Typically the NVC does send over everything to the consulate but it is recommended that you do take a copy of the I-864 to the interview. My husband carried a copy with him but the CO only asked him for my w2's. If I were you I would fill in a new I-864 sign it and email it to him. He doesn't need to take the original a copy will suffice.

So you are saying fill out another signed i-864 and but just send it my spouse instead of nvc? I never made copy of my original i-864 that i sent 2 weeks ago to nvc.

    Hi @

    Ryan H

Instead of creating new thread, i just wanted to ask quick few questions.

    1. So i sent wrong pcc and got the correct one after a week i sent my package to nvc, I called nvc and they said to mail correct pcc along with letter and document cover sheet, Now I know i will mark "enclosed" for PCC on doc cover sheet, but what about other documents? just leave them blank?

    2. also does my spouse need to bring i-864ez to the interview? i did not make copy before sending to nvc and I am freaking out on this one. Should I send another i864ez to nvc and than make copy of that to send to my spouse.

    thanks a lot!!!

I am glad you did not have to go through that hassle. There seems to be no consistency between the PSK's in Punjab. They all have their own rules.

    KaurnN,

since you already went thru interview process, can you please tell me if my spouse need to bring i-864 to the interview or does nvc automatically send them to the embassy? I did not make copy of i-864 and i am now thinking of sending another form to nvc and make copy of it so i can give it to my spouse.

    what do you think?

How did you make out with the PCC @aura009 ?

just received one today. didn't have to deal with new passport issue. thank you. :)

btw, just had quick question, i called nvc and they said to send document cover sheet and a letter when sending correct pcc, I know i will mark "enclosed" for PCC, but what about other documents? just leave them blank?

It's your choice.  Your wait at nvc will be several weeks.  Plenty of time to send the correct document and not create a delay for yourself.  Only trying to help but you can do as u wish😊 best of luck.

I guess I am going to hold on to complete ds 260 because i am assuming they start reviewing your papers once ds 260 is done and they have received your aos/iv package.

Yes this PCC works for Canada and Australia I think. For the States you need one from the Passport office. And not to scare you but in Punjab it isn't that easy. You need to book an appointment first, then they send the police to your place to do an inquiry and get some witnesses. Once the police sends a clear report back to the passport office they send you a notification to come collect the PCC. At least that is how it worked for us. My husband even had to get a new passport because my name wasn't listed on his passport as his spouse and the passport office said they would not issue a PCC unless he gets a new passport.

well..this was all done. police did come to house and did their inquiry...but we got the above PCC which seems to be incorrect. Should i talk to the office of supdt regarding if they have sent report back to passport office?

i don't know why would they require new passport now...from what it seems, PCC from passport office is just lettter explaining that you have good character...nothing about spouse.

Also see the first few pages of this forum. Many people have given detailed steps to get the pcc.

    http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink

please use the above link to create a login and take an appointment for PCC.

you can call the nvc, to check if you need to send thee tire package. I don't think you will need to. The barcode sheet with the correct pcc should suffice.

Also Pcc is a very important document. I haven't seen nvc approving without a correct pcc.

Hope this helps!! This forum has enough information to help you.. just search and don't panic . 😊

    Good luck!!

ok cool...i just told my relative to go to Chandigarh tomm morning and get it. Will call nvc tomm and ask them if I can just send bar-coded sheet along with correct PCC or i have to send whole package.

    Thanks a lot. :)

No it is not an exception. You should follow rules on travel. Gov rather than your relatives. Please apply for a pcc from the passport office and then mail to it nvc. Just get it done quicker to avoid a checklist.

Damm...so i will have to send entire package again? :( or can i bring it to interview...you think?

I understand that and i thank you for that. :)  Just confused because relative is saying passport office will not give you PCC unless asked for from embassy?

    is that true?

You are supposed to get the pcc from passport office. Not from police commissioner s office.

I talked to my relative in india...they said everyone who is going to oversees gets PCC from their office and they have had not any problem. Is US an exception?

To everyone, you don't have to wait for your ds260 to be paid before mailing out your NVC package. And you don't have to complete it before sending it out either. In fact I completed my ds260 the day after the NVC confirmed receipt of my documents.

Awesome. :) Once the welcome letter comes in, that fee opens up. :) And the NVC is able to approve the ds261 over the phone.

I did the same thing...sent my package 2 days ago and seems like nvc received it today on fri. Will call monday to get SC. I am still stuck like other people where payment shows "in process" even though i pad both fees 2 weeks ago. :(

btw, do you think its good idea to call nvc after about few weeks instead of 11 weeks period to check status on case? I don't want to wait 11 weeks just to find i may have checklist. checklists sucks just to make myself clear. lol

Just called them about IV In Process problem, they are aware of it and their technician is "working on it". I asked them when and the answer is that they don't know and just keep checking back <_< I guess all of us just have to keep bothering them with phone call until they fixed it :(

Thanks for the update...I am in same boat. paid both aos and iv fees on july 13 and it still shows "in process". I however sent my package today...so as soon as ds 260 is up, will get on it right away. :)

First, applying for an ITIN for a spouse living abroad is not simple at all.  Second, filing single instead of married does not cheat the government.  If anything, you over-pay your taxes when you do that.  NVC and the Consular officer don't care about this subject in the least.

    Spoken the truth...Thank you.

You can always fill out married once your spouse comes to US. Its not like you are hiding any income from US government.
