who get a bad reputation.

  6. Hi,

I have my AP and my EAD approved already. I already went to the Biometrics appointment.

But now I have a letter that they need my fingerprints again for the FBI.

Do you know hou long it takes after the FBI fingerprints to receive my GC, and another question:

If I already have my FBI fingerprint appointment do this mean that Im not going to have an Interview?

    Thanks.

it happens,i have a friend who had her fingerprinted twice.i dont know the reason.and even she had it twice she was still asked to have an interview...i also have another friend from chicago and the decision for her greencard is hold because the fbi havent received her finger print from the immigration or vice versa, she said someones has the same name like hers...

    well...

  7. Congrats!!

We also have our interview coming up and like you, Val changed her name (marriage) before we went to SS field office to file and said we could not get a ss# since namechange does not match I-94 so we cannot get her on my bank accounts.

stressful isnt it...no one told us that we could apply for the ssn even without a greencard yet...and here in the US everything needs your ssn...whoaaaaa....i was so nervous...just make sure you bring some proof with you to the interview like utility bills,etc...and pray that the one who will do an interview with you is as kind as who did mine...i dont think if this helps but maybe the intrviewer observe all the couples,he maybe have some powers to know if they really live together as husband and wife even without looking for any written evidence...note: i handed him our marriage certificate together with my passport and he gave it back to me saying "I dont need this"<<<<---refering to out marriage cert.

anyway good luck to your application...

    CONGRADULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK

    thank you

  8. :help: my latest neighbor induced problem, lol. my fiancee has been 'told' she needs to be dressed formal , ie. no pants or sandals,--- MUST be a dress or skirt with blouse. neighbor ,' in the know' says it is RULE. does anyone have any feedback i can send to fiancee? ruby's med is sept 28 with interview on oct 6

    thanks

    douie

there is really no dress code but it will be better if she is dressed even just "semi-formal",you know, more presentable, its a very important inteview and it will be nice if youre dressed properly...when i had my interview in manila, february this year (im a US permanent resident now,) well i was wearing,a skirt 3/4 sleeve top with collar, high hill shoes,my hair is nicely tied, wore light make up....well,there are some people wearing denim and collared top and it was okay with the embassy...i guess formal attire would help a little bit (impressions is important)...

and most of all tell your fiance to always wear a smile...it would help her lessen the nervous feeling she would surely have....i swear i was so nervous when i had mine, its wasnt really obvious to other people, only if they know,my hands/feet are as cold as ice,my knees are super weak and i swallow my saliva every other 3 seconds........whoa...i can immagine your fiance's face...hehehehe

    good luck

  9. They say on the list of requirements for the interview that they need proof of payment for the visas at the bank.

What does the bank give out as proof? Is it just a receipt?

    Thanks

applicanbts for a US nonimmigrant visa must pay a non-refundable application fee of US$100 or its peso equivalent (at prevailing exchange rates)

as went on the same process...as i can remember the bank will give you fiance an application form stamped "paid"..this form will be filled up by your fiance and will submit during the interview together with other requirements...

    hope it helps...good luck

  10. wow sounds really easy for you ... Congratulations !!!

thanks everyone...oh yeah i thought its going to be very stressful...hmmm....i dont mean to let everyone think its "that easy"....AH_AH..., its still better if you complete all the requirements...Dont trust your future in LUCK...still,it depends on who are handling your case.it just happened that the one who worked ours is so kind and very helpful....

    cheers everyone...

  11. Did you try this link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums2/

Capt. Ewok posted it after the site came back online

applicants for a US nonimmigrant visa must pay a non-refundable application fee of US$100 or its peso equivalent (at prevailing exchange rates). The fee can be paid at any of the designated banks (citibank, bank of the Philippines islands)

as i can remember, the teller will give a Form and staped it "paid"..(non-immigrant application form)that youll submit late on (during the inteview)

i went to that process, and i swear, the interview made me so nervous from the minute i went in the embassy until i got my visa 5 days after...They didnt tell you if you're approved or not in the interview...i could immagine howyour fiance feels right now...

whoa thank God i got my greencard (1yr) this afternoon...2-year GC will be mailed in couple weeks...

    RELIEF,i tell you...

  12. I signed up in vj two days ago,i was worried cause we dont have alot of proof to show them that we're living together (only electric, phone, cable, and pictures,oh i have some rental agreement also from blockbuster-lol).my husband coudnt put me on the lease cause i have no ssn (needed for background check),he cant put me on the health insurance (because the "change form" was dated outside of the 30 day window<<<---some company policy).i also dont have a bank account basically cause i dont have ssn.NO ss card no state id no nothing...(considering they list alot of requirements in the appoinment letter). The one who interviewed us just asked us to swear an ought asked for our passports and birth certificate..asked me if i have been arrested,or member of any organizations....then thats it...he took out my i-94 from my passport and stamped a greencard good for one year.(the card-good for 2 yrs-will be mail to us)...im so happy,i can finally work, travel or do anything except by just staying in the house all day(ive been her for 6 months now and basically thats what i do everyday--stay in the house for the whole boring day---thats not that easy, you know)

    hoooooooooooo......RELIEF!

  13. The bills with both names are good.

    here is a list.

    • Do you have a joint bank account? Checking, savings account?
    • Joint credit card?
    • Are you a beneficiary on his life insurance?
    • Health club membership?
    • Receipts from you or him buying gifts for each other?
    • Letters to you and/or your spouse from friends or family addressed to your home address.
    • wedding photos with more than just you and your spouse in the pictures.
    • A list of friends and family that attended the wedding with their phone numbers and address. You should have this from when you did wedding invitations.

Also think hard about your spouse's daily routine what likes for breakfast, what is in the bed room color of the walls... Have him do the same for your routines.

study the list of questions here.

  14. i'm trying the best i can to show residence prove by copying phone bills, cable, joint bank accounts. but one thing i'm concerned about is that we got married at the JP and didn't have anyone there to take photos for us. but we got someone to take a photo of us in front of our apartment before heading to the court to get marry. do you all think that's sufficient?

    AJ

well my problem is just like yours..i dont have SSN also..i tried to get one but my I-94 is lapse and i couldnt get a state id also, and my husband cant put me on the lease cause the owner have to do a background check (ssn needed which i dont have)...My inteview is on thursday.Sept 14. and all i have is utility bills photos and letters...i dont know what to do either...huhhhh,im so nervous,i want to cry right now.

    rechelle

  15. Hi! im rechelle and i have a lot of questions regarding the requirements for my AOS inteview scheduled on thursday.sept14.first problem,i dont have any government issued i.d except my passport,(i dont have ss or state id cause when i applied for it they couldnt issue me one cause my I-94 is lapse)will they allow me in using my passport as an i.d. (my maiden name on it).....the other problem is,im not on the apartment lease.heres the story, the owner said they need to do a background check before they can put me on the lease but i would be needing a ss number which i dont have and cant have, not until i have a greencard.(i-94 lapse)...also,in health insurance,my husband tried to put me in but the company said we're late,we should have done it within 30 days after the marriage. As of now,We only have electric, phone, cable bills etc. and our wedding pictures. Will that be enough as our proof that we're living together?interview's on thursday, thats 2 nights from now,i dont think i could sleep good, this is bothering me...
